Chapter 4 The Top Hacker Who Was Turned

After the members of the Wild Wolf mercenary group arrived in country Z in batches, Hu Ya began to choose their base in country Z. They soon targeted Yishi, which had many gangs. However, the strength of these gangs was naturally incomparable to that of mercenaries.

After several months, Hu Ya subjugated the gangs that surrendered, treating them as vassals, and eradicated those that did not, completely disregarding their dying struggles. Among them, Xing Yuan made great contributions with her hacking skills while searching for escaped remnants. Therefore, when she proposed wanting a secluded courtyard, Hu Ya readily agreed.

"Boss, why are we living so far away?" Xiao Mu asked, puzzled.

"Hu Ya is so ostentatious in his actions that he's easily targeted. Although this small courtyard of ours is a bit remote, it's advantageous in that it doesn't attract attention. I don't want any trouble!" Xing Yuan explained irritably.

"But..." Xiao Mu wanted to say more, but Feng Wen, standing beside him, pulled him back. Feng Wen said to Xing Yuan, "Boss, you must be tired! Get some rest early. We also need to pack our things, so we won't disturb you!" With that, he pulled Xiao Mu out.

"Why did you pull me? I haven't finished speaking yet!" Xiao Mu complained, having been led out.

"If I hadn't pulled you, you'd be asking for a beating! Don't you realize our boss has been in a bad mood lately and likes to pick fights with people?" Feng Wen looked at Xiao Mu, who had grown into a young man, and was utterly perplexed as to how he had survived this long with such poor judgment.

"Ah? Boss is in a bad mood? Isn't she always like this?" Xiao Mu realized and immediately apologized, "Uncle Wen, I'm sorry! I forgot for a moment!"

"Forget it! In short, we just need to obey the boss. Otherwise, it's so chaotic here, who knows if we'll even make it back in one piece." Feng Wen worried.

"That's true! Uncle Wen, this is also a good opportunity. Have you thought about..." Xiao Mu whispered, leaning closer to Feng Wen.

"If you want to go, then go! My wife and children are here. If I escape, they'll have to pay for me!" Feng Wen's eyes held a complex emotion.

"How can that be? I've been an orphan since I was a child. If you don't escape, I won't leave either. Where else can I go if I leave here? Besides, if I leave, you'll surely be punished." Xiao Mu's attitude was resolute.

"Alas! I'll go arrange things for those five people first. We'll be here for a while, so you can think it over carefully." Feng Wen finished speaking and turned to walk out of the courtyard.

"Master, should we help them? They look quite pitiful," Tian Ling said sympathetically.

"No help! Let's talk about when I can see Sister Ah. Did you get any news from the Heavenly Dao?" Xing Yuan had asked it to communicate with the Heavenly Dao a few days ago, wondering if there had been any progress.

"I got a little bit. The Heavenly Dao said the person is in country Z, but refused to reveal the specific location." Tian Ling immediately curled into a ball, preventing Xing Yuan from suddenly acting out.

"I know! Don't worry, I won't throw you away," Xing Yuan said calmly.

Tian Ling cautiously poked its head out and, seeing that Xing Yuan was indeed not angry, looked somewhat puzzled.

Meeting Tian Ling's confused gaze, Xing Yuan magnanimously explained, "The Heavenly Dao said they are in country Z, and the original host will definitely meet Sister Ah. Therefore, the most likely scenario is that Sister Ah is among these gangs."

Right! Tian Ling suddenly understood. No wonder the master wasn't angry; she was about to see Lord Yue Xian.

"How is Sister Ah doing? Will she like my current appearance?" The more she thought about it, the more a sense of crisis grew within Xing Yuan. She immediately bought dozens of outfits in different styles online. As for why she didn't buy them in person, it was naturally out of concern that Sister Ah wouldn't be able to find her when she arrived.

At the National Security Bureau of country Z, the leader addressed the young people standing in a neat line: "This mission is very arduous. You must find a way to infiltrate their organization, gather intelligence on their plans and personnel. The current chaos among the gangs in Yicheng is your best opportunity to blend in! Tell me, can you complete the mission?"

"We guarantee to complete the mission!" the group responded in unison.

"The information we currently have has been sent to you. Due to the urgency, review it on the road. You are all excellent soldiers. I hope that the number of people who leave today will be the same number who return. Protect yourselves well," the leader said gravely.

The group silently returned a military salute to the leader. They could not guarantee their safe return, but they would never betray the military uniform they wore.

The young people on the road were very quiet, with only the sound of documents being passed around. They currently only knew that the invaders of Yicheng were a top mercenary group from abroad, equipped with heavy weaponry. The rest would have to be discovered by themselves.

Upon arriving in Yicheng, these young people entered different locations and took on different jobs in batches and within various areas. The Wild Wolf mercenary group had almost monopolized the entire city's trade, and in a certain sense, had occupied Yicheng.

Wen Yue was assigned a menial task. Although the Wild Wolf mercenary group claimed to have absorbed various gangs, they did not trust outsiders. The gangs were primarily responsible for logistics and acting as cannon fodder. However, they had no choice; refusal meant facing death.

Wen Yue was fortunate to be assigned near the research personnel, so she often saw them experimenting with various reagents. Wen Yue lay low, waiting for her opportunity.

Xing Yuan's side was also assigned a military operative. For the military to have someone go undercover, that person naturally had to be skilled in something. This person happened to be a computer expert.

"Ah Yuan, look what I brought you?" Qiao Yi immediately came to find Xing Yuan to curry favor upon discovering him. This was Xing Yuan's request; she didn't want to reveal her identity in public, so she asked others to call her Yuan when outsiders were present. This was because the original host's name was simply "Yuan."

Xing Yuan glanced at him and lost interest when she realized it wasn't Sister Ah.

Seeing Xing Yuan's lack of interest, Qiao introduced, "His name is Wei Shan. I heard he's a computer expert. See how his skills are. If they're acceptable, we'll bring him along."

"No need! I'm enough here," Xing Yuan refused coldly.

"This... Oh dear, even if his strength isn't that great, he can still save you some trouble, or at least be used as a laborer!" Qiao's enthusiastic words made Xing Yuan feel quite uncomfortable.

So she looked down at Wei Shan and said, "What do you think?"

Wei Shan thought for a moment and said, "I'm willing to follow you!" After all, this person was clearly a hacker within this organization, a high-ranking member, and might even be able to access computers to send messages to headquarters. If he missed this opportunity, who knew if another would come.

"Alright! Then I'll keep him for now. You can leave!" Xing Yuan urged.

"Okay! Then I'll head back to work. There's a lot going on lately. Since you have this guy to look after you now, why don't you lend me your two assistants for a few days? I'm starting to lose my hair."
