Lu Ze noticed the change in the classroom and inwardly cursed. The sky had suddenly darkened, even flashing with lightning, which surely boded ill. Moreover, he’d seen countless Honkai beasts appearing across the campus. While they were mostly low-level, they were still beyond the capabilities of ordinary people.
“Kiana, you come with me… everyone else is best off staying in the classroom and waiting for rescue. Remember to lock all doors and windows. If you don’t want to die, do as I say.”
Lu Ze grabbed Kiana’s hand and bolted. The others were bewildered. They understood him, but his words made it sound like terrorists had invaded the campus. Surely there would be an announcement if that were the case.
However, by the time they noticed the monsters outside, it was already too late. Countless small flying Honkai beasts shattered the glass and burst in. Faced with such creatures, normal people were terrified. Yet, many male students attempted to fight back, only to die, without exception. Even the smallest Honkai beasts could eliminate a person with a single blast. Those who fell struggled to their feet, transforming into Honkai zombies, mindless, wandering corpses. If this continued, the campus would soon be lost.
“Wait, wait… Lu Ze, what’s happening? Why the rush? Why are we going to the rooftop? The weather looks like it’s going to rain heavily.”
Lu Ze didn't reply, quickly ascending the stairs. According to the story’s progression, stopping Raiden Mei would solve everything. However, even after this event, Changkong City would remain shrouded in high-concentration Honkai energy, becoming dilapidated and uninhabitable, leaving the city in a state of desolation.
“Don’t talk, hurry and follow me upstairs. If we delay any longer, Mei will be in danger.”
Hearing Mei’s name, Kiana’s blue eyes widened slightly. She immediately pulled her hand away from Lu Ze and sprinted ahead.
“No way, is that it? You’re more anxious than anyone at the mention of Mei! Wait for me!”
They soon reached the balcony. Before even entering, they could clearly hear the sounds of fighting, explosions, and the clashing of blades on the rooftop. Kiana quickly pushed open the doorframe and, upon first glance, saw Raiden Mei, complete with horns, her clothes changed, wielding a purple longsword. Her opponent was controlling a robot, bearing numerous scars, clearly in a tough battle.
Lu Ze followed closely onto the balcony. Seeing Bronya and Mei, he thought, “Great, the main trio is assembled. Are they about to be whisked away by the Hyperion?”
“Yo, it’s you, interesting human. I didn’t expect to meet you here. This truly surprises me. Let me guess… your purpose here is for this girl I control, isn’t it?”
Raiden Mei’s words were spot on. Lu Ze cautiously drew his short sword, the two blades flashing in the air as he assumed a defensive stance.
“Don’t be like that. As soon as we meet, you prepare to attack? I’ll be sad. To disrupt my plans time and again… I’m very grateful to you… human!”
With a flicker, Raiden Mei instantly appeared behind him and thrust forward, the Thunder God’s Key aiming to pierce his chest.
“Excuse me, did you have my permission to touch him? Your opponent is me! Getting distracted during a fight is a bad habit.”
Bronya manipulated the robot’s left arm to catch the blade, while the right arm gathered energy, preparing to fire.
“Heh… can you even hit me?”
Seeing the incoming projectile, Mei simply dodged with a slight sidestep, completely evading it.
“Are you alright? Ordinary people shouldn’t come near. Hurry and leave. You can’t deal with a Herrscher.”
Perhaps out of good humor, or a sense of familiarity, Bronya seemed concerned about this man and tried to persuade him to leave.
“I can’t leave. She’s my deskmate, my friend. How could I abandon my friend? It’s just a Herrscher, not an omnipotent god. There’s always a way!”
Seeing Lu Ze’s agitated state, the Herrscher of Thunder chuckled. With a flick of her wrist, she sent Bronya flying with a kick, then instantly teleported to stand behind Kiana, sending her flying backward.
“I’m getting more and more interested in you, human… such a tiny, insignificant body, yet you dare to challenge a Herrscher? Should I call it admirable courage, or talking without thinking?”
The Herrscher of Thunder pressed down, pinning Lu Ze against the wall. She leaned her small head closer, her purple eyes fixed on him.
“What? Could it be that you’ve fallen for me? Humans are indeed creatures of complex emotions. Do you want to taste it? Looking at your eyes, you’re quite amusing.”
For reasons unknown, perhaps influenced by the Raiden Mei within her, or perhaps by his handsome appearance, the Herrscher of Thunder now had the urge to “take a bite.”
Just as the two were about to touch, a long spear thrust forward. Kiana covered her left eye, her right hand trembling as she controlled the black spear.
“Take your dirty hands off! Let go of my Lu Ze. He belongs only to me, forever.”
Kiana’s eyes had turned golden yellow at some point. Her flowing hair billowed in the air, an arrogant queenly aura enveloping the entire balcony. Bronya was stunned by the powerful pressure. In her last moments before fainting, she saw two Herrschers fighting each other, though her vision was blurry, and she couldn’t make out their faces clearly.
“Yo, I didn’t expect you to be a Herrscher too… this aura, it feels so familiar… Herrscher of the Void, that’s your name, right? You don’t… perhaps you’ve also fallen for this human?”
The Herrscher of the Void made no verbal reply to the question. Instead, she snapped her right fingers. Instantly, numerous black holes appeared on the balcony, and one by one, Void Spears emerged.
Lu Ze watched the scene unfold, a faint sigh escaping his lips:
“I really didn’t expect things to develop like this, alas…”
After all, two Herrschers fighting over one man? The very notion seemed comical. How could such a thing possibly happen?
