Chapter 294: Lowborn…

Chapter 294: Lowborn...

Just as she spoke the word, the five holographic figures all became as still as a statue, their eyes lost all trace of life. Not only that, as the dark qi traveled from Sophia’s body through the dark threads to the millions of influential individuals in every government that held nuclear power. Like a chain reaction. One by one, hundreds of nuclear missiles were fired on the various continents in a way that the area of effect covers all the land area on earth.

In a span of a single minute, seven billion and 300 million living members of the human race, regardless of any distinction, were wiped out, vaporized, and shredded to atoms. Sophia herself felt the worst agony, since she was the most powerful being on the planet; unlike the humans, her death was not instant. But slow and painful, extremely painful as the radiation of multiple nukes was necessary to finally melt her down, since the black qi was automatically protecting herself. It was a survival instinct that she herself was unable to bypass.

Her heightened senses did not help much as she felt the pain of every cell being destroyed by the force of radiation. Eventually, she took her last breath, vaporized into nothingness just like any other human; in her case, it just took a bit longer. That was all.

The mechanical voice of the Prime Nexus resounded in her mind, crystal clear. She also saw the glyphs flashing through the eyes, as she floated within the emptiness of the void,

Sophia’s eyes remained locked on the ceiling as she finished recounting the events of her very last reincarnation during the trial. Tears trickled down her cheeks, from guilt, the pain Tyler...no Axel had to go through in his trial. It’s true, compared to the torture she herself went through in her own trial, his suffering within the trial wasn’t anything significant. But it still pained her more, because he had to go through that pain just for her own selfish desire to have him here, with her.

Did she regret it? No, not in the slightest. The very fact that he was here now was proof that her gamble had paid off; Axel was with her, that’s all that mattered. Though he was still very weak, that was fine; she would protect him. From the shadows, nothing could touch him, nothing. She promised herself with clenched fists. The darkness around her stirred restlessly in response to her fluctuating emotions.

Heinz was running through the beast forest chasing a peak 2nd-tier magical beast that resembled a Deer to a certain extent. He had been waiting in ambush for it for some time, but the damn thing had an extremely high level of magical perception and speed. Though it did get somewhat injured, it wasn’t a critical injury for the beast, which would incapacitate it, and here he thought he would get it in one shot.

The horns of the magic deer were necessary for his following forging procedure. And this thing was a bit tough to catch as well. One of the rarest types of beasts in the forest, they were not only hard to find but also hard to hunt due to their magical specialities with speed and mana perception.

Picking up the domination spear from the ground, which he had thrown moments before. He started chasing it again and determining the path forward. Heinz threw the spear again with all of his might. The creature sensed the incoming spear without much problem. He obviously knew the beast would feel it, just as it changed direction to go another way, Heinz threw another spear, calculating the right moment as the creature turned its head just a few seconds ago. It couldn’t avoid the new spear going towards it.

And just as the spear pierced the leg of the creature, immobilizing it for a few seconds, the beast let out a gut-wrenching cry of pain. Heinz did not wait, but ran towards it.

However, a figure suddenly appeared right beside the incapacitated beast, as if he had been waiting for that opportunity from the start. The figure slashed down with a shiny silver colored sword in his hand, and the sword cut through the neck of the creature like a hot knife cutting through butter. The beast did not have time to react to the unknown being that silently appeared right beside it. And the unknown one who appeared was just too fast and strong to do anything while being injured.

Heinz immediately frowned, looking at the golden-haired figure, his eyes narrowed in anger, "You? Did you just kill the beast I was chasing?"

The golden-haired figure sneered, "So, what if I did? What will you do about it?"

Heinz’s expression, filled with a trace of anger, vanished in an instant, his mind working in hyperdrive, "Is Lumina ok?"

A flicker of surprise went through the eyes of the figure, as the question seemed unrelated to the current situation. He spoke dryly, "That’s none of your business."

Heinz figured out some things just from the tone of his voice, "So, the thing about you two being poisoned by something dangerous was all a lie?"

The figure spat in disgust, "As if something like that was possible in the first place."

He added in a bored tone, "Well, not that it matters much. But let’s stop talking and get this over with."

Heinz chuckled darkly, "Though I don’t get the complete picture of what is going on, I do understand what you’re here for. But don’t you think you’re underestimating me a little too much, Lucien? Did you think I was the easy link through which you could get to Axel?"

The reply from Lucien came in instant as if already expecting that statement, "Not really, I’m just here to put a lowborn in his place, a commoner who doesn’t understand what he should and should not do. The lines he should and should not cross."

"That is all, nothing more and nothing less."

Heinz grinned threateningly, "Is that so? Then allow me to show you, Your Highness, that the outside world isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, unlike the comfort of your royal palace."
