Chapter 395: Chapter 395: Do You Dare To Kill Me?
When she learned Stephanie had faced Trenton alone to protect Railer and Kane, her heart sank. And before she even had the chance to comfort Stephanie, someone had hit her!
"It was Caitlin. Mr. Wilson rushed over as soon as he heard. From the look on his face, I think something is about to happen." Russell hurried to keep up with Chantelle while turning to Railer, who was following them. "Rai, stay home and wait for news. We’ll be back soon."
Railer looked at Russell and nodded through his tears. He knew he would only make things worse if he went along.
"Rai, go back to your room. Don’t tell Kane about this. I’ll bring Steph back soon." Chantelle said worriedly as she got into the car and quickly started the engine. When she passed by in front of Railer, she reminded him again.
Railer shouted loudly, "Don’t worry, Mommy! I’ll take good care of Kane!"
The car drove away. Chantelle’s hands trembled in anger as she gripped the steering wheel. "How did Caitlin find the villa?"
As soon as she asked, she realized Xander must have told Emelia. Then Emelia must have brought Caitlin over, and that led to the conflict with Stephanie.
Russell said, "It was Mr. Quinn. I don’t think he did it on purpose. Madam Quinn must have been worried since he’s been missing for so many days, so..."
"I know. I won’t blame Xander." Chantelle gritted her teeth and pressed down on the accelerator. She wouldn’t blame Xander, but that didn’t mean she would forgive the one who hurt Stephanie.
Soon after, Chantelle arrived at the villa.
The moment she stepped out of the car, she heard a sharp scream and crying from inside. Philip rushed out carrying Stephanie in his arms. Chantelle saw the big earphones on Stephanie’s head and the finger marks on her swollen cheeks.
Chantelle’s eyes turned red when she saw Stephanie’s injuries. She reached out to take her. "It’s okay. I’m here, don’t be afraid."
"Mommy, go and calm Daddy down. He’s angry." Even though Philip had quickly put the earphones on her, Stephanie could still hear Daniel’s furious roar and Caitlin’s terrified screams.
Chantelle placed Stephanie in the car. She glanced back at the villa, then got into the car and said to Stephanie, "I’ll take you to Rai and Kane first."
"Mommy, I’m fine. It just hurts slightly." Stephanie held Chantelle’s hand and tried to smile, but the movement made her wince.
Even Russell and Philip couldn’t stand it anymore. How could that cruel Caitlin strike such a sweet child? Letting Daniel teach her a lesson felt right.
"Mommy, Godfather is still up there. Daddy will blame him." Stephanie had stayed with Xander for a few days and had already remembered the moments she shared with him before, so she felt very close to him.
She was afraid Daniel might hurt Xander.
"Russell, take Steph home first." Chantelle tossed the car keys to Russell.
Russell nodded, secured Stephanie, and quickly led her away from the villa so she wouldn’t see anything terrible.
Chantelle entered the villa with a cold expression, and Philip followed behind her. "Chantie, calm down. Caitlin’s family has some background. If something happens, it’ll be hard to handle. After all, we’re in Carcosa."
Chantelle shot him a glare, then quickened her pace.
Suddenly, Caitlin rushed down from upstairs. Chantelle grabbed her hair and slapped her twice across the face.
But those two slaps left no marks, because Daniel had already struck Caitlin so hard her face was swollen, as if his handprints were engraved into her skin.
"Chantelle, you bitch! How dare you hit me! How dare all of you hit me! I won’t let you go!" Caitlin looked up, saw Chantelle, and rushed at her like a madwoman.
Chantelle kicked her hard in the leg, making Caitlin lose her balance. Caitlin crashed into the stair railing and broke two teeth.
"Bitch! I won’t let you off easy! Do you dare to kill me? Once I leave here, I’ll send you all to prison!" Caitlin screamed.
She had never been humiliated like this since childhood, let alone beaten.
"Oh? Then don’t even think about leaving today." Chantelle pressed her foot against Caitlin’s chest, and the tip of her shoe pressed down on her throat.
Caitlin hadn’t expected Chantelle to be so ruthless. Fear shot through her, and she wanted to beg for mercy, but no sound came out.
"Chantie..." Philip tried to persuade her, but when he saw her cold eyes, he swallowed his words.
"Chantelle, please let Caitlin go. I’m sorry, it’s all my fault..." Xander crawled down the stairs, looking disheveled and embarrassed.
Daniel stood beside Xander with his arms crossed, staring at Caitlin as if she were nothing more than a dead object.
"Xander, are you okay?" Chantelle panicked when she saw his condition. She rushed upstairs to help him, but Daniel caught her arm.
Chantelle thought Daniel was angry with Xander and had brought him here on purpose to see Caitlin’s punishment. Her face turned cold. She shook Daniel’s hand off and shouted angrily, "Don’t touch me!"
Daniel frowned, and his eyes turned cold.
Chantelle ignored him and reached out to help Xander. But just as she stretched out her hand, someone slapped it away.
"Mom, what are you doing?" Xander asked, helpless and angry.
Emelia glared at Chantelle with hostility. "I told you not to let this cursed woman touch you! You’re fine when she’s gone, but the moment she comes back, you end up like this again. She was born to ruin your life! Why are you so stupid to let her play with you?"
"Mom, stop talking!" Xander was still lying on the ground. He didn’t even dare to look at Chantelle.
Partly because of what Emelia had said, and partly because he felt so embarrassed.
Chantelle straightened up and told a bodyguard to bring Xander’s wheelchair from the room. Then she helped Xander sit in it.
"Don’t use her things! You can’t use her things! They’ll bring you bad luck!" Emelia cried out, trying desperately to pull Xander out of the wheelchair.
"I’m here to save you from this suffering! I’ll take you away right now, and you’ll recover soon!"
"Mom! What are you trying to do? Do you want to drive me to death? If you keep this up, I’ll jump from here right now!" Xander shouted angrily. He had been fine here, and his relationship with Stephanie had even started to improve.
He had planned to recover soon, then find a way to compete with Daniel and confess his feelings to Chantelle.
But Emelia had ruined all his hopes, and Caitlin had hit Stephanie. What made him even angrier was that when Daniel interrogated Caitlin, he discovered this wasn’t the first time. When Stephanie was younger, Caitlin often abused her during visits with Xander.
