The doctor at the hotel's infirmary examined Lan Yu and said she was physically fine, attributing her dizziness and stomach discomfort to lack of rest.
As they left the infirmary, on the way back to her room, Susu suddenly thought of something and asked, "Lan Yu, have your periods been normal recently? Could you be pregnant?"
Lan Yu stopped in her tracks, startled. She recalled that her period hadn't come last month, and she had assumed it was just delayed, not paying it much mind. Now, calculating the days, it had been over a month. Could she really be pregnant? Yet, she felt it was impossible.
"No way, I've seen a doctor before. They said I have a constitution that makes it difficult to conceive."
"But there are no guarantees with these things. Instead of us guessing, why don't we just use a pregnancy test? Then we'll know," Susu suggested.
Lan Yu hummed in agreement. "You're right. But I'd like to rest in my room first."
Susu escorted her to the door of her room and said, "You rest first. I'll ask the hotel staff to buy one for you and have it delivered."
Lan Yu nodded and went back to her room to rest.
Susu immediately contacted the staff, thinking that if Lan Yu was indeed pregnant, it would be good news. An Jing had always wanted a second child.
She returned to her room. Tian Yi saw her light steps and happy expression and asked, "How was the infirmary? What did the doctor say? Is Lan Yu okay?"
Susu gave him a mysterious smile and said, "She was checked. Lan Yu is fine and went back to her room to rest."
"That's good," Tian Yi said, looking at her. "Why do I feel like you're happier than Lan Yu herself that she's okay?"
Susu suggested, "It's still early. How about we take the children to the amusement park on the island? I just saw a promotion for a newly built children's playground in the hotel. We can take Ning Yu along, and Lan Yu can have some proper rest."
Tian Yi lifted her chin with his finger and said, "I was hoping for some time alone with you."
Susu pushed his hand away. "Are you ever going to stop? Can't you be serious for once?"
"Then I'll be very serious and tell you, I miss you again." As he spoke, he couldn't help but let out a mischievous laugh and picked her up.
Susu exclaimed charmingly, "Put me down! Aren't you tired? Can't you just settle down for a bit?"
"Tired? Are you questioning my stamina? I have to prove it to you." Tian Yi said, intending to toss her onto the bed. She cried out in surprise and clung to his neck tightly.
Susu pulled him down onto the bed with her. Tian Yi embraced her and kissed her lips.
She leaned against him, able to hear his healthy and strong heartbeat, and said softly, "Mr. Qin, can we stop fooling around? If you keep this up, it'll be dark before we know it. How will we go to the amusement park then? Don't forget, we came here to spend more time with the children."
Tian Yi held her even tighter, wishing he could meld her into his body.
Susu felt like she could barely breathe from his embrace, but she could feel his genuine love.
After a while, Tian Yi suddenly let go and sat up. "Let's go. Let's find those little ones and head to the amusement park."
Susu tugged him to sit up with her, reached out to straighten his collar, and said with a bright smile, "Mr. Qin, you look so handsome."
Tian Yi pinched her cheek and chuckled dotingly, "You have such a way with words, you can charm anyone to death."
Susu pushed him gently. "I'll contact Xiao Mei. You quickly grab our things."
Tian Yi stood up and sighed, "Looks like we'll be running around after the kids again. What are you going to bring them?"
"Do I need to say? What kind of father are you?" Susu looked at him with mock disdain and picked up the room phone, leaving him to figure it out.
Tian Yi, embracing his role as a doting father, stuffed snacks, drinks, and other items into a bag.
Not long after Susu hung up the phone, there was a flurry of knocking at the outer door.
As Tian Yi opened the door, the three children rushed in, jumping around their room. Tiantian, in particular, hopped onto the bed and exclaimed, "Great! We can go to the amusement park!"
Susu kept glancing at the door, waiting for Xiao Mei to bring Ning Yu so they could set off.
Lan Yu returned to her room and found Ning Yu sitting obediently on the carpet playing with toys.
As soon as the child saw her return, she anxiously asked, "Mommy, are you okay?"
Lan Yu was already feeling much better. She smiled and said, "I'm fine, just seasick. Why didn't you go play with Tiantian?"
"Mommy, I was worried about you, so I waited for you in the room," Ning Yu pouted. "Since Daddy isn't here, I should be the one taking care of you."
Lan Yu couldn't help but smile with relief. She hadn't expected her child to be so sensible.
Normally, at home, she was the one always attending to the children, and she always thought Ning Yu was too young to understand anything.
But on this trip, she realized Ning Yu was truly a filial child. She wasn't clueless at all; in fact, the child seemed to understand more than she let on and knew everything in her heart.
Lan Yu hugged her tightly and praised her, "Ning Yu, you're so wonderful. But Mommy is fine, I'm healthy, and I don't need you to take care of me. You just need to be happy every day."
Ning Yu also wrapped her little arms around her neck and asked, "When is Daddy coming back? Won't he abandon us?"
"How could he? Daddy loves us the most," Lan Yu said with a smile. "Daddy has some things to attend to. He'll be back after Mommy and Auntie Susu finish their trip."
"Yay! Daddy's coming back soon!" Ning Yu finally smiled happily, her worried expression gone.
Lan Yu released her and stroked her head. Although the child was young, she was quite sensitive. If something were truly wrong between her and An Jing, it would be most damaging to the child.
"Alright, you go play with your toys now. Mommy is going to change her clothes." Lan Yu put her down, letting her play by herself.
She went into the bathroom to change. Recalling Susu's words, she felt a sense of unease.
Actually, after they had Ning Yu, both she and An Jing had wanted another child, but she had never conceived.
They had seen doctors together, but ever since An Jing learned the problem lay with her, he had stopped mentioning a second child.
However, she knew An Jing loved children. She herself had secretly visited doctors several times and even taken traditional Chinese medicine, but it had yielded no results.
If she happened to get pregnant now, and if An Jing brought Xiao Xiao back, wouldn't this child be inconveniently timed?
A while later, Xiao Mei came to pick up Ning Yu, saying Susu was taking the children to the amusement park and that Lan Yu should rest peacefully.
She was alone in the room now. She glanced at the pregnancy test kits the hotel staff had delivered, wanting to test but hesitating.
She stared at the test kits for a moment, then, with a determined sigh, clutched them in her hand and went into the bathroom.
Lan Yu, unwilling to give up, used three pregnancy test kits consecutively. All three showed two lines, indicating she was indeed pregnant.
She instinctively felt happy and wanted to tell An Jing immediately. But as she reached for her phone to dial, she put it down, thinking it would be better to tell him the good news in person when he returned.
After the initial happiness, Lan Yu couldn't help but feel a touch of worry. Xiao Xiao was coming back, and An Jing's attention and energy would be focused on Xiao Xiao.
That child was too good at capturing An Jing's attention, and she and her child would likely be neglected again.
