Chapter 157: Let Victoria Go!

Chapter 157: Chapter 157: Let Victoria Go!

Gianna smiled slyly as she watched the perfectionist and arrogant CEO finally beg her. While she had always been the one begging this arrogant CEO, now she didn’t have to go through the trouble of doing that demeaning thing anymore. Now she believed the divorce papers Matthias had handed over were genuine, and she returned them.

"Alright, I’ll let Victoria go. I also won’t threaten your mother again to give funds. Besides, my own daughter is much smarter than you."

"You must keep your promise. I sacrificed everything to save the woman I love."

"But, will Victoria still not let you go?"

"Don’t worry. She and I are truly over now. Besides, I’m engaged to another woman now. I’ll be marrying her in three weeks."

Gianna propped her chin on her palm. "By the way, I heard Victoria had an accident at the D&C Group anniversary party. She miscarried. Is that baby yours?"

"Yes, that baby was indeed mine. To this day, I still can’t forget that incident."

"I’m so sorry for your baby’s passing. But this is all Victoria’s fault for not taking proper care of your baby."

Matthias clenched his fists tightly. "This isn’t Victoria’s fault. She didn’t want that terrible incident to happen. You have no right to blame her."

"Isn’t it obvious that Victoria is a terrible woman? You even divorced her because she wasn’t worthy of being your wife? I hope your marriage to the other woman goes smoothly."

"Thank you for your prayers." Matthias got up from the sofa, straightening his suit. "There’s one important thing I want to tell you. I divorced Victoria not because I thought she was a bad woman. It was because I loved her very much."

"I don’t care what your reasons for divorcing her are. What’s certain is that I will keep my promise not to bother Victoria again like before."

"If you dare to touch even a single strand of her hair, be prepared, I will not remain silent even though she and I are divorced."

Meanwhile, Victoria was invited to meet Amber at a cafe. She already knew Amber’s sudden visit was to ruin her current mood. Although Amber still didn’t know the true nature of their relationship, she still hadn’t given up on stealing Matthias from her.

Victoria was disgusted by the hypocritical woman sipping black coffee in front of her. If only she could turn back time, she would immediately avoid this cunning woman who had managed to ruin her marriage.

"What made you want to see me all of a sudden?" Victoria asked, folding her arms haughtily.

Amber flashed a sly smile. "Actually, I wanted to tell you that Matthias and I are getting married in three weeks."

Victoria laughed awkwardly. "So, what does that have to do with me? You want to invite me to your wedding?"

"Of course. We’re friends, and you’re Matthias’s business partner, so I’ll definitely invite you to our wedding." Amber crossed her legs. "Do you mind? Can you attend our wedding?"

"Of course I want to attend your wedding because Matthias and I are still friends, even though our relationship has ended since I had a miscarriage."

"I still grieve for the loss of your baby at that time."

"I’ve let my baby go. Now I want to find a better man than Matthias. A man who can protect me from anyone and truly love me for who I am."

"Thankfully, this way, no one will misunderstand your relationship anymore. Ever since the video advertisement went viral on social media, everyone has been very supportive of your marriage. I’m actually the one who deserves to marry Matthias."

"Don’t worry, I have no intention of destroying your relationship. Besides, I already warned Matthias that I don’t like being treated differently than usual. I also made it clear to him that our relationship is strictly business partnerships."

"Then you just have to pray for our wedding to go smoothly." Amber took another sip of her black coffee. "I still remember your overconfident prayer from before. Now it won’t be answered. Surely Matthias would be very happy to marry me."

"I just want you not to hurt his feelings. Matthias is the type of man who is only loyal to one woman. If that woman betrays him, then he will hate that woman for the rest of his life."

"Don’t worry, I won’t let him hate me. He and I have been friends for a long time. Of course, I won’t let him down." Amber stroked her still-flat stomach. "Especially now that I’m pregnant. Seeing you go through that horrific incident makes me want to guard myself even more tightly."

"Hopefully, your baby will be born a good child. I can’t wait for Matthias’s first child to arrive." In reality, Victoria couldn’t wait for Amber’s downfall. Especially if everyone found out that Amber wasn’t pregnant and had been deceiving them all this time.

After chatting with Amber, Victoria spent some free time with Charles at an oriental restaurant. Victoria was worried that Charles would be shocked by the bad news. She had been telling him bad news lately. Would he be even more disappointed in her? Therefore, she wanted to slowly tell him the truth.

Charles patted Victoria on the shoulder. "Victoria, you don’t have to be sad. I won’t scold you if you divorce my grandson."

"I’m sorry. If only I had been nicer, I wouldn’t have hurt your grandson’s feelings."

"Actually, none of this is your fault. But it was my grandson who decided everything first. He suddenly wanted to marry that woman, and I had no right to stop him."

"But, I actually wanted to stop him because that woman wasn’t worthy of being his wife. Moreover, Matthias was doing all this just to protect me. Actually I’m still angry with him because he’s selfish."

Charles laughed so hard his face turned red. "This is my grandson’s strength. Even after you two decided to divorce, he still wants to protect you at all costs. It’s a sign he still loves you."
