Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Meeting the Parents Officially
Serena Yeats withdrew her thoughts, "Uncle, do you have someone you like?"
Elias Lancaster chuckled lightly, "Silly girl, besides liking you, I have no one else."
Serena Yeats’ heart returned to its place, she lifted her little face and smiled sweetly.
Elias Lancaster looked at her smiling face, his Adam’s apple involuntarily moving.
Meeting her clear eyes, his gaze fell on her red lips, slowly, Elias Lancaster leaned closer to her.
At that moment.
Serena Yeats’ phone rang.
It was a call from home.
She quickly put her phone on silent and didn’t look at it again.
Elias Lancaster sensed her panic.
Who was calling that she didn’t dare to answer?
Serena Yeats truly didn’t dare to answer, lately, the family would make calls every other day, and she didn’t dare to answer.
If her mother knew that she wasn’t working part-time, she would scold her.
She instinctively didn’t want Elias Lancaster to hear about these matters.
She didn’t want to lose face in front of Elias Lancaster.
The phone kept vibrating, there was no way Elias Lancaster didn’t know.
"Why aren’t you answering the phone?" Elias Lancaster gently asked.
"No need to answer." Serena Yeats lowered her head and whispered.
Elias Lancaster probably guessed, "Is it your family?"
Serena Yeats nodded.
"They treat you poorly, bully you?" Elias Lancaster asked again.
Serena Yeats nodded again.
Elias Lancaster’s expression turned a bit cold, he had investigated and knew her family treated her poorly, but hearing it directly was a different feeling.
"Don’t worry, I’ll handle it."
Serena Yeats shook her head, "Uncle, I can deal with it, you don’t need to bother, they’re not worth it."
"Are you sure?" Elias Lancaster felt his little girl was too gentle, unable to cope with those vampires.
But Serena Yeats’ attitude was firm, "I can do it."
Elias Lancaster chose to respect her.
In the end, Serena Yeats simply turned off the phone.
Mrs.Yeats, Scarlett Jewel, hearing the shutdown prompt tone from the phone, cursed loudly.
"The good-for-nothing dares to shut down the phone, didn’t let her accompany Boss Hayes nicely and even injured him, causing me to pay for it, I swear I’ll beat her to death when I find her."
Scarlett Jewel trembled with rage.
Mr. Yeats, David Yeats, sitting on the sofa, nonchalantly said, "Could it be that she knows she’s not our biological child?"
Upon hearing this, Scarlett Jewel glared at him, "So what if she knows? I’ve raised her all these years, found such a wealthy man for her, aren’t we good to her?"
The next day.
Nanny Livingston led a group carrying a box towards the study, Serena Yeats glanced over, it was books related to pregnancy and childcare, along with some other books.
In the afternoon, with nothing to do, Serena Yeats went to the study, picked up a comprehensive guide to pregnancy, and started reading seriously.
But when she reached the sections about precautions in sexual relations and safe positions, her face blushed, unable to continue.
She enjoyed reading books on design, like jewelry and clothing design.
After a while, she got sleepy and fell asleep on the sofa.
Feeling herself lifted in the air, she rubbed her eyes, "Uncle, weren’t you off to work? Why did you come back?"
Elias Lancaster didn’t answer her, "Sleeping here easily leads to illness, given your special condition, you can’t take medicine."
"I’m sorry, it won’t happen again," Serena Yeats apologized.
Elias Lancaster’s expression softened a bit, "Go sleep in the bedroom."
"I’m not sleepy anymore." Serena Yeats struggled to get out of Elias Lancaster’s embrace.
Elias Lancaster held her hand and led her downstairs.
Once they arrived at the living room, they saw two elderly people sitting on the sofa, one of whom she had seen last time, Old Madam Lancaster, and another gentleman she hadn’t met before.
But she had somewhat guessed his identity as he should be Uncle’s father, with a stern face and sharp eyebrows, similar to Uncle’s appearance.
Then, would her two babies be born just as cold as them?
