Gentle Sleep Instructor

Chapter 89 Don't Come Back

Chapter 12 The Unspeakable Sense of Disharmony

Chen Yao, unable to defend herself, was driven to desperation.

The so-called testimonies were naturally orchestrated by Li Yanwei. The security guards, teachers, and two students who gave false testimonies all met gruesome ends at Chen Yao's hands.

Chen Yao, transformed into a vengeful ghost, cruelly ripped off their chins and tongues.

This was her revenge for their lies.

Since Chen Yao's death, Li Yanwei had imprisoned him here. He had briefly escaped once, but thinking about Chen Yao's soul still lingering, he had secretly returned, only to be discovered by Li Yanwei's security guards.

The three female security guards flashed in Fat's mind, sending a shiver down his spine.

After being recaptured, Li Yanwei, to prevent his escape, not only stole his phone but also instructed the security guards to break his legs.

Afterward, she arranged for someone to bring him food every day, treating him like...like a dog!

Jiang Cheng recalled the way Su Yu spoke of these things, and he felt like he was going crazy.

The locks and talismans on the two doors were also arranged by Li Yanwei to prevent him and Chen Yao's ghost from meeting, even in death, they would not let them have their wish.

Fat gnashed his teeth as he listened. "That woman is truly wicked...!"

Jiang Cheng reached into his pocket and pulled out a small notebook, a gift from Chen Yao to Su Yu, which the latter had carefully kept.

Fat slowly turned to a page.

September 17th, Sunny

Had a background knowledge class today and learned a lot from Teacher Su. I'm very happy.

September 24th, Light Rain

It's raining outside, and the scheduled performance has been canceled. The students are all in low spirits, but Teacher Su encouraged us, saying there will be another chance next time. Let's all work hard!

September 29th, Cloudy

The first performance was a complete success! Teacher Su is such a gentle person.

October 12th, Showers

...

Almost every entry in the diary mentioned Su Yu, making it clear how much Chen Yao cared for him.

Flipping further back, Fat's expression changed slightly. "Doctor," he asked, holding up the diary, "why is there only half? Where's the rest of the diary?"

The diary had been torn in half from the middle, leaving only the first part, ending on October 27th.

"Li Yanwei is said to have snatched it away," Jiang Cheng replied. "She's mentally twisted and can't stand anything of Chen Yao's being near Su Yu."

Fat looked at Jiang Cheng and asked in a puzzled tone, "That's not right, Doctor. I can understand snatching the diary, but who snatches half and leaves the other half?"

"Su Yu wouldn't tear a diary in half and save it in two parts, would he?"

Jiang Cheng gave Fat a subtle look, not answering his question, but instead turned and walked towards the courtyard, his voice carrying over, "Come with me."

Fat clutched the half diary tightly and followed shakily.

They first passed through the courtyard, where Fat was surprised to find Su Yu still tied to the chair, his head hanging low, unsure if he was awake or had fainted again.

There was some dirt near the chair, as well as fragments of flowerpots.

Turning a few corners, they arrived at a very narrow corridor.

The corridor was long, with doors lining both sides.

This was likely a storage area, as the windows were small, clearly meant for storing things that couldn't be exposed to light, and not for people to stay for long.

Fat walked nervously. The walls here were very high, and when he looked up, it seemed like the sky had been cut apart. "Doctor," he said softly, "it's so dark here."

At the end of the corridor, Jiang Cheng casually pushed open a half-closed wooden door. It was dark inside, but it felt like a very large space, big enough to dance in.

"Remember the blackboard we saw last time we were here?" Jiang Cheng asked.

Fat poked his head inside, peering around as he replied softly, "Is that the one in the courtyard? I almost forgot about it, Doctor."

Jiang Cheng quickly scanned the room and, finding nothing unusual, stepped inside. "Yes, Su Yu said the words on it were left for him by Chen Yao."

An incredulous look appeared on Fat's face. "Chen Yao left that?!"

"Yes," Jiang Cheng nodded, as if sensing something. He walked slowly, step by step, towards one direction. "Do you remember what was written on it?"

"It seems like..." Fat racked his brains, and after a while, he replied hesitantly, "I think the first character was 'bu' (no), and the last character was also clear, but...I forgot."

He scratched his head sheepishly.

He hadn't paid much attention to the words on the blackboard at the time, so it was normal that he didn't remember.

"The last character is 'lai' (come)," Jiang Cheng suddenly said, and then he pulled down a red silk cloth in front of him, revealing a blackboard with a crack in one corner.

Fat's eyes widened, and he immediately recognized it as the one they had seen before.

Sure enough!

The first character was *bu*, and the last character was *lai*.

Judging from the size of each character, there should be two more characters in the middle, but for some reason, they had been erased.

The moment Jiang Cheng removed the red cloth, Fat suddenly felt a gust of cold wind in his face.

The wind was strange and bitingly cold, convincing Fat that these words were indeed left by a ghost.

Chen Yao.

Fat stared at the blackboard, his small eyes darting around, and a sense of inexplicable unease gradually welled up in his heart.

It was as if something was wrong, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

Jiang Cheng was silent for a long while before gradually saying, "Don't...come back."

"Don't come back?" Hearing this, Fat perked up instantly and said excitedly, "Doctor, it seems Chen Yao really left this for Su Yu, warning him not to come back to her, afraid he'd fall into Li Yanwei's trap."

Before Jiang Cheng could react, Fat went on to reason, "It seems the task is now clear. The real culprit is Li Yanwei. Ten years ago, to satisfy her desire to possess Su Yu, she falsely accused Chen Yao, causing her to die unjustly."

"And after Chen Yao became a ghost, she turned around and retaliated against those who had harmed her. This can be considered karmic retribution, an unfailing law of heaven."

Fat stroked his chin, saying in a slow but forceful tone, "Doctor, it seems the final path to survival lies with this Li Yanwei. I remember Chen Yao committed suicide in the music room. Perhaps if we catch Li Yanwei and take her to the music room, this task will be cleared."

He rambled on for a long time, but Jiang Cheng remained squatting in front of the blackboard, without any reaction, which made Fat feel a little disappointed. He tiptoed, looking at Jiang Cheng, and asked, "Doctor, what do you think of what I said?"

Jiang Cheng didn't move, only his voice carried over, and his voice was completely different from before, which made Fat feel a strange feeling.

"Look at this *bu* character...is the position a little off?"

"Is it?" Hearing Jiang Cheng's words, Fat moved closer, and gradually, he also noticed something strange. "Now that you mention it...it seems a little," he gestured with his hand, muttering, "It seems, it seems like it's a little higher."

Jiang Cheng took off his bag, took out a bottle of mineral water with half of it remaining, poured some water into his palm, then dipped his hand in the water and slowly drew a winding stroke on the blackboard.

Fat's eyes went from initial confusion to astonishment, and finally...to utter shock.

Jiang Cheng added a stroke to the *bu* character, turning it into the character *hai* (return).

Now, the sense of disharmony on the blackboard vanished.

"*Hai*...*lai* (Return...come)."

"Damn!" Fat roared, "It's 'Return my life'!!"
