Chapter 19: Sharing a Room and a Bed

Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Sharing a Room and a Bed

Elias Lancaster looked at her sweet smile and unconsciously opened his mouth to eat, noticing Serena Yeats’ clear eyes watching him.

He smiled and nodded, "It tastes good."

He didn’t like sweets, but now he found that a different way of eating sweets could be quite delicious.

Serena took a few more bites, then suddenly stared at the spoon dumbfounded; she seemed to have used her own spoon to feed Elias Lancaster just now.

In an instant, she froze there, her face turning as red as a cooked shrimp.

Elias Lancaster saw her suddenly stop eating and noticed her flushed face.

He asked worriedly, "Serena, are you feeling uncomfortable somewhere?"

As he spoke, he reached out to touch her forehead; she wasn’t feverish, but he felt something was off when he looked at her. He glanced at the cake on the table.

"Are you feeling unwell somewhere?"

Serena snapped back to reality, afraid to look at him, keeping her head down with a wandering gaze.

"I... I’m not unwell, the cake is delicious."

Suddenly.

He understood, instinctively licking his lips, and reluctantly stood up; his little girl was too shy.

"Then you finish eating, I’ll go handle some work, and then we’ll go home soon."

He dared not tease the little girl now, lest she get scared and refuse to share the bed at night.

Serena nodded, and when she heard the sound of the keyboard typing, she finally dared to sneak a peek at Elias Lancaster.

She touched her chest; why was her heart beating so fast?

After dinner, Elias Lancaster held Serena’s hand during their walk.

Upon returning, Elias Lancaster went into the study.

Nanny Livingston brought in a cup of coffee.

"Master, Young Madam’s belongings have been moved to the master bedroom."

"Hmm."

"And you..."

"I’ll sleep on the couch."

Nanny Livingston had an expression of ’just as I expected’; seeing the Young Madam’s attitude towards the Master, their relationship hadn’t fully developed, and her Master still hadn’t fully won Serena’s heart.

"Master, the couch isn’t comfortable; perhaps, I should tidy up..."

Nanny Livingston’s words were directly cut off.

"No need."

Nanny Livingston nodded.

Elias Lancaster thought of something, his eyes softened.

A servant led Serena Yeats to the master bedroom, "Young Madam, starting today you’ll be staying here, everything is organized, you rest first, I’ll head downstairs."

Serena Yeats stood in the room staring at the bed, dazzlingly bright red with joy, rooted in place.

For quite a while, she was lost in thought.

Yes, today she and Elias Lancaster got their marriage certificate; they were going to live together.

Thinking about them sharing a room, sleeping on the same bed, she felt very nervous.

Nervous enough to make her palms sweat.

Elias Lancaster finished his work and returned to the room, seeing Serena Yeats already washed up and sitting on the bed, "Sorry, it’s the wedding night, but I was too busy with work today."

"No... no... it’s alright, w-w-work is important," Serena stammered, nervous to the point of incoherence.

Elias Lancaster knew what was up with her and chuckled, "You sleep first; I’ll sleep on the couch."

"Ring..."

Elias Lancaster’s phone rang.

"You sleep early; I’ll go take a call."

Serena Yeats hurriedly nodded.

Upon seeing the closed door, she breathed a sigh of relief.

She lay on this room’s bed occupying Elias Lancaster’s spot, remembering his words about sleeping on the couch.

Elias Lancaster had to work to support her and the baby, already very tired, and now sleeping on the couch meant he wouldn’t rest well.

Thinking about this, she returned to her previous room, hugging her own blanket and pillow back, lying down on the couch to sleep.

Elias Lancaster completed his tasks and returned, seeing a raised lump on the couch.

The room door was some distance from the couch; in the dim light, he could see Serena’s small form curled on the couch, wrapped snugly in the blanket.

Her small cherry mouth slightly open, she was sleeping soundly.

He frowned; why was the little girl sleeping on the couch?

He bent down to pick up Serena Yeats, walked to the bed, and after tidying up, was about to leave when a small hand grabbed his.

His body stiffened, looking at Serena Yeats.

She limply opened her eyes, "The couch is uncomfortable to sleep on, tiring."

Seeing the girl’s puzzled look, he sat on the bed, his fingers gently brushing her cheek.

"Serena, do you know what you’re doing?"

"Uncle, sleepy, sleep," seemingly on autopilot, Serena Yeats tugged Elias Lancaster into bed.

Just as Elias Lancaster lay down, a round little head nestled into his embrace, snuggling around.

His face immediately froze.

He looked down; the person in his arms was already asleep.

"Comfortable."

Serena subconsciously murmured, her head snuggling again and testing Elias Lancaster’s patience.

Elias Lancaster took a deep breath; he was a normal man, and toward Serena Yeats, he was eager and intrigued.

Instantly feeling a bit restless, his body tensed.

"Serena, don’t move."

With one sentence, the person in his arms really stopped moving.

Elias Lancaster took a few deep breaths, holding the person in his arms, slowly closing his eyes.

Serena Yeats slept very soundly, but poor Master Lancaster didn’t fall asleep until after midnight.

Seemingly due to a sense of security, Serena Yeats awoke very early in the morning, feeling trapped all around.

Unable to move, feeling very hot, opening her eyes, a handsome face loomed large right before her vision.

Uncle...

She was nearly startled into screaming, thankfully she quickly covered her mouth.

What was going on?

She clearly slept on the couch; how did she end up in bed with Uncle and wrapped in each other’s arms?

She subtly moved her body, sensing Elias Lancaster was about to wake; she quickly closed her eyes, pretending to sleep and dared not move.

Elias Lancaster woke, his eyes briefly foggy, recalling memory, looking at Serena Yeats’ sleeping face, couldn’t help but smile, and left a kiss on her forehead.

"Slept well, didn’t you?"

Serena Yeats under the blanket lightly clutched the blanket, her heart racing, nearly about to leap out of her throat.

Feeling the bed beside her rise, and hearing a gentle closing door sound, she cautiously opened her eyes, seeing he was gone.

Only then did she fully open her eyes, sit up, and took deep breaths.

She touched her flushed face, only after a while did she come to her senses, telling herself not to overthink....

Just comforting herself like this, she dallied until she saw the time was already nine o’clock, usually around this time Elias Lancaster left for work.

Only then did she leave the room.

Otherwise, she really didn’t know how to face Elias Lancaster.

She slowly walked downstairs to the dining room.

The next moment.

A familiar figure came into view.

Elias Lancaster was sitting in the dining room having breakfast, upon hearing her, he looked up at her.

"Awake? Come have breakfast."
