As soon as the workday ended, Shen Xi did not get up to leave as usual. Instead, she picked up a traditional Chinese medicine book and began to read, waiting for Qin Si Yue to go together.
Not long after, a knock sounded at the door. Shen Xi said, "Please come in."
Looking up, Wei Tao pushed the door open with a smile. Shen Xi was startled, "Dr. Wei, why is it you?"
"Dr. Shen, I'm here to give you your test results." Wei Tao handed her the report he was holding.
Shen Xi then remembered that she had asked Wei Tao to help her test a pill that Xu Zhi Lan had taken a few days ago.
"Oh? The results are out. Thank you!" Shen Xi took it with a smile and quickly invited Wei Tao to sit down.
She looked down for a few seconds and then casually placed the lab report into her bag behind her.
"Actually, the results have been out for a while. I took a few days off due to some family matters and didn't get a chance to deliver it to you," Wei Tao said with a hint of apology on his face.
"It's fine, I wasn't in a hurry," Shen Xi smiled at him, "You've helped me twice, and I don't know how to thank you."
Upon hearing this, Wei Tao touched his hair and chuckled, "No need for thanks. As long as Dr. Shen can put in a good word for me with Qin Si Yue, that would be enough."
Shen Xi's heart skipped a beat, and she immediately understood the meaning behind his words.
So, he thought she had feelings for Qin Si Yue.
She couldn't help but examine him closely. This young man was sincere, kind, handsome, fair-skinned, with delicate features, and very capable in his work.
Setting aside their family backgrounds, he was quite a good match for Qin Si Yue.
"I understand what you mean, Dr. Wei. But feelings are a matter between two people. I can only hint at it. As for the outcome, you'll have to rely on your own efforts."
"Thank you, Dr. Shen!" Wei Tao grinned excitedly, revealing a row of bright white teeth.
At that moment, Qin Si Yue happened to push the door open. Seeing Wei Tao sitting inside, she frowned, "Huh? Wei Tao, why are you here?"
"Oh, I was looking for him for something," Shen Xi said quickly, seeing Wei Tao's face flush.
Qin Si Yue didn't think much of it. She patted his shoulder and turned to face him, "You saved Sister Xi in the cafeteria that day, and I said I wanted to treat you to a meal. Why not now? Do you have time tonight? How about we go now?"
"Sure, I have time," Wei Tao stood up from his chair excitedly. "But what happened that day was just a small favor. I should be the one treating you."
Shen Xi felt a bit troubled when she heard their conversation.
Logically, Wei Tao had helped her twice, so she had to go to this meal, and it should have been her treating him.
But doing so would delay their visit to the Qin family, and if she ran into Qin Si Ye, it would be awkward.
Even though he didn't return to the Qin family last night, today was the weekend, and one could never be sure.
"Si Yue, can we do it another day?" Shen Xi stood up and looked at Qin Si Yue.
It wouldn't be too late to treat him after Xu Zhi Lan finished her current course of acupuncture next week.
"Sister Xi, it's fine if we're a little late. I'll make a call back home and tell them not to wait for us for dinner," Qin Si Yue said, gently taking Shen Xi's arm and walking towards the door.
What? Waiting for them to eat? This girl wouldn't have her family prepare her meal again, would she?
Compared to going to the Qin family's house, she would rather eat out.
Because they had plans, the three of them finished their meal quickly, ending by seven o'clock.
Shen Xi and Qin Si Yue each walked towards their cars. From a distance, Shen Xi noticed that her tire had gone flat. She must have run over a nail on the road.
She had no choice but to leave the car there and have Jian Fan come to help her change it tomorrow. She got into Qin Si Yue's car and headed towards the Qin family's residence.
"Si Yue, what do you think of Wei Tao?" Shen Xi glanced at Qin Si Yue.
"Sister Xi, why are you suddenly asking this? You're not trying to set us up, are you?" Qin Si Yue looked surprised and glanced at her.
