Chapter 886 You Spoiled Me

As Sùsù wondered who it could be, she heard a server's voice outside the door, "Excuse me, room service."

"Is it breakfast?" Sùsù said, about to get up and open the door.

Tiānyì stopped her, saying, "I'll get it. It's not just breakfast."

With that, he put on his robe and walked from the bedroom to the living room to open the door.

The server pushed the breakfast in and handed him two large bags before retreating.

Tiānyì carried the two large bags into the inner room and told Sùsù to look for herself, "Two brand new outfits, one for you and one for me. Now you don't have to worry, right?"

Sùsù rummaged through the large bags and exclaimed in surprise, "You even thought of this. You're so thoughtful."

Tiānyì affectionately ruffled her hair and said, "Then why aren't you washing up and changing quickly? Let's eat breakfast together."

"You've spoiled me. With you, I don't have to worry about anything," Sùsù said with emotion, hugging the new clothes.

"Shouldn't a man be like this?" Tiānyì retorted.

Sùsù smiled happily and said, "Yes, you should. Then I'll go change first." With that, she walked into the bathroom.

Tiānyì pursed his lips and smiled, holding his set of clothes up to the mirror in the room, feeling they were passable.

This wasn't his usual brand, but there was only one clothing store in the hotel lobby, so he had no other choice.

Just as he was about to go to the bathroom to tease Sùsù, his phone rang.

He picked up the phone and saw it was Ān Jǐng calling. He answered immediately, "Ān Jǐng, how are things on your end? We won the bid yesterday and secured the urban construction project!"

"That's great! Our efforts weren't in vain." Ān Jǐng's voice was laced with happiness upon hearing the news, but it lacked the overwhelming joy.

Tiānyì sensed his low mood and asked, "What's wrong? Are you upset because you haven't found Xiào Xiào yet?"

Ān Jǐng didn't know how to start explaining. "That's part of it, but it's not just about Xiào Xiào. Lán Yǔ, she's also been a bit unwell lately..."

He trailed off.

"Unwell? What do you mean?" Tiānyì asked.

Ān Jǐng said, "The doctors here say she might have postpartum depression."

"Ah, how could this happen?"

Ān Jǐng said guiltily, "It must be because my mom and I have been so focused on finding Xiào Xiào that we've neglected her and the newborn."

"Depression can be serious or minor. I've heard that many women who have just given birth are prone to this illness," Tiānyì comforted him. "But it's not a major illness; it can be cured. And since you're abroad, the treatment conditions there are even better. Just focus on accompanying Lán Yǔ for her treatment. I'll handle things at the group, don't worry."

Ān Jǐng said, "With you here, I'm not worried about the group's affairs. It's just that I don't want to give up on finding Xiào Xiào, yet I also want to take good care of Lán Yǔ and the baby. I feel like I'm trying to manage two things but failing at both. I was wondering if Sùsù could come and stay with Lán Yǔ for a while? Of course, that would require your approval."

"You want Sùsù to go and stay with Lán Yǔ?" Tiānyì couldn't agree immediately.

Ān Jǐng explained, "Sùsù has given birth, and she understands better than I do how to regulate one's mood after childbirth. She doesn't need to stay for too long, just a few days. If she could talk with Lán Yǔ and help her through it, perhaps her symptoms might improve."

Tiānyì wanted more details and asked, "What are Lán Yǔ's current symptoms?"

"Actually, she doesn't even realize she has depression. Sometimes when my mom and I want to have someone stay at home to accompany her, she always tells us not to worry about her and the baby, urging us to just go find Xiào Xiào, saying she can take care of the baby herself. She's been enduring it until one time, she suddenly left the baby alone at home and wandered around aimlessly outside without looking at traffic. Fortunately, my mom's friend encountered her and called her back."

"When we asked her what was wrong after she returned home, she said she didn't know what was happening, but she suddenly felt a strong urge to go outside and didn't remember where she had walked."

"It was because of this that my mom and I realized she had depression."

After listening, Tiānyì said, "I understand. I'll ask Sùsù later to see if her studio is busy. If she's free, I'll contact you again."

"Tiānyì, thank you. Thank you both," Ān Jǐng said dejectedly. "I've had such a rough time lately."

"Don't say that. We don't need to be so formal with each other." Tiānyì felt he had to say something. "I think you should prioritize your wife and daughter. The search for Xiào Xiào can be put on hold for now. If you really can't find her, you shouldn't be too persistent. You should cherish the people you have now."

Ān Jǐng understood his meaning and said, "Okay, I'll give myself another month. If I still can't find her, I can only post a long-term missing person notice here and leave it to fate."

Tiānyì didn't feel it was appropriate to say more. After hanging up, he wondered if he should let Sùsù go.

Yesterday, Sùsù had mentioned wanting to help search for Xiào Xiào. If he told her that Lán Yǔ had depression, she would undoubtedly want to go and accompany Lán Yǔ immediately.

Sùsù's personality was indeed too loyal. Sometimes it was good, sometimes not so good.

But his good brother had made the request, and if he didn't let Sùsù go, it would be too unfeeling.

He finally made a decision.

He would tell Sùsù the truth and let her go, but he would hire someone to accompany Sùsù, so he could feel at ease.

After Sùsù had washed up and changed into clean clothes, she emerged from the bathroom feeling refreshed, only to see Tiānyì frowning in thought.

She went over, put her arms around his neck, and asked, "Quick, smell me. Am I fragrant?"

Tiānyì caught a pleasant scent of body wash and came back to his senses, saying, "Fragrant, very fragrant. You're good enough to be served on a table."

"You're annoying. I'm not roasted duck," Sùsù playfully hit him and urged, "You should go change too."

"Alright, you go wait for me in the living room. Don't you dare sneak a bite of breakfast by yourself," Tiānyì said with a smile as he entered the bathroom.

When they were eating breakfast together, he then told Sùsù what Ān Jǐng had told him.

Sùsù listened, finding it hard to believe, "How could Lán Yǔ get postpartum depression? Ān Jǐng treats her quite well, and Ān Jǐng's mother doesn't seem like a difficult mother-in-law."

"Auntie is a very kind person. I know her well; she would never treat Lán Yǔ badly," Tiānyì said. "I think Lán Yǔ has been under a lot of pressure since she got together with Ān Jǐng, due to the Xie family. And Ān Jǐng, by focusing on finding Xiào Xiào, didn't take good care of her after childbirth, which is why she became depressed."

Sùsù nodded, agreeing with Tiānyì's analysis.

She had confided in Lán Yǔ a few times before. Lán Yǔ was indeed under a lot of pressure due to past events and always felt particularly insecure, always believing she wasn't good enough for Ān Jǐng.

It seemed Lán Yǔ's mindset had never truly changed.

"Then I can only go and accompany Lán Yǔ. But if I leave, you'll be alone in Lánchéng. What if something happens and who will help you?" Although Sùsù had long wanted to go and help find Xiào Xiào, she still felt uneasy about leaving Tiānyì alone if she were to go.
