Chapter 3 The Top Hacker Turned Informant

Star Yuan was not interested in Qiao's introduction, but she decided to go with the flow, especially since it was difficult for her to overcome her physical instincts at the moment. So, she quietly followed along for a "tour" of the mercenary group's interior.

Upon seeing her own office area, Star Yuan's expression relaxed slightly. It was finally ending.

Qiao pushed open the door and introduced Star Yuan to the people inside. Looking up, she saw people of all ages. These were the people who had been her original body's subordinates, charging ahead in the online world. Star Yuan had expected to face some questioning, but to her surprise, the people inside merely glanced at her before returning to their work.

Qiao gave an awkward smile and explained, "As you know, they can't be distracted when they're working. There's still a long way to go, so you can get to know each other later! Now, I'll take you to your room."

Qiao continued to lead Star Yuan to a secluded small courtyard and explained, "We chose this place specifically. Hackers and researchers are very similar; your work schedules are quite irregular. And with so many people in our Wild Wolf Mercenary Group, there are bound to be some who don't follow orders. It's safer here."

Star Yuan nodded slightly. "I understand!"

"It's good that you understand! This is your identification card. Don't lose it, or if someone else sees it, you might be mistaken for a spy." Qiao handed over something similar to a student ID, but it had her codename and a string of numbers on it.

Seeing Star Yuan put the item away, Qiao bid her farewell. "Everything is ready. You should get some rest today. Tomorrow, you just need to gather at that location."

Star Yuan walked directly to her room. If it weren't for the desire to see her elder sister, she wouldn't be doing free labor for anyone! It was a pity she didn't know what her elder sister looked like in this world, otherwise, she could have used her hacking skills to search for her.

The next day, when Star Yuan saw those people again, they were still struggling to break through the firewall. Star Yuan curiously walked over to watch. A string of code floated before her eyes. Star Yuan couldn't help herself. She grabbed the young man in front of her, broke through the firewall in a few moves, and felt a sense of relief. She never knew she had a habit of not being able to stand seeing others fail to break through a firewall.

The young man stared at Star Yuan, dumbfounded. Seeing Star Yuan stand up, he immediately grabbed her sleeve. "Senior, please teach me the method you just used!"

"I just deployed two Trojans! It's not that technical," Star Yuan said, quickly distancing herself from the young man.

"Senior! My name is Xiao Mu. If you ever need anything, feel free to ask me for help, as long as you can teach me hacking skills." The young man vowed.

Star Yuan glanced at him, deeply disliking his previous rudeness. She said coldly, "No need! I can do it myself!"

Before Xiao Mu could pounce again, Star Yuan introduced herself, "I am Y, and I am also your future leader! Now, if you have any questions, ask them. Otherwise, I won't listen in the future."

Although Star Yuan was not tall, her words carried great authority, as she unconsciously slipped into her former identity.

After a moment of silence from everyone, Xiao Mu was the first to show support. Then, a middle-aged man stood up and said, "I want to have a spar with you. If you win, I'll listen to you from now on. If you lose, you can go back to where you came from?"

"Agreed!" Star Yuan couldn't have asked for more. During the spar, she deliberately held back, not wanting him to lose too badly. After all, they would be working together for several years, and being constantly scrutinized wouldn't be ideal. Soon, the second and third people challenged her. After half of them failed, the remaining people lost their resolve and expressed their acceptance.

"Good, since we have reached a consensus, it's settled. We will cooperate wholeheartedly from now on! Now, everyone go complete your tasks!" Star Yuan said with a cheerful laugh. Indeed, this was the best way to relieve her boredom.

The other people could only bow their heads and agree to the "forced consensus."

Although the Wild Wolf Mercenary Group lacked top hackers, their computer equipment and configurations were all state-of-the-art. Star Yuan's so-called room here was merely divided by a few partitions. The Wild Wolf Mercenary Group felt that being together fostered a better atmosphere.

In the following days, Star Yuan followed the world's plot, only providing hacker assistance at appropriate times and mostly slacking off. She also used her spare time to establish a company that sold weapons. While it was called a company, it consisted of only the people in this room and a few individuals who had defected from the Wild Wolf Mercenary Group. Over these five years, Star Yuan turned these people into her confidantes. As for those who were disobedient, they had already become corpses.

Star Yuan never considered herself a good person, but her elder sister had wished for her to be one back then, so she didn't mind being a good child only for her elder sister. With this thought, Star Yuan's gaze deepened. After so long, her elder sister should appear by now. She was running out of patience. The feeling of knowing her elder sister was nearby but being unable to see her was even more suffocating.

Tian Ling, watching Star Yuan's volatile mood in the outside world, trembled in the space. If Yue Xian Jun didn't appear soon, she would be killed by her master! Whenever her master was in a bad mood, she would throw Tian Ling around in the space to vent her anger. What creature could endure such abuse?

Soon, a turning point arrived. The nearly fifty-year-old but still robust Wild Wolf decided to expand into Country Z. However, knowing the importance of not putting all eggs in one basket, he decided to send some people to test the waters first. Star Yuan was chosen due to her exceptional hacking skills. Five years had passed, and the once malnourished girl had grown into a graceful young woman.

At this moment, she listened to Wild Wolf's pre-departure instructions with a cold gaze. The leader for this mission was codenamed Tiger Fang, and Qiao would accompany them as a strategist. Many other talented individuals were also involved, including several researchers.

Wild Wolf, perhaps due to his age, had adopted the habit of elderly people nagging. As he reached Star Yuan, Wild Wolf didn't immediately recognize her as Y. After realizing who she was, he said earnestly, "Y, you have made many contributions to our Wild Wolf Mercenary Group over the years. This time, you will bring two assistants. For your safety, I will allow you to choose five people from our mercenary group as your escorts. Others will also be present. You are all our heroes!"

Star Yuan merely nodded gently. When Wild Wolf instructed them to choose their companions and depart immediately, Star Yuan also went to the training grounds. She had to admit that the people in the Wild Wolf Mercenary Group were quite strong, having grown through the baptism of blood. Star Yuan carefully selected a few individuals with lighter sins and docile temperaments and brought them back. After all, she could protect herself, and these people were merely to appease Wild Wolf and handle some minor troubles.

After Star Yuan brought Xiao Mu and Feng Wen along, they returned to the assembly point. Once the headcount was complete, they disguised themselves as ordinary tourists and boarded a plane to Country Z.
