Chapter 31: 31. I have a baby inside me?
AT THE SAME TIME
MICHAEL
I had barely managed to let my eyes flutter open, still half limp in Zavier’s arms, when I caught Rose leaning toward Selene, whispering something so quietly I couldn’t hear it, but oh gods, the way Selene’s eyes snapped wide and her lips thinned... I knew trouble was coming. Before I could protest, Selene whipped around worried for first time ever.
"Bring the doctor! Now!"She shouted.
I froze. Zavier stiffened immediately, silver eyes flashing like twin swords.
"Doctor?!" He asked.
"Yes!" Selene snapped, pointing like a general commanding an army. "Now, or he could be-"
"Dead? Exploding? Collapsing into moonflower petals?" I squeaked, panic flooding my veins.
My wolf bristled, tail puffing out, ears flat against my skull. From nowhere, a middle aged man appeared, hair slightly frazzled, robe swinging, hands already flying over a bag of instruments like he’d been anticipating a war instead of a fainting omega.
"Master Michael?" He asked cautiously, eyes wide. "I heard... something about you?"
I squeaked again and flailed my arms helplessly.
"I, I’m fine! Totally fine! Don’t, don’t touch me! I can... I can-"I started.
Zavier tightened his arms around me, growl low and protective.
"No one touches him. He’s mine. Got it?"He said.
Adrian’s jaw dropped, Terrence muttered something unintelligible, and Xavier looked like he’d seen a ghost or maybe two. Rose, meanwhile, was gleeful, green eyes sparkling like she’d just lit a firecracker in a library.
"Oh, this is perfect." She whispered to Selene, smirking.
Charlie, ever gleeful, clapped his hands softly.
"Big brother, look at all the fuss you cause!"Charlie sighed.
My face burned. My wolf whimpered, embarrassed and panicked, pressed closer into Zavier. The doctor made it to us, pulled out a thermometer, a little pulse reader, and some other strange devices that looked like they belonged in a magician’s kit.
"Please... just, don’t touch" I squeaked, but it was no use.
Zavier glared daggers at everyone, chest rumbling low.
"Step back. He’s fine. Do you see this?" He gestured to me in his arms. "Fucking fine. Mine."
The doctor froze mid step, staring at Zavier’s silver eyes and the way the bond mark glimmered faintly.
"Ah... okay... yes, just... checking..."He said nervously.
I groaned softly, eyes rolling back, wishing, no, praying that I could dissolve into the ground. Charlie, of course, leaned close to me.
"See? Even fainting makes you the center of attention. Isn’t that fun?"Charlie whispered.
I blinked, mortified. My wolf yipped quietly, agreeing in spirit.
"I think Selene underestimated the drama he could cause."Rose said.
Selene sputtered, glaring daggers at Rose.
"This is unacceptable!"She said.
I was half terrified, half ready to laugh hysterically at the absurdity, trapped in Zavier’s arms while a full doctor team fussed over me, Charlie beaming like I’d just won some kind of golden omega award, and Rose gleefully egging Selene on.
"Mine!" Zavier reminded everyone again, pressing a kiss lightly to my temple, wolf purring traitorously, and I... well, I was already plotting revenge. The doctor finally crouched in front of me, tools clattering in his hands, eyes wide behind thick spectacles. He tilted his head, squinting like he was trying to decipher an ancient riddle.
"Master Michael... when was your last... heat?" He asked, slow, careful, like he was asking me to recite forbidden poetry.
I froze. My mouth went dry. My cheeks heated. My wolf whimpered somewhere deep in my chest.
"Uh..." I started, but Zavier’s silver eyes shot me a glance, sharp and pointed.
"Two weeks ago." Zavier said, flat, unblinking.
The doctor blinked rapidly, adjusted his glasses, and muttered under his breath. "Ah... oh gods..." He straightened suddenly, voice rising in alarm. "He has a... a pup in him!"
The words hit the room like a cannonball. Adrian’s golden eyes nearly popped out of his skull.
"What?!"He shouted.
Terrence’s storm grey jaw dropped, fingers twitching like he wanted to punch the nearest tree. Xavier’s dark, calculating expression faltered for a split second, replaced by... horror? Shock? A combination that made me want to snicker. Selene froze, a vein twitching in her temple.
"WHAT?"She screamed.
Rose, naturally, was the only one who didn’t freak out she simply grinned, green eyes sparkling with wicked delight.
"Ohhh... that explains so much." She murmured.
Charlie, ever the cheerful mischief maker, clapped softly.
"Big brother! That’s amazing! You’ve got a pup in you! How cool is that?"He asked.
I blinked at him.
"What?!"I asked.
