Chapter 658 The Stumbling Block to Happiness

"Ah, I see. Then he won't be tried anytime soon."

"That's right, but don't worry, drug trafficking is also severely punished in Southeast Asia, usually with the death penalty. No matter where he's tried, he's facing a death sentence," Su Kangxi quickly added.

Susu asked, "Can I see him before he's extradited?"

"Susu, why do you want to see him? Don't do anything foolish..."

Susu said calmly, "Don't worry, I won't bring a knife to see him. I just have something I want to give him. How about tomorrow? See if you can arrange for me to see him tomorrow, just a brief meeting, even for a few minutes would be fine."

Su Kangxi thought for a moment and said, "Okay, come see me tomorrow morning. I need him to sign some extradition documents. You can come with me, but don't say anything until we see him."

"Understood. See you tomorrow." After hanging up, Susu couldn't help but clench her fists. To kill someone's heart, even if he couldn't escape the death penalty, she wanted him to taste the torment of a broken spirit.

The next morning, she was waiting at the police station early.

Su Kangxi knew she had arrived. After making her wait for a while, he came out of the police station with the prepared documents.

As they got into the car, he told the driver that Susu was a media person from the legal affairs column and wanted to meet the heinous Lu Yuanhong to gather some legal material.

Susu sat in the car without saying much, smiling at the driver.

She and Kangxi arrived at the detention center where Lu Yuanhong was being held. This place was different from ordinary detention centers; it was where serious offenders awaiting trial were kept. Therefore, it was hidden and had extremely strict security measures.

With every door they passed, Su Kangxi had to use his face and fingerprints. Susu counted five iron doors before they reached the cell where Lu Yuanhong was confined.

The prison guard opened the cell door. As they walked in, they saw Lu Yuanhong, but there was still an iron grate separating them.

Lu Yuanhong had lost weight, with dark circles under his eyes, looking nothing like his former rosy-cheeked self.

However, he still maintained his composure and elegance. Looking at Su Kangxi and Susu, he smiled and said, "Officer Su, why are you here with Mrs. Qin? This shouldn't be within your regulations, should it?"

Seeing him again, Susu's teeth clenched with hatred, but she could only stare at him intently.

Su Kangxi smiled without losing his composure and said, "Mr. Lu, I'm here today because I need you to sign some extradition documents. I hope you'll cooperate. Actually, it's fine if you don't say anything. After all, the laws in any country now emphasize evidence. Physical and witness evidence are more convincing than confessions."

Lu Yuanhong burst into laughter and said, "After all this, you still can't do anything to me. You're sending me back to Southeast Asia, a place I know better than you."

"The net of heaven is wide, but it misses nothing. No matter where you are, you will eventually pay for the crimes you've committed," Susu said with cold contempt.

Lu Yuanhong stopped laughing, looking genuinely annoyed, and said, "I shouldn't have been lenient with you. If it weren't for your interference, I would have destroyed the Shu Corporation long ago. Why do you, this wretched woman, and she help the Shu family? What's so good about the Shu family?"

"Instead of helping the Shu family, should I let someone like you, with a beastly heart, achieve your desires?" Susu retorted with amusement.

He smiled and said, "Do you really think Shu Zhongze cherishes you as his daughter? I've checked. You're just one of his abandoned children from years ago. He only acknowledged you when the Shu Corporation was in crisis, wanting to use you. What's the difference between him and me? We're both people who stop at nothing. He just has a better family background, saving him decades of struggle. Now that the Shu Corporation's crisis is resolved, he'll discard you. That's the nature of the Shu family."

"I don't need you to remind me," Susu said coldly. "I don't care about that. I only know that he wouldn't commit murder and arson like you. You don't deserve to be Wen Shuman's son. It's a shame she thought she made the best arrangements for you and that you would become a kind and upright person."

Lu Yuanhong was instantly enraged by her words. He frantically slammed his hands against the iron grate in front of him. "What do you mean by best arrangements? If she didn't want me, she should have just thrown me far away. I was always an obstruction to her pursuit of happiness in her eyes! But if she didn't want me, why did she bring me into this world!"

Su Kangxi had never seen him so angry and agitated. He was stunned into silence.

Hearing the commotion, the prison guard rushed in, pointing at him and shouting, "Behave yourself! Stand properly! Don't smash the door!"

Lu Yuanhong realized he had lost control. How could he be so easily provoked by a few words from this woman?

He quickly regained his composure, tidied his white hair with one hand, and said in a calm tone, "You're so young, what do you understand? If I hadn't taken risks, how could I have accumulated wealth quickly and possessed the same power as Shu Zhongze? Kindness and uprightness only lead to humiliation and bullying. My father was honest and hardworking his whole life, and what was his fate in the end?"

"You're wrong," Susu said, feeling he was truly pitiable.

Lu Yuanhong looked at her with disdain, no longer bothering to look at her. He only looked at Su Kangxi and said, "Officer Su, did you deliberately bring her here to try some new trick, to get something out of me? Don't waste your time. You're too green for me. If there's anything to sign, bring it over quickly. Of course, I'm willing to be extradited."

Su Kangxi said to the prison guard who had entered, "You two stay outside. Nothing will happen."

The prison guards heard him and went out, gently closing the outer door.

He handed the documents and a pen to Lu Yuanhong and simply said, "Sign here."

Lu Yuanhong took the papers and pen through the gaps in the iron grate. After a brief glance, he signed without hesitation.

Su Kangxi observed him as he signed, noticing his hand trembled slightly as he held the pen. It seemed Susu's words had a significant impact on him.

He hadn't expected that the police, despite their best efforts and prolonged interrogation, couldn't elicit any emotional response from him. Yet, Susu's casual remarks could cause such a drastic change in his emotions.

At this moment, he truly felt that Susu might be able to break through his psychological defenses.

After Lu Yuanhong finished signing, he pretended to prepare to leave with Susu.

As they turned to walk out, he deliberately asked, "Susu, how do you know he's wrong? Where exactly is he wrong?"

Susu immediately replied, "He's wrong in every way. His entire life from the beginning was a mistake."

Lu Yuanhong, unconvinced, called out to them, "Gu Susu, clarify what you mean. My life is entirely under my control, and I never allow any mistakes."

Susu stopped in her tracks, slowly turned around, and looked at him again. "You think your father was honest and hardworking? Then you're wrong. You think Wen Shuman didn't want you? That's also wrong. At that time, you knew nothing. You were deceived by your father and the Lu family."
