Zhuo Nian took a taxi to the train station. The train station was more than 30 kilometers away from the school. Considering factors like traffic jams, she had set off an hour and a half in advance.
The journey was surprisingly smooth. She arrived with more than 40 minutes to spare before the train was due. Checking the time, Zhuo Nian sat on a bench and scrolled through her phone.
This world offered many more forms of entertainment than the previous one. The mini-games and videos on her phone were quite engaging. Zhuo Nian got so engrossed that she lost track of time.
When she was suddenly nudged, she thought the train had arrived. Looking up, she saw only a few people around. The person who nudged her was the man in the wheelchair she had encountered at the mall.
He was now using crutches, with one leg apparently functional. His leg wasn't broken, just slightly limping.
"Is there something you need?"
The man's face was pale, and sweat beaded on his forehead, making him look like he was being pursued. "Miss Lu, could you do me a favor? There's a reward."
Zhuo Nian glanced at the time. There were 20 minutes left.
"How much are you offering? And I need to be back within 15 minutes."
Fu Hongyu was surprised that she agreed so readily.
"Fourteen minutes."
He snapped back to attention and quickly said, "Five million. Help me deal with two people. They're here at the station, and they're armed. We can't cause a commotion. It would be best to knock them out and bring them back." SuDan Novel Network
Five million. Zhuo Nian was instantly tempted.
Whether he could actually pay or would pay was not something Zhuo Nian considered. Didn't he have those mall shares? She could always take them as collateral later.
"Okay." She put her phone back in her bag and handed it to him. "Watch this for me."
With that, she stood up and left her seat.
Fu Hongyu had provided very little information, with no description of the two individuals. Just as he was about to say more, Zhuo Nian had already walked away.
However, since that person came from a cultivation family, he might possess skills she didn't know about. He should be able to handle two assassins.
Zhuo Nian could indeed handle them, and much faster than he anticipated. In just a few minutes, she returned, pushing two people.
The previously mysterious top assassins now looked like soulless puppets, pushed by her as she approached Fu Hongyu.
Just as Fu Hongyu was about to speak, Zhuo Nian suddenly raised her hands and delivered two swift slaps to their shoulders. The two men went limp like deflated noodles.
Fu Hongyu: "...What are you doing?"
Zhuo Nian looked bewildered. "Didn't you want them knocked out?"
Fu Hongyu: "..."
What else could he do? Catching them so easily was already a pleasant surprise. Could he really argue with her about whether they were unconscious or not?
"The payment."
An assistant walked over, accompanied by bodyguards. Fu Hongyu addressed his assistant, "Give her a check for five million."
The assistant immediately went to write the check.
Zhuo Nian hesitated for a moment while holding the check. "Can you put it into a card? I'll deduct ten thousand."
Fu Hongyu chuckled upon hearing this. "Of course. Change it to a card for her."
The assistant took back the check and agreed.
The bodyguards took away the two assassins. As they were about to leave, Zhuo Nian's voice rang out again, "Don't think about reneging on the payment, or I'll find you."
The response she received was Fu Hongyu's stifled laughter.
Crazy.
Zhuo Nian shook her head and continued scrolling through her phone.
A short while later, as announcements echoed through the station, people began to emerge. Zhuo Nian put on her earphones and made a call, walking along the road to find someone.
Soon, they met in the station plaza.
Seeing the person and sensing a familiar soul, Zhuo Nian couldn't help but rush forward and give him a bear hug. As she embraced him, a sense of satisfaction washed over her.
This felt so good!
Lu Chongyan was startled by her enthusiasm. Slowly, he dared to raise his hands and gently return the hug. Seeing her again, he felt she seemed different.
Even though Luo Nian had pursued him initially, and he liked her, both of them were quite reserved back then, rarely engaging in such physical contact. Especially after Lu Nian started university, their meetings became less frequent, and their relationship grew distant.
This time, when he messaged Lu Nian, there was a hint of testing the waters. The response he received, however, exceeded his expectations. This person still liked him.
She hadn't moved on, as the other person had claimed.
Lu Chongyan's heart settled. He gently patted her back, his voice tinged with a hint of grievance, "I missed you so much."
Zhuo Nian felt even more wronged than him. "I missed you too. You never came to see me."
This identity was quite useful.
It was just that the thought of the original host dating him made her feel a bit uneasy.
Fortunately, nothing had happened between them, otherwise…
Lu Chongyan smiled, feeling a little more relaxed. "I'm here now, aren't I? And I plan to find work here. We'll have more time to see each other from now on."
"Yes, from now on, we won't be apart."
