Chapter 833: Chapter 833: Araminta Gold Appears!
Scarlett Jennings exhaled with relief.
Direct combat is much simpler than listening to her say those ambiguous words.
Her hand instinctively reached for her carry-on bag.
Hannah Hearne obviously knew what it was and quickly reminded her, "You can’t use spiritual power in the Academy of Mystique, otherwise it wouldn’t be fair."
"Got it."
Scarlett came to the Academy of Mystique specifically to cultivate demonic power.
For the past three months, she hasn’t used spiritual power during assessments, and this time is no different.
As she spoke, she reached out to unstrap her bag.
The next second, a fierce-looking Crocodile Tortoise flew out from inside, grabbed the strap with its mouth, and drifted to the side amidst the Black Mist.
Hannah Hearne and the other ten members of the Special Demon Squad were watching the floating Crocodile Tortoise with intrigue.
They had heard rumors that the new student had an odd-looking demon pet, and seeing it now, it certainly was a bit ugly.
Hmm, it can fly too!
"Why can it fly? And what’s that dark stuff? It doesn’t look like demon energy."
Hannah Hearne curiously pointed at the system already floating to the side.
Scarlett did not answer, but as soon as she confirmed the system had retreated to a safe distance, demonic power emanated from her body.
Two snow-white and smooth Fox Tails emerged from behind her, rapidly grew longer in an instant, and with a swift touch of the ground at the tip, Scarlett shot towards Hannah Hearne like an arrow released from a bow!
Hannah Hearne moved lightly on her toes, her body gracefully retreating, her posture relaxed and easy, even teasing her tails,
"Only two tails? That shouldn’t be."
From behind her, the boy who spoke first in the Special Demon Squad snapped, "Fool! Don’t be reckless!"
Just as the boy spoke, Hannah Hearne felt demonic power attacking her from both sides behind her and looked closely to see it was Scarlett’s other two tails.
Her eyes gleamed, and as the two tails swept towards her, she swung her long tail to fend off Scarlett’s tails while flipping backward.
Having retreated two meters, she took a clearer look at Scarlett.
Behind her, four Fox Tails swayed gently; though all were white, the demonic power on Scarlett’s tails made them appear even whiter and glossier like snow.
Hannah Hearne finally showed some seriousness on her face.
"As a Half-Demon with only a quarter demon bloodline, manifesting four tails in such a short time, you’re indeed remarkable."
She paused, her voice became softer by two tones, "But with only four tails, you can’t beat me."
Not to mention that the concentration of demonic power from a Pureblood Demon is higher than that of a Half-Demon, within the Nine-tailed Fox Clan, the number of tails also signifies strength.
Four against five, it’s a losing battle.
Scarlett was already accustomed to Hannah Hearne’s constant chatter, even had time to retort,
"Whether I can win, you’ll find out after the fight."
Then she attacked Hannah Hearne again, having cultivated for over three months, Scarlett now controlled demonic power skillfully, and began to get used to fighting using only demonic power.
For instance, she condensed demonic power at her feet, making her foot strong enough to shatter a concrete floor, and could directly break an opponent’s bones if used to kick them.
Scarlett swung her leg, Hannah Hearne did not dodge but rushed to grab at Scarlett’s foot with claws formed from her hands.
Scarlett swiftly sidestepped, using her Fox Tails to divide into two, each reaching to entangle Hannah Hearne’s hands and feet.
Once accustomed to the presence of the Fox Tails, they became part of her.
But though she had tails, so did Hannah Hearne, whose two tails intercepted and tangled tightly with Scarlett’s advancing two tails.
Scarlett remained unfazed, one of her other two tails turned into a sharp blade aiming for Hannah Hearne, while the other rushed toward her neck.
Hannah Hearne chuckled lightly, released two more tails to counter, and in a blink, tightly ensnared Scarlett’s four tails.
Her remaining tail fiercely swept towards Scarlett’s head.
Scarlett’s heart tightened slightly, instinctively wishing to use spiritual power to create a barrier, but quickly remembered the rules of demon dueling, swiftly transformed her four tails.
After mysteriously retracting two tails previously, she could now withdraw her tails freely.
The entrapped four tails vanished instantly, allowing Scarlett to dodge Hannah Hearne’s final tail strike.
But it was too late.
[Scarlett!]
The system shrieked as it flew back and forth outside the arena.
Scarlett avoided the attack aimed at her head, but her shoulder was forcefully swept.
Her entire body somersaulted, landing meters away on the ground.
Her long hair scattered, and though she didn’t bleed, when she got up, her shoulder dropped, and her entire arm was clearly dislocated.
Hannah Hearne stood there watching her with a smile, "I said I would hold back."
Otherwise, a proper strike, her half arm would be drenched in blood.
"The outcome is..."
Hannah Hearne paused mid-sentence as something suddenly flew towards her from outside the arena.
Neither Hannah Hearne nor Scarlett foresaw it, but upon seeing what it was, Scarlett’s pupils narrowed; disregarding the pain from her shoulder, demonic power burst forth, her body racing towards Hannah Hearne.
Hannah Hearne instinctively wanted to sweep her tail towards the small object flying at her, however, Scarlett almost instantly arrived, four tails forcefully blocking her offensive, demonic power clash spread outward, constricting the breaths of East District Demons secretly witnessing from afar.
Yet the little object protected by Scarlett charged at Hannah Hearne’s waist without concern.
"Liora Gold!"
Scarlett’s heart skipped a beat.
Unaware why it suddenly ran out.
Hannah Hearne was caught off guard but wasn’t hurt when it struck her waist because its main objective wasn’t an attack but... the pouch hanging from her waist.
Scarlett saw the pouch drop.
Then a flare of Golden Light leaked from the opened pouch.
Her pupils slightly trembled, and the next second, saw a little paperman identical to Liora Gold crawl laboriously out of the pouch.
It’s Araminta Gold!
Belonging to Samuel Chalmers’ little paperman!
Scarlett felt her mind blank, instinctively wishing to retrieve the little creature, yet Hannah Hearne reacted faster.
A Fox Tail instantly wrapped around the little paperman, delivering it to her gaze.
Hannah Hearne stretched out her hand, pinched the struggling little paperman, then looked towards the frenziedly jumping paperman on the ground, full of curiosity,
"Is this yours? What a coincidence, it looks exactly like mine."
"That’s because they were originally a pair!"
Scarlett stared intently at the little paperman clasped in her hand, her voice tightened,
"Where did you get this little paperman?"
Hannah Hearne looked at her and simply said, "I picked it up, thought it looked interesting, so I kept it."
She finished speaking, looked at Scarlett, then at the paperman still trying to charge over, blinked, "Do you want it back?"
Scarlett watched her, "Please return it to me."
Hannah examined the struggling paperman in her grasp and then looked at Scarlett, extended her hand, then suddenly retracted it,
"No, I found it, so it’s mine."
She paused, then smiled sweetly at Scarlett,
"But if one day you defeat me, then I’ll return it to you."
Scarlett’s almond-shaped eyes deepened, watched her, her voice was low,
"Honest words."
As she spoke, her entire aura seemed to shift, she stepped back half a step, the four Fox Tails behind her slowly rose, clearly carrying the same demon energy as before but subtly transformed.
She said,
"Let’s continue, the last duel isn’t over yet."
