Chapter 158: Chapter 106-107: Dispute / Coincidence_4

Unfortunately, after talking for so long, she was rejected by Captain Jiang, but surprisingly, he ended up helping her! What an unexpected joy!

Captain Jiang hung up the phone and looked at Ye Xuan next to him with a wry smile: "We actually got convinced by this girl. It’s quite funny."

"Captain Jiang, she’s right. Mayor Luo is very upright and dislikes troubling his friends excessively. This is safer."

Ye Xuan’s lips curved upwards: "This young girl really impresses me."

Captain Jiang teased with a smirk, "So, have you made up your mind to become my nephew-in-law?"

"Let’s first ask if your niece likes me. She’s torturing me a lot, not showing any interest. Aren’t you afraid I’d embarrass our team by misreading her feelings?" Ye Xuan rarely made a joke.

"Alright, I’ll call now." As Captain Jiang spoke, he actually began dialing. Ye Xuan was calm: "Go ahead, who’s afraid?"

Seeing him about to press the last digit, Ye Xuan maintained his composed demeanor. Captain Jiang helplessly stopped his action: "No, my Ye’er is still too young. We’ll talk about it later."

Ye Xuan looked down on Captain Jiang: "I figured you wouldn’t dare to make the call."

Captain Jiang grumbled, "Alright, I fell into your little trap again. If I had really made the call, you would’ve been scared."

Ye Xuan laughed: "You only get one chance!"

Captain Jiang laughed at the misfortune: "Yes, there’s only one chance. Think about it. It’s not just you and I who see Ye’er’s worth. This girl plans to apply for a military academy. Her looks and skills will ensure she’s not just a nobody at school. You might regret it later."

"Captain Jiang, how can you bring everything back to this topic? I’m really impressed," Ye Xuan said with a bitter smile.

"Of course, I care because I see you’re good and my niece is too. When have you seen me worry like this for others?"

Ye Xuan: "..."

...

"Hello, students," Mr. Yu spoke as the class grew quiet, "Starting today, we have a new member. Please welcome her!" A stunningly beautiful girl walked into the classroom, Luo Ye recognized her—Yan Xingnong!

"Hello everyone, my name is Yan Xingnong. I’m 17 years old and have transferred to our class due to my parents’ job relocation. Please take care of me," she said sweetly, a stark contrast to her fierce appearance yesterday.

"Wow..."

The beautiful girl was quite popular, especially among male students.

"Do you know her?"

Tang Luo looked at Luo Ye curiously. Luo Ye merely rubbed his cheek, a familiar gesture known to be his sign of defeat.

"I sort of know her. I’ll tell you about it later."

Yan Xingnong, about to sit at the empty seat Mr. Yu pointed out for her, suddenly stopped upon seeing Luo Ye. She excitedly tugged at Yu Qing and whispered something to him, after which Mr. Yu glanced at Luo Ye, pondering slightly, "Deng Xiaoping, pack up your bag and move to this empty seat so Yan Xingnong can sit by you."

Deng Xiaoping, the girl who sat in front of Luo Ye and Tang Luo, wasn’t fond of mingling with others. She seemed quite happy to move, though. The seat had been empty for two weeks due to a student’s illness.

Quickly clutching her large backpack, Yan Xingnong ran up to Luo Ye, "Luo Ye, I can’t believe we met so soon! By the way, can I swap seats with this classmate?"

"Not possible!" Tang Luo pouted. "Just sit at the front, alright? Couldn’t Mr. Yu see what it meant not to move me?"

"No swaps then, why so fierce?" Yan Xingnong playfully stuck out her tongue: "Sitting in front is just the same."

Luo Ye whispered, "Um... watch out, you’re ruining the ladylike image you just set!"

"Alright, the two students have switched places, please be quiet now, class is starting..."

"Let’s talk more after class." Yan Xingnong quickly turned back and straightened up in her seat.

...

After class, Ying Nuo came looking for Luo Ye and Tang Luo and saw Yan Xingnong animatedly grabbing Luo Ye’s arm while Tang Luo and Luo Ye listened intently. After knocking on the window twice, the pair finally snapped back to reality, causing Ying Nuo to pout dissatisfiedly, feeling ignored as the two had quickly made a new friend in their class!

Luo Ye and Tang Luo exchanged glances, then quickly dragged Yan Xingnong outside.

"Nuonuo, let me introduce you. This is our new classmate, Yan Xingnong. She was just sharing a story about her target shooting with me and Tangtang."

"Target shooting?" Ying Nuo looked at Xingnong confusedly, "Is your dad a cop too?"

Xingnong laughed and explained: "No, my family members are all in the military, not police."

"Oh really? My dad’s a cop though, so I guess there’s a connection. Did you just transfer today?" Ying Nuo quickly brushed aside her earlier annoyance.

"Yeah, but I met Luo Ye yesterday and didn’t ask which school she was from," Xingnong happily laughed: "It’s great to have friends so soon after transferring."

"Don’t try to take Luo Ye from me; she’s my best friend," Ying Nuo quickly recalled her earlier feelings and hugged Luo Ye’s arm.

"Ahem..." Tang Luo cleared his throat. "Actually, Ying Nuo is Luo Ye’s prospective sister-in-law. She’s probably worried you might take that spot, ahem..."

"Dead Tangtang!"

"Luo Ye, is she telling the truth? Is she your prospective sister-in-law?" Xingnong’s large beautiful eyes widened, her juicy gossiper look causing a boy nearby to bump into another, eliciting laughter from everyone.

"Don’t listen to Tangtang’s nonsense," Ying Nuo argued, her face blushing.

"Luo Ye..."

Suddenly Luo Ye realized, this Miss Yan was quite persistent.

"Since it’s a military family, are you also planning to apply to a military academy?" Luo Ye didn’t answer the "prospective sister-in-law" question yet, changing the subject instead. After all, it’s too sensitive a topic for just becoming acquainted.

Today’s update ends here, alas, feeling expressionless.
