Chapter 3 The Medicine Cures the Illness

"Dean," Du Feizhong called respectfully.

This old man was their dean, Chen Hua.

"It's like this, this person wanted to administer medication to the patient privately, and I disagreed, so they started making a scene here," Du Feizhong stated simply and clearly, shifting the blame to Su Fan and Su Yutong.

"The doctor-patient relationship is already tense. You need to explain things patiently to them and avoid making it even more strained," Chen Hua admonished Du Feizhong.

"Are you the dean?" Su Fan stepped forward and asked.

"Yes, I am the dean of this hospital. May I ask who you are, young man?" Chen Hua asked Su Fan, looking confused.

"Oh, I'm the one who wanted to use the medicine. I just want to ask if you can save people or not. If you can't, are you just going to let the patient wait for death in your hospital?" Su Fan questioned aggressively.

"What kind of talk is that, young man? When a patient arrives at our hospital, we naturally do our utmost to save them. If we can't save them, it can only be due to our hospital's limited capabilities, or because the patient's condition is truly severe and has reached an irreversible stage. How could we possibly watch a patient wait for death?" Chen Hua's words were quite reasonable.

"Since that's the case, and this doctor has clearly stated that the patient cannot be saved, then I will try one last hope. Is there a problem with that?" Su Fan continued.

"This... Dr. Du, what exactly is going on?" Chen Hua finally realized something was amiss.

"It's like this..." Du Feizhong, seeing he couldn't hide it, could only truthfully explain the patient's condition to the dean.

After listening, the dean hurried to the patient's bedside to examine Su Yutong's father.

"Did you use the hemostatic agent?" Chen Hua asked.

"We did. We've tried every hemostatic method, and none of them worked," Du Feizhong shook his head.

Chen Hua's brow furrowed immediately. In his years of practice, he had never encountered such a situation. How could the bleeding not stop?

At this rate, the patient wouldn't survive the night.

"You mentioned you have an ancestral hemostatic powder. How confident are you that it can stop the bleeding? Is there any danger?" Chen Hua asked Su Fan.

"I can't guarantee it, I'd say about fifty percent. Its hemostatic ability is definitely top-notch, and I don't think there's any danger," Su Fan said after some thought.

After all, it was a healing medicine brought from the game. It certainly wouldn't have any serious side effects. The worst outcome couldn't possibly be worse than death.

"Alright, I will allow you to use your hemostatic powder in this hospital, but it must be with the consent of the patient's family. We will not be held responsible for any consequences," Chen Hua's approach was much more reasonable than Du Feizhong's. He agreed to let Su Fan use the ancestral medicine, but first clarified that the hospital would bear no responsibility for any outcome, effectively distancing themselves.

"No problem. If anything happens, I won't hold anyone responsible," Su Yutong immediately declared.

At this point, only Su Fan's hemostatic powder could save her father.

"However, as a doctor, I cannot allow a stranger to use an unverified medication on my patient. Therefore, I must test the efficacy of the hemostatic powder," Chen Hua said, taking out a scalpel and making a cut on his own finger.

This action stunned everyone present.

No one had expected such a method to test the effectiveness of Su Fan's hemostatic powder. Only Chen Hua had thought of it, and he had acted on it.

Chen Hua, who was over sixty, had aged cells, and wounds didn't heal easily. If his wound could stop bleeding quickly, it would prove that Su Fan's medicine was indeed effective.

Su Fan, snapping out of his shock, immediately took out the Jin Chuang powder. The Jin Chuang powder was contained in a gourd-shaped ceramic vessel. Su Fan poured a small amount of white powder from the opening onto Chen Hua's wound.

Within two seconds, the wound on Chen Hua's hand stopped bleeding.

Chen Hua was also stunned by the efficacy of the hemostatic powder. He had thought Su Fan's medicine might have some effect, as there were many miraculous ancestral formulas in folk medicine, but he hadn't expected it to be so astonishing. The bleeding stopped in mere seconds, and Chen Hua could even feel his wound scab over.

"Dean Chen, is it okay?" Su Fan asked Chen Hua.

"Of course! This hemostatic powder might truly be able to save this patient!" Chen Hua said excitedly.

"That's good."

