Chapter 169 Unspoken Love

“Sister, looking again…”

Qi Miaomiao suddenly appeared, startling Gu Luotang. She quickly swiped her phone to switch from WeChat to the home screen, pretending she wasn't looking at anything. But Qi Miaomiao saw it anyway and giggled, "Don't hide it, Sister. I know you're waiting for Doctor Wan's WeChat!"

“Miaomiao, what nonsense are you talking about? I’m not…”

Gu Luotang’s pretty face flushed. Being seen through by her junior sister, she felt extremely embarrassed.

“Oh really!”

Immediately, Qi Miaomiao picked up the prescription from the desk. Gu Luotang jumped up in shock, "Miaomiao, give it back quickly…"

“Sister, you still say you’re not thinking about Doctor Wan.”

Qi Miaomiao jumped away with the prescription, teasing playfully, “You’ve been out of sorts these past two days. Anyone can see it.”

“Alright, hurry and give it back, don’t tear it…”

Gu Luotang watched her anxiously, afraid Qi Miaomiao would damage the prescription.

“Sister, if you miss him so much, why don’t you go look for him yourself? You’re acting like it’s unrequited love. Is that worth it?” Qi Miaomiao returned the prescription to her, knowing her sister liked Wan Yunting.

“What nonsense are you spouting? I just admire his calligraphy and medical skills, I don’t like him… person…” Gu Luotang carefully folded the prescription and placed it in a medical book. Her heart was pounding as she said this.

“Heh heh…”

Qi Miaomiao pointed at her blushing face and teased, “Sister, you’re really bad at lying.”

“That’s enough, stop teasing me.”

Gu Luotang shot her an embarrassed glare. Qi Miaomiao walked over and snatched her phone, “Looks like I have to step in, Sister…”

“What are you doing? Don’t mess around…”

“Of course, I’m texting Doctor Wan. Hmm, I’ll ask him if he has time this afternoon to come to school.”

Qi Miaomiao took her phone, found Wan Yunting’s WeChat chat, and scared Gu Luotang into snatching the phone back, “This is ridiculous, I don’t want him to misunderstand, that I have any feelings for him.”

This left Qi Miaomiao completely speechless. “Sister, the way you are is called a crush. It will never happen.”

“What crush? Don’t say it so unpleasantly, okay?”

Gu Luotang glared at her. Actually, she really just liked Wan Yunting’s calligraphy…

Just then, her phone showed an incoming call from her cousin, Lei Yumeng. Gu Luotang answered, “Yumeng, do you need something?”

“Sister Luotang, my mom is sick again!”

“Ah, Auntie is sick? Okay, don’t worry, I’m coming over now.”

Hearing that her aunt was sick again, Gu Luotang quickly asked Qi Miaomiao to get the medical kit. But Qi Miaomiao said, “Sister, why can’t your aunt’s illness be cured?”

“Sigh, actually, Auntie’s illness isn’t difficult to treat. It’s just that she has something on her mind and has been in a state of suppressed emotions for a long time. That’s why this illness keeps recurring and can’t be cured!” Thinking of her aunt’s illness, Gu Luotang was very helpless.

“But why is she feeling suppressed?”

Qi Miaomiao was very confused and said, “Your aunt is a wealthy wife. She doesn’t have to work, and your cousin is already in college, so she doesn’t need to worry about anything. Why isn’t she happy?”

Gu Luotang’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, and she sighed, “She doesn’t want to talk about it, so I can’t do anything about it. I can only go and help her recuperate and take medicine every time she gets sick.”

Qi Miaomiao listened and nodded. Last month, they had also helped Gu Luotang’s aunt recuperate, but today she was sick again.

“Sister, I have an idea!”

Suddenly, Qi Miaomiao’s big eyes rolled, and she smiled, “Doctor Wan has such great medical skills. Why don’t we invite him to come with us to see your aunt, and you can get closer to him? Isn’t that killing two birds with one stone?”

Gu Luotang’s pretty face flushed at her suggestion. She gave Qi Miaomiao a coquettish glance, but she was indeed tempted.

“I’ll call him.”

Without a word, Qi Miaomiao took out her own phone and directly called Wan Yunting, as she also had his WeChat and phone number.

However, at this moment, Wan Yunting was standing in front of a tall building. He looked up at the recruitment sign that read "Jun Chi Group," which was Lei Jun’s company.

