The bookworm’s voice was icy, his attitude utterly resolute, catching Vanessa completely off guard.
Having spoken, the bookworm turned to leave.
Even Vanessa, despite her lack of intellect, realized something was amiss. However, seeing he was just a teenage boy, she didn't take him seriously and lunged to grab him.
“Apologies, little one, but you have no say in this matter!”
As a superhuman, Vanessa’s speed and strength far surpassed ordinary humans.
Yet, before she could even grasp the bookworm’s arm, he sensed her move. He suddenly appeared ahead of her, moving like lightning, and with a swift grab, seized Vanessa’s wrist, rendering her immobile.
“I told you not to meddle. Why are you so disobedient? Foolish mortal!”
The bookworm’s voice was indifferent as he spoke.
“Who exactly are you?”
Vanessa finally grasped the gravity of the situation.
She realized that even with all her strength, she couldn’t budge her wrist from his grip.
“Hey, Dave, what are you doing? I won’t allow you to be so rude to Miss Vanessa!”
Just then, a boy noticeably taller and more muscular than his peers strode over.
He pointed at the bookworm, completely oblivious to the unfolding events.
He thought the bookworm was merely his quiet classmate and didn’t consider why Vanessa, a formidable superhuman, was being held by his classmate.
Adolescence, driven by lust, could lead to anything.
As the muscular boy imagined a heroic rescue followed by an intimate encounter with Vanessa, the bookworm suddenly reached out, and the muscular boy was directly pulled into his grasp.
The bookworm opened his mouth, as if drawing something in.
Then, the muscular boy’s complexion instantly withered.
It wasn't just his complexion that faded, but also his vitality.
In a mere two seconds, the muscular boy had his life force drained, his body reduced to mere skin and bones.
The bookworm released him, and he collapsed limply to the ground, lifeless.
Witnessing this, the entire scene fell silent for two seconds.
Following the first scream, more screams erupted, one after another, ceaselessly.
When real danger loomed, even the most curious dared not risk their lives.
In an instant, everyone scattered, and the school entrance descended into chaos.
Boulder and Vincent finally understood Chen Xiao’s intention and quickly ran to help.
Chen Xiao, however, showed no intention of acting yet; he wanted to observe first.
He was observing not only the strength of these superhumans but also the power of their opponent, the celestial being disguised as the ‘bookworm.’
After the bookworm drained the muscular boy, Vanessa reacted swiftly.
She was known as Spider-Woman, and her abilities were naturally related to spiders.
However, her powers weren't about swinging between buildings or spitting webs.
Her ability was to truly transform into a spider.
Her upper body retained its human form.
Though her proportions became exaggerated, bursting her clothes and revealing a scene unsuitable for minors.
Below her abdomen, however, she was no longer human.
A massive spider’s abdomen sprouted six slender, hard spider legs, sharp as steel blades.
“I don’t care who you are, today you will pay for what you’ve done!”
Vanessa roared in fury.
As she shouted, she spat out a mass of white silk, which shot towards the bookworm with blinding speed.
“Hmph, you demoness!”
The bookworm flicked his finger, and a strange blue flame emerged, meeting the silk.
Before the mass of silk could fully unfurl, it was completely incinerated by the blue flame, turning to ash.
Simultaneously, Vanessa’s steel-like spider legs swept towards the bookworm.
The bookworm reached out, firmly grasping a spider leg and, with a sharp twist, snapped it.
“Ah–”
Vanessa let out a pained scream.
The bookworm, showing no mercy, said indifferently, “You love to meddle so much? Since you seek death, I shall grant it!”
Saying this, the bookworm opened his mouth towards Vanessa, clearly intending to replicate what he had just done to the muscular boy.
Terror flashed across Vanessa’s beautiful face.
She felt something within her body being pulled outwards, towards the bookworm’s mouth.
At the critical moment, Vanessa heard a thud, followed by a sharp pain, as if she had been hit by a speeding vehicle and sent flying.
Painful as it was, her life was at least saved.
In the spot where she had been standing was a man over two meters tall, with hard, bulging muscles – it was Boulder!
It turned out Boulder had knocked her away, saving her life.
“Thank you for saving my life, but did you have to do it this way…”
Vanessa said with a helpless expression, Boulder’s forceful shove had nearly killed her!
However, Boulder had no time to attend to Vanessa’s complaint.
After sending Vanessa flying, his body instantly grew larger. His already steel-like muscles were coated in a shimmering silver, like mercury.
“Die!”
Boulder’s massive hand seized the bookworm’s head entirely and squeezed with all his might.
The bookworm’s head instantly exploded into pieces, brains and blood spraying out, splattering onto Boulder’s silver muscles.
At the same time, Vincent drew the twin blades from his back and unleashed a barrage of attacks on the bookworm’s body.
Vincent sliced the bookworm’s body into pieces, leaving only half of its original mass in the blink of an eye.
Vincent’s actions weren’t out of anger, but a lesson learned. Once, when he and his companions were fighting an enemy, he had decapitated the foe and, believing the enemy dead, let his guard down.
To his surprise, the headless enemy had impaled his companion through the heart…
Ever since that day, Vincent had felt it was crucial to dismember even a fallen enemy.
He thought it, and he acted upon it, just as he was doing now.
Ten seconds later, the bookworm’s body was reduced to mere fragments, bones shattered, dead beyond any possibility of revival.
“Mission accomplished!”
Vincent let out a long sigh and said to Chen Xiao, feigning nonchalance.
Chen Xiao glanced at the three and said coldly, “Three fools, you don’t even know who your opponent is! You killed the wrong person; the one who died was Dave!”
