Missing your smile

Chapter 229 The Lone Island

The night was cold and the wind bit fiercely.

Qin Hui could feel Su Shijun’s limbs growing cold. If they didn’t find the island soon, the two of them would become fish food.

Even Qin Hui was starting to gasp for breath. The continuous swimming for days had depleted his stamina. Even a martial artist couldn’t withstand such extreme physical exertion.

Most importantly, if they didn't find the island, Su Shijun would perish before Qin Hui. Once a person had been submerged in water for too long, it was nearly impossible to save them.

Su Shijun no longer had the strength to speak, only a faint breath remained. Qin Hui's time was running out.

If that Young Master Qian had drowned in the sea, so be it. But if he hadn't, Qin Hui would definitely break his legs upon seeing him!

If it weren't for him, they wouldn't have ended up in this predicament.

The next morning, the sun slowly rose above the horizon as usual, illuminating the entire ocean.

Gradually, a tiny speck appeared in Qin Hui's vision.

Looking at that tiny speck, Qin Hui's expression began to turn excited.

Because that was the direction of the island!

"Sister Shijun, we, we've arrived."

Qin Hui said with a tremor of excitement.

However, the only reply was the void. Qin Hui immediately turned his head to look. Su Shijun's face was extremely pale. Due to being in the sea, she had swallowed a considerable amount of seawater. If her heartbeat hadn't persisted, she would have been indistinguishable from the dead.

"Sister Shijun, don't worry, I will definitely keep you alive."

Qin Hui swam frantically towards the island. If any more time were wasted, that faint heartbeat might cease!

Qin Hui had been swimming day and night for days, his stamina already overdrawn. But to survive, Qin Hui mobilized every cell in his body, desperately squeezing out the last of his physical strength, all to reach the island.

Qin Hui hadn't pushed himself this hard in a long time. This time, Qin Hui not only carried his own life but also the life of another. If Su Shijun died in the sea, Qin Hui would be filled with endless regret.

In desperation, people cling to hope for salvation. But the moment hope is shattered is when madness begins.

Three hours later, Qin Hui's breathing became rapid. Qin Hui was only human, and even the strongest would reach their limits.

At this moment, the seawater poured into his mouth as if it were free. Qin Hui had never ingested so much water in his life!

*Splash!*

After an unknown amount of time, Qin Hui finally reached the edge of the island. Then, a massive wave slammed him onto the beach.

"Hoo."

"Hoo~"

Qin Hui took several deep breaths, spitting out all the seawater from his mouth and stomach, even expelling a few fresh small fish along with it.

After regaining a little strength, Qin Hui quickly turned Su Shijun over, laying her flat on the sand. He then placed his hands on her abdomen and began to squeeze the water out.

*Gurgle, gurgle.*

After Qin Hui's squeezing, Su Shijun also spat out several mouthfuls of seawater, but her face remained extremely pale.

Seeing that Su Shijun was still not awake, Qin Hui had no choice but to perform artificial respiration.

Although this act was somewhat intimate, Qin Hui had to do it for the sake of her life. Moreover, Qin Hui was the only living soul present. If Qin Hui didn't act, Su Shijun would have no chance of survival.

"Hoo~"

Qin Hui took a deep breath, then gently opened Su Shijun's lips. Finally, Qin Hui transferred all the air from his lungs into Su Shijun.

After inhaling a large amount of air, Su Shijun's eyebrows twitched slightly, indicating a glimmer of hope.

Seeing this, Qin Hui immediately continued.

Thus, Qin Hui kept inhaling and sending air into Su Shijun's mouth.

A few minutes later, Su Shijun coughed out some seawater and then began to breathe in the fresh air vigorously.

Her beautiful eyes then fluttered open.

Seeing that Su Shijun had woken up, Qin Hui felt it was inappropriate to continue artificial respiration, as it would be taking advantage of her.

"Sister Shijun, I was just giving you artificial respiration, so you can't hit me."

Qin Hui quickly explained. If he didn't explain, Qin Hui would likely get slapped and called a scoundrel.

"Heh heh."

"Sister has some sense of right and wrong."

Su Shijun lay weakly on the beach. Although she had survived, her body was extremely weak.

Qin Hui was surprised by Su Shijun's understanding and felt a great sense of relief.

"Sister Shijun, you rest for a while. I'll go get some food for you."

After speaking, Qin Hui began to process the few small fish he had just regurgitated. Such fresh seafood couldn't be wasted.

Besides, Qin Hui hadn't fully recovered yet, so he could only eat small fish.

The only thing Qin Hui was grateful for was that he had watched many of Bear Grylls' shows. He might not have learned everything, but he was confident in about ten percent of it.

After simply building a small stove with stones, Qin Hui began to make fire by friction.

As the wooden stick rubbed intensely, a small flame was generated, gradually igniting.

In addition, Qin Hui also fashioned a simple device for filtering seawater, which could at least purify some freshwater for them to drink.

Watching Qin Hui's busy figure, Sister Shijun on the side felt immense satisfaction and happiness. This feeling of being cared for hadn't appeared in a long time. If she had met Qin Hui earlier, perhaps her fate wouldn't have been so tragic.

Half an hour later, Su Shijun's stamina had also recovered somewhat.

"Sister Shijun, the fish soup is ready. Have some."

Qin Hui used nearby large leaves to wrap the soup, forming small bowls.

"You, you have some too."

Su Shijun said, touched.

"Don't worry, you drink first. I'll eat a little. Once we recover our strength, we'll go catch crabs on the beach."

Qin Hui said earnestly.

Seeing that Qin Hui had said so, Su Shijun no longer hesitated. She picked up the small bowl and began to drink.

Soon, Su Shijun finished the fish soup in the bowl, even swallowing the small fish whole without chewing.

Seeing Su Shijun looking like she wanted more, Qin Hui couldn't help but smile. Such a woman was truly genuine.

Soon, Qin Hui prepared another bowl of fish soup for Su Shijun.

After lunch was settled, Qin Hui lay flat on the sand to rest. For several consecutive days, Qin Hui had been in a state of extreme tension, so he fell asleep shortly after.

Only by sleeping and fully replenishing his energy could Qin Hui survive on this deserted island.

At this moment, Su Shijun's complexion had improved considerably. If it weren't for Qin Hui, she would have likely become fish food in the sea long ago.

"Qin Hui, Qin Hui~"

Su Shijun softly called out beside Qin Hui.

Seeing that Qin Hui showed no reaction, Su Shijun finally let out a sigh of relief.

Then, Su Shijun's small hand slowly reached for her clothes buttons, while her other hand stretched towards the edge of her trousers...