Serena Yeats dared not think further, withdrawing her thoughts, stepping back, she stood behind Elias Lancaster.
Only to hear Elias Lancaster call out, "Dad, Mom."
Mr. Lancaster and Mrs. Lancaster’s expressions were somewhat indifferent, merely responding with a sound.
Serena Yeats felt a chill on her scalp, under this intense pressure, she greeted them, "Old Mr. Lancaster, Old Madam Lancaster."
This is how she should address them, right?
She had no choice, in her current position, she truly didn’t know how she should call them.
Old Mr. Lancaster merely responded with a faint ’Hm,’ while on the contrary, Old Madam Lancaster joyfully ’Oh’ with a smile.
As her gaze caught sight of the two holding hands, her smile widened.
The fact that they were holding hands proved her son liked her, which was good news for The Lancaster Family, having a daughter-in-law’s tea time was not far away.
Old Madam Lancaster smiled, got up, and pulled Serena Yeats over to sit on the sofa, "Serena, how have you been lately?"
But Serena Yeats stood motionlessly.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to move, but her hand was still being held, Elias Lancaster wouldn’t let go.
She forcefully pulled her hand, but couldn’t pull it out.
Serena Yeats sneakily glanced at Old Master Lancaster and Old Madam Lancaster, awkwardly smiling, fearing they’d be unhappy.
Old Madam Lancaster looked at her son’s unwilling hand to let go, thinking about it, decided to let it go, not arguing with him, who was just getting the hang of things.
"Serena, come, just sit here." Old Madam Lancaster pulled her, letting her sit nearby.
Serena Yeats looked at Elias Lancaster’s hand, thinking, how had this uncle become so clingy, behaving like this in front of elders without manners, it’s not good.
Looking at those distinct joints again, admiring them, they looked good.
"Serena, I heard you’ve taken a leave from school?" Old Madam Lancaster asked.
"Old Madam Lancaster, my recent pregnancy symptoms have been quite severe, going to school doesn’t allow me to keep up, it’s best to take a leave to properly care for the baby," Serena Yeats softly said.
Old Madam Lancaster nodded, "Then we should take good care, no rush for studies, later, Elias can tutor you, he is a top student, you’ll keep up, it’s just hard work for you."
She had heard from the family doctor, reporting Serena Yeats was under tremendous pressure, nearly reaching the stage of depression.
She had naturally heard about the accident and hospitalization.
She had gone to the hospital then, upon seeing Elias Lancaster feeding, she didn’t appear, knowing everything was fine, she went back home.
Today, she couldn’t hold back and wanted to come and see.
"Look, you’ve lost weight, you must be exhausted," Old Madam Lancaster lovingly touched Serena Yeats’ cheek.
"Old Madam Lancaster, it’s nothing, these are normal pregnancy symptoms," Serena Yeats appreciated Old Madam Lancaster’s genuine care for her, "It’s really nothing, it’ll pass."
"I’ll try hard to eat a bit more," Serena Yeats reassured, she also wanted to gain some weight, but she’d vomit after eating, it wasn’t her intention.
"Come, Serena. This is our Lancaster Family’s ancestral jade bracelet, now handing it over to you," Old Madam Lancaster happily said, "And this, this is my gift for you."
"Old Madam Lancaster, this is too magnificent, I can’t accept it," Serena Yeats looked at the red property certificate and the priceless bracelet, quickly waving her hands.
Elias Lancaster directly put the bracelet onto Serena Yeats’ hand.
"Serena, keep it, this is the gift from the elders, it wouldn’t be good not to accept," Elias Lancaster patiently coaxed.
"Thank you, Old Madam Lancaster," Serena Yeats obediently said.
"This is from me," the always silent Old Mr. Lancaster spoke, handing over a bank card.
Serena Yeats instinctively looked at Elias Lancaster, seeing him nod.
She then accepted, "Thank you, Old Mr. Lancaster."
"Good, good, good. This counts as formally meeting the parents, Serena, can I often come to see you in the future?" Old Madam Lancaster thoughtfully asked for her opinion.
