Chapter 23 Tunnel

Chapter 12 The Genius Plan

I don't know what happened, but without the slightest hesitation or resistance, I followed Fatty and sprinted to the other side of the archway.

Daniel was startled by Fatty's shout of "Run!", but he reacted in an instant, rushing towards the archway in a stride while shouting to his men behind him, "Go! Go! Go!"

The men followed closely behind, rushing into the archway. Just two seconds later, the "water droplets" backflowed, the wall immediately returned to its original state, and the entire B area was submerged by the "water droplets." Those who had not yet passed through the archway were all swallowed up by the "water droplets."

Almost in the blink of an eye, B area became as clean and new as A area, as if no one had ever been there.

And two seconds before, the moment the drone swarm came into contact with the "water droplets," all the people on the ground, along with the camp, disappeared.

...

After entering the archway, Daniel came to a long tunnel. Every ten meters on both sides of the top of the tunnel, there was a light source, emitting a dim yellow light. He looked at the figure that had long since disappeared in front of him and did not chase after them.

But only five of his men followed him.

Daniel didn't show the anger and frustration of being deceived. An imperceptible, strange smile appeared on his face.

...

Zoe and Han Yu ran wildly all the way, with Fatty and I following closely behind. After running for an unknown distance, we stopped, panting, when we saw that no one was following us.

I grabbed Fatty and asked, "What the hell is going on?"

Fatty gasped for breath and said, "This genius plan was thought of by Little Yu, but we didn't tell you, Master, because after we came up from underground, the guards kept following us, so we couldn't tell you."

Although I was extremely reluctant to admit it, Fatty was right.

Seeing that everyone had rested enough, Fatty said, "Let's talk as we walk."

It turned out that Han Yu had been inspired by Dr. Schiller's experiments. Since the "water droplets" were similar in nature to liquids, and the "water droplets" on the ground and underground were one, then something similar to gauze could be used to absorb the "water droplets" onto the ground first. When a part of the "water droplets" was absorbed onto the ground, the underground part of the "water droplets" would decrease, and this gap was the opportunity for us to escape from Daniel's control.

However, the price for doing so was too high. First of all, the thing chosen as the "gauze" had to be large enough. Secondly, when the "water droplets" were absorbed and fell back, it would inevitably cause backflow.

The interconnected drone swarm, connected to the camp, acted as "gauze." The water droplets would spread to the entire camp through the drone connections and would devour all people and objects in an instant. The Z organization's camp near the Mountains of Madness would be completely wiped out.

And the backflow of the "water droplets" would destroy the remaining B area of the underground base, and the Z organization's underground construction would also be destroyed.

If this was revenge, Han Yu's scheme would definitely cause the Z organization to suffer heavy losses.

But from another point of view, the order to open the passage was given by Daniel, and Han Yu was just following orders. The concealment of the truth about the retreat of the "water droplets" and the arrangement to exaggerate the time of the "water droplets" backflow were only for self-preservation.

Based on this, it was not an exaggeration to call Han Yu a genius.

Fatty chattered all the way, telling about the seamless work of the three of them underground.

In fact, Han Yu had long thought of a way to enter the underground palace. They had been working hard underground with oxygen tanks for so long, with only one purpose: to study the internal structure of the underground palace.

Due to the interference of the "water droplets," electromagnetic detection equipment could not be used normally in B area. The intricate tunnels dug by the miners provided convenience for the exploration of the few people. So they took advantage of the guards' shift changes and rest time to explore the secrets of the underground palace in the complex mines.

As the exploration gradually deepened, Han Yu had a flash of inspiration, and she finally knew the true origin of the "water droplets."

The "water droplets" did not appear out of thin air. It should be a substance from somewhere in the underground palace. Due to the compression and collision of the Eurasian plate and the Indian Ocean plate, the Himalayas have been increasing year by year, and in the process of geological changes in the underground palace, the protective layer of the "water droplets" was damaged, and the "water droplets" leaked out from it.

The "water droplets" on the Mountains of Madness were a part that leaked out.

"Although we escaped from the clutches of the Z organization, we have locked ourselves in an underground palace nearly a hundred meters deep, which is tantamount to suicide." I expressed my feelings frankly and voiced my concerns.

Zoe said to me, "Do you remember the colorful graphics carved on a wall in B area?"

I nodded.

Zoe continued, "I once observed carefully that the graphics on that wall were man-made carvings, arranged neatly, like a kind of writing, but I'm not sure what the specific content is.

This shows that this underground palace was built artificially. Although I don't know how they built such a magnificent underground palace nearly a hundred meters deep, it is certain that this underground palace must have an exit.

Finding the entrance among the mountains is difficult, like looking for a needle in a haystack; while finding the exit from the underground palace is relatively easy. Maybe there will be road signs in the underground palace."

Zoe's explanation convinced me.

Fatty took out a map for me to see. It was drawn based on the results of their exploration. Although the drawn graphics were very crude and had almost no annotations, the map pointed out a general direction.

Interestingly, from the map, the underground palace was actually a completely symmetrical structure. Therefore, I was even more convinced that the underground palace was built artificially.

Although there was no invasion of "water droplets" in the underground palace, interference still existed. Our flashlights could no longer be used. Not only that, my watch seemed to be affected by some kind of interference. The hands were spinning wildly and could not indicate the time normally.

A gust of wind suddenly blew through the front of the tunnel. Seeing this, Han Yu said, "As expected, there is a ventilation system in the underground palace."

So we took off our oxygen masks and took a deep breath of the natural air. It's strange to say that compared to the simple mine, the construction of the underground palace should be more complex, but the ingenious ventilation design of the craftsmen allowed fresh air to pour in continuously. It can only be said that the people who designed and built the underground palace were not simple.

Fatty kept wiping the sweat from his forehead and said, "Do you guys feel a little hot?"

Because it was normal to feel hot and sweaty after running a distance, and the heart rate had returned to normal after resting, the perceived temperature had not changed. After Fatty said this, I also felt that the temperature in the tunnel was a bit high.

"Could it be that there is not only a ventilation system in the underground palace, but also a heating system?" Fatty joked.

We took off our hiking jackets, then tied the two sleeves of the hiking jackets around our waists. The feeling of heat gradually disappeared, and we continued to walk along the tunnel according to the map.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, we finally came to the end of the tunnel. Passing through an arched door, we came to a space larger than B area.

Seeking all kinds of tickets, seeking collection and follow-up reading, I thank you all!
