Chapter 422: The Leviathan’s Last Gambit?
C-CRACK! SWOOSH...!
Lillian shot out from the other side of the Leviathan’s right skull. With her body covered in blood and all sorts of biological matter, she fell towards the surface of the water and landed on her feet.
And as she did that, countless translucent lines followed after her, connecting onto her back before slowly turning a dark red and bright blue.
Lillian breathed heavily as she turned back around and found the right head of the Twin-headed Seawater Leviathan falling slowly to the side and going limp as blood spilt out of its skull and merged into the sea.
Having now dealt with one head, their chances of winning should increase by more than 40 per cent!
Lillian’s body shook excitedly while keeping a partial focus so that she wouldn’t accidentally fall into the water. Even if it didn’t truly matter, considering she was already soaking wet.
The remaining head of the Seawater Leviathan watched as its sibling suddenly became limp—worry flashed through its eyes, and so did anger.
It glared in Lillian’s direction and manipulated the water around her to spin and trap her inside a deadly whirlpool, which would twist her body into two.
Lillian lost her footing and fell a couple of metres down into the eye of the swirling whirlpool. Then, she watched as the water above her began to flood inwards—the Leviathan was going to trap her!
Her eyes flashed with refusing blue light as the runes on her boots flashed with light and immediately teleported her out of the whirpool.
And after escaping, Lillian created an air platform and stood on it.
She watched the remaining head of the Twin-headed Seawater Leviathan bit down on the neck of its brother and ripped it off its main body, ultimately freeing itself from its brother’s dead weight.
Lillian summoned her scythe and swapped hands with her shortsword. Then, raising the scythe over her left shoulder, she said:
"[4th Technique of the Deep Sea Hunter: DrowningNet]...!"
With a sequence of quick and interlaced slashes, Lillian’s scythe glowed a deep and bright gold as electricity shot out in waves and arcs—forming a fishing net of pure electricity, which shot forward with immense speed.
She then shot forward as well, following after it as closely as she could right after putting away her scythe.
The Seawater Leviathan glowed out a furious growl, recalling this specific attack, and immediately let out a roar that caused the waves to rise above the incoming fishing net.
The fishing net crashed with the force of countless lightning bolts and caused the wave to explode outwards, splashing over the Leviathan, who immediately settled its gaze on Lillian’s fast approaching figure gliding through the air.
It let out another growl as its scales glowed once again and charged in with intense speed, which caused the waves to overturn.
The Leviathan then opened its maw, which was now covered in a bright and radiant blue light—a countermeasure it had devised if Lillian were to try and enter its mouth to defeat it from the inside.
Seconds before they collided, the world seemingly slowed down as someone off to the side—followed by an overly enraged illusory seabeast—charged towards them through the air.
Captain Righthook, having recovered some of this mana, flew towards them with speed reaching that of 500 metres per minute.
And once he did reach them, so did the illusion of his Leviathan’s Descent, which crashed and bit down on the neck of Leviathan the moment his blade sank into its thick scales.
Leviathan’s Descent—the 5th technique of the Deep Sea Hunter—was created for the sole purpose of shattering defences and ending duels as decisively as possible.
And for that reason alone, just the illusion biting down on the thick scales of the Leviathan—which, although mimicking the texture of stone, had the toughness far surpassing any mundane material by several folds—cracked under the might of the illusion’s bite and even shattering.
This was the true power of techniques, allowing those of lower Tiers to face enemies far above their "weight-level".
However, even techniques had their requirements and drawbacks.
After Captain Righthook had managed to sink his blade deep into the Leviathan’s neck, breaching through its scales, the blood vessels in his arms ruptured.
Captain Righthook then vomited blood as he tried to return his arms to normal, but then felt his wings and 2nd pair of arms slowly disappear.
He had run out of mana...
With his defence against the Leviathan’s Wrath both times and using his 5th Technique constantly had bled him dry, not only counting the additional limbs he had created.
He watched as the scales began to glow slightly, and he sensed the temperature around him increase dramatically.
The water vapours that slowly appeared began to burn him alive, as well as the scales, as though he was stuck to a frying pan.
Was the Leviathan trying to burn him off?!
The Seawater Leviathan suddenly became a massive sight to behold for those in the distance as its entire body began to glow, even brighter than when it released its beam attack.
Lillian, who had finally reached the Leviathan, saw what it was doing and immediately teleported towards its remaining eye.
What it was about to do was let out an energy pulse that would vaporise them to death!
And that would mean...
Her clothes would also be vaporised off...
’I can’t let it burn off my clothes!’
Lillian appeared before its eye, stabbing and dragging her blade through it and destroying its vision.
She ignored the pain of the burning hot surface of the scales and continued to cling on; fortunately, she was able to keep back the hot water vapours.
Lillian looked down and towards the Captain, who was facing the same issue.
She smirked behind her mask, and after creating a few more Parasitic Lines, she shot them towards the bearded man, allowing him to reap the benefits of draining the Leviathan’s mana and vitality.
With all of these happening in such short periods, the Leviathan was only able to process the loss of its vision, which caused it to go into a blind rage.
Lillian held on tightly as the gigantic seabeast began to thrash its body left and right, slamming them and its neck into the water.
Because of this, the air in her lungs she squashed out of her like a pump, regardless of whether she had her chestplate on.
Eventually, the Seawater Leviathan’s blind rage subsided, and so did the burning temperature on its scales as they gradually lost their bright glow.
Lillian breathed a sigh of relief before holding on tightly for what was going to happen next.
After calming down, the Leviathan threw itself on its back before shooting downwards and towards the bottom of the sea with immense speed.
With its intellect and experience, it knew that the deeper it went, the more suffocating it became.
...
It was going to try to kill the two humans clinging to its body with the sea’s overwhelming water pressure...