With Chen Hua's confirmation, no one dared to stop Su Fan. Su Fan went to the patient's bedside. After the nurse cleaned the wound, Su Fan poured the Jin Chuang powder onto it.

Initially, the powder was quickly soaked through by the blood. Su Fan didn't stop, continuing to pour the Jin Chuang powder onto the wound until a layer of white powder appeared, at which point he stopped.

The wound on Su Yutong's father's chest had stopped bleeding.

"It worked! It really stopped!" Chen Hua was shocked. A condition he thought would be a historical medical case was being saved by a young man's medicine!

Du Feizhong was also incredulous. Could that kid's medicine really be that miraculous?

A flicker of greed appeared in Du Feizhong's eyes. If he could get his hands on the formula for this hemostatic powder, wouldn't he be recorded in medical history? Yunnan Baiyao would be utterly useless compared to this miraculous hemostatic powder!

Su Fan, of course, didn't notice that someone had developed greedy intentions towards him because of this Jin Chuang powder.

"Young man, are you willing to donate the formula for the hemostatic powder to the Medical Association? I thank you on behalf of the Medical Association!" Chen Hua said, gripping Su Fan's hand excitedly.

"I'm sorry, this is ancestral medicine powder, and the formula has been lost. The powder is limited," Su Fan politely declined. The Jin Chuang powder was from the game; he had no formula.

"This is a contribution to all of humanity. Think of the great merit! Don't give up contributing to humanity for immediate gain," Chen Hua patiently persuaded Su Fan.

Su Fan was getting annoyed. He had already said there was no formula, so why was he still pestering him?

"Dean Chen, my friend's belongings are his to decide, aren't they? Are you trying to morally blackmail him?" Su Yutong, noticing Su Fan's impatience, stepped forward to help him out.

"This... it's not moral blackmail. I genuinely just want more people to be able to use this miraculous hemostatic powder. Think about it, if this medicine were available to the military or exploration teams, wouldn't casualties be significantly reduced?" Chen Hua said earnestly.

"Dean Chen, I truly don't have the formula. I also want to make a small contribution to humanity, but I'm truly powerless to do so," Su Fan said helplessly.

"Dean Chen, Su Fan is a bit tired, and it's getting late. I'll take Su Fan back first. We can discuss anything else another day," Su Yutong stepped forward to help Su Fan decline.

Then she pulled Su Fan and left the ward.

"Mom, you take care of Dad first. I'll be back soon," Su Yutong said to Zhang Yuwei before turning back.

"Alright, you go see Xiao Su off. No rush, your dad is out of danger now," Zhang Yuwei said to Su Yutong with a smile. Her gaze towards Su Fan was full of satisfaction and gratitude. Without Su Fan, Dong Sheng might not have been saved.

Chen Hua watched Su Fan leave the hospital, shaking his head in disappointment. If this miraculous powder could be manufactured into a commercial drug, how many people would it benefit.

"Thank you," Su Fan said to Su Yutong, thanking her for helping him out of the awkward situation. Otherwise, he didn't know how long it would have dragged on.

"I should be thanking you. Thank you for saving my dad. If it weren't for you, my dad probably wouldn't have..." Su Yutong said sincerely to Su Fan.

"By the way, have you considered returning to work at the company? If you come back, I'll promote you to supervisor immediately. If you're not familiar with the business, I can find someone to teach you slowly," Su Yutong brought up the matter of work again.

"No need. I'll think about it. I want to rest for a few days," Su Fan politely declined. He would deal with work after he figured out what was going on with the game. He had no interest in going to work right now.

"Alright, here's my number. Call me anytime when you've made up your mind." The two exchanged phone numbers.

Su Fan's last entry into the game was very sudden. He fell asleep in bed and entered the game. Was sleeping the way to enter the game?

Thinking of this, Su Fan lay down in bed, ready to sleep, but he couldn't fall asleep. It wasn't even afternoon yet, and Su Fan wasn't tired at all. Moreover, the events he had experienced had made him very excited, making it difficult to fall asleep.

Su Fan rummaged through his bedside table and found a few melatonin pills. He had bought them at a pharmacy when he had insomnia while working before. Sleeping pills were not available at pharmacies now.

Su Fan took two pills and lay down in bed. Soon, he began to feel drowsy.