So he strode in, looking around the lobby. He saw white-collar workers in professional attire coming and going. Wan Yunting approached the front desk and said to the female employee, “Is your President Lei in?”

“Our President Lei is in. Sir, do you have an appointment?”

The front desk female employee looked at Wan Yunting, finding him a bit familiar.

“No, but please help me announce that my surname is Wan, and my given name is Yunting!” Wan Yunting said politely.

The female employee was stunned. No wonder he looked familiar; he was indeed Wan Yunting, who had been in the news recently.

“Please wait.”

So she picked up the phone and called the chairman’s office directly. A slightly impatient voice answered, “What is it?”

“President Lei, a Mr. Wan is looking for you, but he doesn’t have an appointment. Do you want to see him?” the female employee said, glancing at Wan Yunting.

“Surname Wan? Is his name Wan Yunting?” a surprised voice came from the phone.

“Yes, President Lei.”

“Alright, bring him up to see me.”

After hanging up, the female employee personally led Wan Yunting to the elevator and took him up to the chairman’s office. As the elevator stopped at the 30th floor, the door opened. The female employee led Wan Yunting out and turned to an office, knocking twice.

A hurried sound of high heels came from inside. The door was immediately opened, and a charming woman dressed in a professional OL outfit, clearly a secretary, appeared. She sized up Wan Yunting and smiled, “You must be Mr. Wan. President Lei is waiting for you.”

Wan Yunting nodded and thanked the front desk female employee before walking into the office. A peculiar scent immediately entered his nostrils. Wan Yunting turned to look at the secretary following him, whose blouse collar buttons weren’t even fastened…

Immediately, a middle-aged man with a similarly unbuttoned shirt walked out. He looked at Wan Yunting standing in the reception area and smiled, “It’s really you, kid!”

Looking at Lei Jun before him, Wan Yunting glanced sideways at the female secretary beside him, as if seeing through what they had just been doing. This made the female secretary a little embarrassed as she fastened her collar button, “President Lei, I’ll take my leave.”

“Go ahead.”

Lei Jun waved his hand, smiled awkwardly at Wan Yunting, and gestured to the sofa, “Sit down.”

Wan Yunting nodded with a smile and sat down with Lei Jun. He opened a drawer in the coffee table and took out a box of cigars. He opened it, picked one up, and asked, “Would you like one?”

“No, I still prefer the small ones.”

Wan Yunting took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, gestured with a smile, and took out a cigarette to place in his mouth. He took out a lighter, lit it, and took a puff, slowly exhaling the smoke before looking up at Lei Jun.

Lei Jun was unhurriedly trimming the end of the cigar with a cutter, then lit it with a lighter. He looked up at Wan Yunting and smiled, “I heard you got out of prison and went to work as a doctor in a hospital. Why didn’t you pick up your father’s business empire?”

Wan Yunting exhaled a puff of smoke and smiled, “After spending seven years in prison, I’ve fallen behind the times.”

Lei Jun took a deep puff of his lit cigar, crossed his legs, and slowly exhaled the smoke. He pointed at Wan Yunting with his cigar-holding hand and chuckled, “Young people shouldn’t be so dejected.”

“Although you served seven years of wrongful imprisonment, the times are still the same, just with more variations. But the human heart has never changed!”

Wan Yunting narrowed his eyes and looked at Lei Jun, nodding with a smile, “President Lei is right.”

“It’s just a pity your father died so early, leaving me without an opponent. Thinking back, I do miss competing with him.”

Lei Jun smoked his cigar, looking nostalgic and sighing.

Wan Yunting exhaled smoke, a smile on his lips, “I still remember when the bidding for Ding Sheng Real Estate was underway, and you lost to my father, even sending people to cause trouble at my house!”

Lei Jun paused, waved his hand, and chuckled, “Can’t help it, your father tricked me back then. I just lost my temper.”

“So, it wasn’t you, harboring a grudge, who caused my parents’ deaths!” Wan Yunting suddenly looked up, his eyes fixed on Lei Jun, and said with a seemingly casual smile.

Lei Jun’s expression froze. He almost choked on the cigar in his mouth. He glared at Wan Yunting and grunted, “I knew you suddenly came to see me today. So you suspect me of causing your parents’ deaths?”

Wan Yunting chuckled, “Didn’t you say society can change, but human hearts are hard to change!”
