Chapter 94: No Mercy 2

Chapter 94: No Mercy 2

After all the demi-human soldiers who tried to kill Alvaric and Velka were slain, Lyrith shifted her focus entirely to Alvaric.

The three of them were now tending to Alvaric, Serya, and one demi-human soldier. That soldier had already become a corpse, yet Velka still gave him the same treatment.

What she did was futile, but she continued nonetheless. It was her way of showing gratitude to the soldier.

However, Lyrith could not understand that.

"Are you stupid?" she scolded.

Marie, who heard Lyrith’s words, immediately grabbed her hand and shook her head. She even whispered, asking Lyrith to mind her words.

But instead, Lyrith tilted her head.

"Isn’t that just wasting the medicine we brought?" she complained again.

Marie slapped her own forehead. She had tried to explain, but Lyrith still did not get it. The air grew tense until Velka finally spoke.

"I’m sorry," she said softly. "I know it’s pointless. I’m sorry... but please, let me do this!" she pleaded.

Lyrith scratched her head.

"It doesn’t matter. Just do it! I’m not angry. I just don’t understand why you’re doing something impossible. That man won’t come back to life, even if you heal every wound on him."

"I’m sorry."

Those were the only words Velka could utter. She had no idea how else to explain. Whatever she said would still be hard for Lyrith to accept.

"No need to apologize. Just do it," Lyrith said again.

Serya’s condition gradually improved. The wounds on her body were deep, but with the healing potions Marie gave and Velka’s assistance with magic, her breathing had begun to stabilize. She was still weak and unconscious, but at least there was progress.

Alvaric’s situation, however, was completely different. No matter what they gave him, his body remained the same. Every few minutes, blood would pour out again—from his eyes, nose, even his ears. His body shook violently, as if in seizures.

What unsettled everyone even more was that his state kept worsening. The blood loss increased, and the intervals between seizures grew shorter. Lyrith grew deeply anxious, pouring her Mana into Alvaric’s body again and again, but it barely changed anything.

Marie tried covering Alvaric’s body with thick cloth, but it had no effect. They had been sitting there for almost an hour, and no significant change occurred.

Marie’s face was filled with fear. "What’s happening to Alvaric?" she asked with a trembling voice.

Alvaric was her childhood friend, and the reason she had entered the portal and come into this world was to save him. Yet when she finally found him, he was already gravely injured. The sight left her restless.

Velka let out a heavy sigh and looked at Marie with a serious expression.

"I only know one thing. When we went deeper into the dungeon, Alvaric suddenly vanished. No traces, no signs. And when I found him again... he was already fighting some strange creature that seemed to be this dungeon’s guardian. That creature called itself the Replica of the Angel."

She paused for a moment, as if the memory itself still froze her blood, and she had to carefully choose her words to avoid mentioning Ramiel’s name. "And somehow... after that, he collapsed. His body—until he ended up like this."

"What about the Replica of the Angel?" Marie asked.

"That creature was defeated by Alvaric."

That brought her some relief. But soon, Marie bit her lip. She was convinced that whatever had happened to Alvaric was connected to that creature. She wanted to know what became of the creature’s body. Unfortunately, the corpse was nowhere to be found.

She had no clue about what was truly happening to Alvaric.

"If this keeps going... he might die," Marie whispered weakly, almost like a prayer.

Velka could only smile bitterly. She knew it as well, but she had no idea how to heal Alvaric. Every method she knew had already been used. None produced any significant results. Her lips trembled slightly, her voice hoarse and weak.

"Could this be a curse from the dungeon’s guardian?" Velka asked.

"There’s a chance. And if that’s true, then... curing him will be nearly impossible since the dungeon guardian has already vanished. We don’t have any clues at all," Marie replied.

All the while, Lyrith had remained silent. She stared at Alvaric for a long time, unblinking. It puzzled both Velka and Marie. They exchanged glances, shrugged, and just as Velka was about to speak—

Suddenly, Lyrith touched Alvaric’s chest.

"You must stay alive."

Without warning, an enormous surge of magic erupted from within Lyrith’s body. The pressure in the area went wild. Velka, Marie, Ramiel, Serya’s body, even the soldier’s corpse were all thrown back, flung in different directions.

No one could remain standing except the supreme general—Ramiel. Yet even he could not move from his place. The pressure bursting from Lyrith’s body was overwhelming.

"What is this?" Ramiel thought.

Far away, in the capital city, at the great church, several supreme generals had gathered. They were summoned by their master. All of them bowed before him. In front of them lay several human corpses.

"What is it, my lord?" Leon asked.

The being descended from above and stood at the altar. Its entire body was formed of light, with the silhouette of vast wings. This was the being known as the Angel—the lord, the god of the demi-humans. These were the names bestowed upon him by his followers.

It was he who had granted them power, allowing them to become what they were now. That was why the supreme generals submitted to him completely.

"I have a task for you, and that is—"

Before he could finish explaining, the being suddenly turned his gaze southward. He did not shift his eyes away from that direction for a long while. Nearly ten minutes passed before Leon dared to interrupt.

"My lord, what is our task?" he asked.

The being finally turned his gaze back to Leon and the others. He continued, "I will open a portal to the human world. Take the humans you captured and execute them in front of the others. After that, slaughter as many humans as you can. I will provide you with thousands of monsters to accompany you."

Leon and the other generals nodded. "Understood."

The being snapped his fingers twice. At the first snap, thousands of monsters appeared inside the cathedral. At the second, a portal emerged before the supreme generals. They bowed once more. Then, as soon as their master vanished, they stepped into the portal.

The massacre of humans was about to begin.