"Apparently." The doctor continued, flustered and now scribbling furiously in a notebook. "His physiology... combined with the bonding mark... indicates a fully developed omega pup is already present. This... this is very rare! Extremely rare!"
My wolf let out a strangled yelp of panic. I clutched Zavier’s sleeve like a lifeline, face blazing.
"Extremely rare?" I squeaked. "You mean I’m... I’m..."
"Yes." The doctor said, nodding frantically. "You’re carrying a pup. Right now."
The room erupted. Adrian’s jaw practically hit the floor, Terrence muttered a string of curses, Xavier’s dark eyes darted around calculating every possible outcome, and Selene’s hands flew to her face like she’d just seen a ghost. Zavier, for once, didn’t even flinch. He just leaned down, voice low.
"See? I told you he was special."He smirked and kissed my forehead.
Rose simply laughed, green eyes gleaming.
"Ohhh... this just got so much better."She said.
Charlie bounced slightly in place, clapping his hands again.
"Pup! Pup! Pup! Isn’t that amazing, big brother?"He said.
I groaned, burying my face in my hands. My wolf whimpered and pressed closer to my chest, clearly sharing my exact sentiment. And somewhere in the chaos, Selene hissed.
"Impossible... this shouldn’t be happening..."She whispered.
Suddenly, I swayed in Zavier’s arms, the world tilting like it was laughing at me. My knees felt like jelly, my stomach twisting in knots. Panic clawed at my chest, and before I could protest, my vision blurred again.
"Michael!" Zavier’s voice was sharp, panicked, and yet grounding all at once.
"I... I..." My voice failed me. My wolf whimpered, pressed closer to my chest, and I felt the edges of consciousness slipping.
The doctor, who had been scribbling notes frantically, snapped into action.
"No! Stay with me, Master Michael!" He crouched, hands gentle but firm on my shoulders, giving me a reassuring look that somehow kept the faintest tether to reality intact. Zavier hissed at anyone who came too close, silver eyes glowing with danger.
"Step back! Mine!"Zavier shouted.
Charlie, ever cheerful, bounced on the balls of his feet.
"Big brother! You’re okay! You’re okay!"Charlie said worriedly.
"I... can’t... think..." I whispered, swaying in Zavier’s arms.
"Focus on my voice." The doctor said softly, kneeling in front of me. He touched my forehead lightly, checking my pulse and breathing. "Deep breaths... slow... in and out. You’re... you’re fine. Just... shock. Yes. That’s all."
Somewhere above the chaos, a soft, radiant light began to glow. The air shimmered with warmth and calm, and a gentle, melodic voice rang out.
"Ah... Michael."Moon Goddess said.
I blinked. My heart skipped in disbelief as the Moon Goddess herself appeared, robes glinting with starlight, hair like silver threads of moonbeams. She radiated joy, her eyes sparkling like she’d just received the best news in a millennium.
"You are... extraordinary." She said softly, her gaze falling on me. "Not just your legacy, but everything you are... everything you carry. You’ve surpassed even my highest hopes."
I nearly swooned in Zavier’s arms again, blinking up at her.
"G-Goddess..." I croaked, voice trembling.
She smiled, eyes warm and unyielding, and for a moment, the chaotic panic of the room softened into awe and reverence. Rose clapped softly, delighted, while Selene and Adrian stared, wide eyed, as if seeing a living miracle. Even Terrence and Xavier were frozen, caught between awe and disbelief. Zavier’s arms tightened around me protectively, but his jaw quirked in the faintest of amused smirks.
"See? Mine. The Goddess herself says so."Zavier grinned happily.
I groaned softly, pressing my face into his chest, wolf curling tightly against me, as the Moon Goddess floated closer.
"You’re carrying your pup with courage and grace, Michael." She said. Her hands hovered above me, radiating warmth and reassurance. "And now... you understand your legacy, your bloodline, your destiny. All of it. You are not just special, you are chosen."
I blinked rapidly, still struggling to process everything, cheeks burning as my wolf yipped softly, echoing my stunned thoughts. Charlie bounced closer, eyes glittering.
"See, big brother! Even the Goddess thinks you’re amazing!"Charlie said.
"I... I... I..." I stammered, heart pounding. "I don’t even know how to... what do I...?"
"Shh." The Moon Goddess said softly, a gentle hand brushing my cheek. "Just breathe, Michael. Everything is as it should be. You are loved, cherished, and guided. And all of us." She gestured to the gathered crowd. "We are here for you and pup."
For the first time that day, amidst chaos, shock, and absurdity, I felt... safe. Safe, even with the world spinning madly around me. And in that moment, for just a heartbeat, I almost forgot how mortifyingly exposed I was... Almost.
