He didn't believe it, shaking his head with amusement. "You're Shu Zhongze's daughter, of course you'd speak for the Shu family. You weren't even born then, what could you possibly know?"
"But I do know. You are pathetic, not because of your mother, but because of the Lu family and your father. You're blaming the wrong people." Susu wanted to see him to tell him this cruel truth. "Your mother loved you, deeply. She even considered leaving the person she loved most for you. The Lu family wanted to use you to tie down your mother, to make her use the Shu family's wealth to help their nearly bankrupt handicraft factory."
Lu Yuanhong seemed to see through her, staring at her and smiling dismissively. "Stop weaving stories. It was the Shu family that ruined our Lu family's factory and caused my father to jump to his death."
Susu took out a few yellowed pages from her bag, torn from Wen Shuman's diary, and handed them to Lu Yuanhong. "You should recognize the handwriting, look for yourself. These pages are torn from your mother's diary. The truth is all written on them."
Lu Yuanhong took the pages blankly. What had started as a hint of mockery froze on his face like a statue as he read the words.
Susu didn't want to waste more words with him. Letting him read, she said to Kangxi, "Let's go."
Su Kangxi hadn't fully understood their conversation, but he still followed Susu out of the cell.
The prison guards outside glanced in before preparing to close the door.
As the door closed behind them, they heard Lu Yuanhong suddenly let out a scream of pain and madness, "This is impossible! How could this happen! They've all lied to me, they're all liars..."
As the doors closed one by one behind Susu and Su Kangxi, the painful, desperate roar also faded.
Susu tilted her head back and smiled at the sky outside the detention center, feeling a sense of cathartic relief.
Su Kangxi asked curiously, "Susu, were you just talking to him about the past grievances between the Shu and Lu families? How do you know all this?"
"I saw it in a diary Shu Zhongze gave me," Susu said calmly. "Actually, what Lu Yuanhong cared about most in his life was being abandoned by his parents, but he never knew the truth. Susu nodded. "Yes. Killing is just a nod of the head, I wanted to destroy his spirit, plunge him into complete despair, and let him know his entire life was a joke."
Su Kangxi could hardly believe it was the Susu he knew. He muttered, "It seems women are not to be offended."
Susu smiled and patted his back. "What are you muttering about? Later, you can have someone interrogate him. Maybe he'll confess everything if he's mentally broken."
Su Kangxi was about to reply when he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He took it out and saw it was Qin Tianyi calling. He quickly pointed to his phone. "It's President Qin. Did you tell him about you coming to see Lu Yuanhong?"
Susu immediately waved her hand. "Don't tell him, so he doesn't worry. Hurry and take me back."
Su Kangxi, accustomed to her ways, gestured for her to get in the car and turned to answer Qin Tianyi's call.
"Officer Su, is Susu with you? I couldn't get through to her phone this morning. I contacted Yanan and Xiao Anjing, and they said they hadn't seen her."
"Yes, she's here with me giving a statement," Su Kangxi lied for her. "Lu Yuanhong is about to be extradited to Southeast Asia, and there are some things she needs to clarify at the police station. I thought you wouldn't be able to come, so I spoke to her last night. My colleague will help her finish her statement, and then I'll take her back. Don't worry, she's safe."
