Chapter 832: 832: Entering the Special Demon Squad

Chapter 832: Chapter 832: Entering the Special Demon Squad

As Scarlett Jennings had guessed, she and Dashiell had just stepped into the Academy when they saw Sebastian quickly running towards them.

The little Monkey Demon, Sebastian, was Sebastian Carew’s childhood friend, and now he was also attending the Academy of Mystique.

Like Dashiell, both of them were in the intermediate class at the beginner Half-Demon level.

Previously, Scarlett had fought to get an enrollment spot for Dashiell, intending for him to ascend a level each month, just like her.

But evidently, she had underestimated Dashiell’s strength and enthusiasm.

Fortunately, being in the same class as Sebastian gives her peace of mind; even if she leaves one Flood Dragon with him there, she isn’t worried.

But now that Sebastian was running over, he was clearly here to deliver a message.

“Scarlett, I heard the Special Demon Squad has cleared the land in front of the West District! You shouldn’t go there for now, wait for the bell to ring and go in together with the Demon Master!”

Everyone knows that the land in front of the West District used to be the Trial Grounds, and anyone who trespasses on the territory of the Special Demon Squad will be taken there for a round of training.

And the Trial Grounds are most famous for the surrounding demon-blood flowers;

it’s said those flowers are the most beautiful because they are watered with Demon Blood.

Gradually, a tradition emerged that anyone entering the area must see blood.

This is different from the minor skirmishes in the East District, which could be fatal.

As Sebastian Carew’s friend, Sebastian naturally didn’t want Scarlett to get into trouble.

Therefore, waiting for the Demon Master and entering with him into the Special Demon Squad is the safest choice.

Sebastian meant well, but Scarlett could not just do as he suggested.

“I can wait until the Demon Master has class today, but I can’t follow the Demon Master every day; since they’ve presented this challenge, I must accept it.”

She paused and said,

“Besides, I estimate even when the time arrives today, no Demon Master will come.”

Not for anything else, but because she hadn’t initially applied to leapfrog into the Special Demon Squad, yet she was directly assigned there; the academy likely had a hand in this.

Perhaps, it was also the handiwork of her easygoing uncle.

No matter whose idea it was, since she was assigned to the Special Demon Squad, she would not retreat voluntarily.

Seeing Scarlett heading alone toward the West District, Dashiell thought for a moment and then decided to follow.

Seeing this, Sebastian quickly pulled him, “You can’t trespass into the West District territory, are you suicidal?”

Dashiell naturally replied, “I’m not crossing the boundary, just standing on the side to watch, isn’t that allowed?”

He wasn’t really worried about Scarlett getting into trouble.

He mainly wanted to watch the spectacle.

Sebastian, hearing him say this, felt it made sense, so he followed along.

Quite a few from the East District, having been watching this side, saw these two sneakily join in and stop at the edge of the West District’s boundary, and were tempted, skipping class to join them.

At nine o’clock sharp the bell rang, yet the various classes were scattered, with everyone running to the edge of the West District to catch the excitement.

Here, as Scarlett drew closer, the sight in front of her was a field of blood-colored demon-blood flowers, indeed as lush and enchanting as the legend described.

At this time, on the other end of the Trial Grounds, on the only way to enter the Special Demon Squad’s teaching building, several figures stood.

All appeared as seventeen- or eighteen-year-olds, but each had a maturity beyond their years.

As Scarlett approached, the Demon Energy surrounding these individuals pressed upon her.

Eleven people in total.

This was the Special Demon Squad in full.

Scarlett’s gaze swept across and noticed Callum Yuan sitting in the far corner, he glanced at her then quickly looked away as if he didn’t know her.

The others examined Scarlett with scrutinizing gazes, separated by a training field, yet they could clearly sense every emotional change on her face.

With her growing control over demonic power, Scarlett’s five senses had become sharper than ever before.

From opposite her, a person spoke first, his voice carrying a mocking tone,

“A half-blood Half-Demon, entering the Special Demon Squad?”

Scarlett did not respond, instead stood firm and asked, “Want to fight?”

This had to be said with a bit of provocation.

But since they had set up their formation, saying something like “I’m just here to join you” would be meaningless.

She preferred to be straightforward.

Sure enough, upon hearing her words, the initial speaker and several others emitted a dangerous air.

Even Callum Yuan suddenly stood up, seemingly waiting for her statement.

The Imp Sprites from the East District perched atop the academy walls and trees couldn’t help but gasp at Scarlett’s words.

They felt Scarlett was finished.

Though she was a commendable Half-Demon Imp Sprite, the gap between the East District and West District in terms of demonic power and other aspects was significant.

Her immediate provocation marked doom.

Luke Hearne, although feeling embarrassed that Scarlett skipped the Advanced Class to enter the Special Demon Squad, couldn’t help but laugh upon seeing the ferocious lineup from afar.

Especially once he noticed the figure at the Special Demon Squad, he carried a sense of amusement.

“Hannah Hearne is back, the show is starting.”

Indeed, just as the atmosphere reached a point of palpable tension, a graceful figure stepped forward from the lineup of eleven, the girl’s voice intentionally softened,

“It’s just a welcoming ceremony; everyone doesn’t need to be so stressed~”

She then looked at Scarlett,

“You must be Scarlett? I’m your kindred; my name is Hannah Hearne.”

Scarlett didn’t know the girl, but she sensitively noticed the instant she spoke, the other ten’s expressions became visibly stagnant and somewhat odd.

The girl seemed oblivious, advancing nonetheless, her expression suddenly changing to one of sadness,

“It’s all because of me; if only I knew you’d join the Special Demon Squad, I should have withdrawn, freeing up a spot so everyone wouldn’t be so troubled!”

Scarlett: ???

The other ten: …

The girl named Hannah Hearne continued,

“Scarlett, don’t blame them; they’re just acting on my behalf, not intentionally targeting you…”

Silence, a wordless silence.

Just as Scarlett discerned a familiar plot, the boy who had spoken earlier couldn’t hold back, bursting out,

“Hannah Hearne! Can you speak normally?! Who the hell did anything for you?! Entering the Special Demon Squad through battle has always been the rule!

Stop reading those weird novels and performing here! It’s giving me goosebumps everywhere!”

Unfazed by the shout, Hannah Hearne calmly looked at Scarlett and softly said,

“Just a moment.”

Turning around, the demonic power surged around her.

Scarlett watched as five enormous Fox Tails suddenly spread behind Hannah.

In an instant, the snow-colored five-tails carried a fierce momentum, sweeping straight towards the boy who had spoken.

“Whoa!”

Scarlett watched as the ten standing figures vanished, leaving just five deep gashes on the cement ground.

Looking again at the ten, they had deftly retreated to various spots.

Hannah Hearne didn’t pursue the boy further, instead turning back to Scarlett with a sigh,

“Though his mouth is foul, he didn’t lie; combat in the Special Demon Squad is the rule, and there’s nothing I can do about it, but since you’re my kindred, I certainly will take care of you a bit more…

This first duel, let’s have it between you and me.”

Her voice turned light upon the final sentence, and there appeared a dangerous gleam in her eyes.

As she spoke, the five tails behind her swayed, carrying dense demonic power, her tone growing ever more gentle,

“Don’t worry, I’ll hold back a little.”
