Chapter 18: Chapter 18: Marriage?
Without making a decision based on his position.
Serena Yeats nodded. After spending time together, she knew The Lancaster Family were all good people.
But that wasn’t truly the case; to reach their current status, The Lancaster Family weren’t all good people.
As the saying goes, kind people are taken advantage of, and good horses are ridden.
A family that is compassionate and soft-hearted won’t go far.
Of course, Elias Lancaster didn’t want her to know these things; she just needed to give birth safely, and then live healthily and happily.
As for those complicated matters, she didn’t need to know.
He would protect her, ensuring her lifelong happiness and that she would never be bullied by anyone.
During dinner, as soon as Serena Yeats sat down, she rushed to the bathroom with her mouth covered before eating.
Old Madam Lancaster and Elias Lancaster immediately followed her.
Every woman’s pregnancy reactions are different; some have none, some have mild reactions, but some experience very severe symptoms.
Serena Yeats belonged to the latter, experiencing quite severe pregnancy symptoms.
A moment later.
Serena Yeats recovered, looking up to see Old Madam Lancaster, Old Master Lancaster, and Elias Lancaster’s worried and concerned eyes.
Pale-faced, she smiled, "I’m fine, these are normal reactions."
"Good child, it’s so hard for you!" Old Madam Lancaster wiped her tear sorrowfully.
She was thinking to herself, if her son ultimately couldn’t be with her, she’d take her as a daughter and find her a good family.
If Elias Lancaster knew his mother was thinking of stealing his future spouse, probably he wouldn’t let her visit anymore.
"Old Madam Lancaster, I’m fine, I’m already used to it, it’ll get better after a while." Serena Yeats quickly comforted her.
The doctor said if she could endure this period, she would gradually get better.
Elias Lancaster supported her back to the dining room, and everyone continued to eat.
During the rest of the meal, Serena Yeats didn’t vomit again, she finished her nutritious meal fully.
It had been a long time since she’d eaten so well, every time eating a couple of bites she’d start vomiting, then she’d vomit even after eating more.
After dinner, sitting in the living room, Elias Lancaster watched Serena Yeats who seemed sleepy.
He glanced at his parents and promptly stood up, picking up Serena Yeats horizontally, "Dad, Mom, Serena is tired, I’m taking her to rest."
After speaking, he ignored his parents’ shocked expressions.
Carrying Serena Yeats, he went straight upstairs.
"Old man, your son seems to have finally figured things out."
"Isn’t this what you wanted?"
"Hmph, as if you don’t want grandchildren."
The two elderly folks, with their combined age over a hundred, bickered as they walked outside.
The next day.
Elias Lancaster went to work while Serena Yeats was still asleep. Before leaving, he instructed not to disturb her rest, as she didn’t need to attend school now, she should focus on recuperating.
After the meeting, Elias Lancaster sat in his office, thinking about how Serena Yeats seemed thinner last night when he held her.
He furrowed his brows, thinking he needed to properly replenish her, but right now she couldn’t eat much, seemed anxious, without a sense of security.
"Quentin Shaw!"
Quentin Shaw promptly came in. "President Lancaster."
"How does one give a woman a sense of security and make her happy?"
Quentin Shaw, "..."
Quentin Shaw wanted to say he didn’t have a girlfriend so he didn’t know, but he dared not.
He could only share what he often heard from the office about this topic.
"Women care a lot about status, especially legitimate and rightful, wedding ceremonies, and such. Spend time shopping and watching movies with her."
Elias Lancaster nodded.
He then glanced at Serena Yeats’ profile, noting that her mother hadn’t wanted her to attend school, but the community intervened to let her go.
She started studying late, and this May 20th she would turn twenty.
Suddenly, he thought of something, his mood brightening with a smile.
He made a call.
Got up and left the company.
Back home, Serena Yeats was about to eat lunch when she saw the unexpected visitor, quite surprised.
"Uncle, you’re not at work? Why are you back?"
"I came back to accompany you for lunch, and take you somewhere this afternoon," Elias Lancaster said softly.
"Okay~"
After lunch, feeling sleepy, Serena Yeats went to nap.
When she woke up, she found herself in the car, opened her eyes to see outside the window, "Civil Affairs Bureau?"
"Serena, you’re awake?" Elias Lancaster’s tone was very gentle.
"Uncle, why are we here?" Serena Yeats asked puzzled.
"Serena, let’s get married." Elias Lancaster looked into her eyes, saying seriously, "Don’t worry, I will surely treat you well."
"But..."
"Don’t you want to take responsibility for me?" Elias Lancaster, fearing she might reject him, interrupted her with a hint of grievance in his voice. "Do you want our baby to be born without status?"
Serena Yeats’s mind froze for a moment.
Then she thought, yes, if they got married, then the baby wouldn’t be born out of wedlock, but her family was too flawed to match with him.
She truly liked Elias Lancaster, and decided in her heart to study hard in the future, striving to be worthy of him.
So.
She nodded.
Elias Lancaster held her hand as they got out of the car and walked into the Civil Affairs Bureau together, where the pre-arranged people were already waiting.
In a few minutes, the marriage certificate was handled, during their oath and photo-taking, they both held the marriage certificate and exchanged smiles, happiness in their smiles, with a sweet aroma filling the air.
The photographer quickly pressed the shutter to capture this happy moment.
Until they left the Civil Affairs Bureau, Serena Yeats still hadn’t fully come to her senses.
Had she really married Elias Lancaster?
She stared at the red book in her hand, stunned in disbelief.
Suddenly.
The red book in her hand was pulled away.
"To prevent it from getting lost, I’ll keep the marriage certificate," Elias Lancaster said with a smile.
Stowing away the marriage certificate, he picked up Serena Yeats horizontally, teased, "Mrs. Lancaster, congratulations on the wedding!"
Serena Yeats, stared at by his deep eyes, blushed for some reason.
Elias Lancaster was charmed, chuckled lightly, carried her to the car, and took her to work.
When exiting the elevator, the people at the secretary’s office saw Elias Lancaster carrying a woman into the office.
Everyone was so shocked their chins almost dropped.
"Serena, I ordered strawberry cake," Elias Lancaster’s gaze softened when he looked at her.
Opening the cake, he placed it in front of Serena Yeats, "Try it."
Serena Yeats smelled the cake’s fragrance, took a spoonful, and put it in her mouth, the strawberry flavor spreading in her mouth.
"Delicious." Serena Yeats scooped another spoonful, bringing it to Elias Lancaster’s mouth.
"Uncle, try it, it’s really delicious."
