Chapter 796: Chapter 796: Surveillance
“Cripple, cerebral palsy, aren’t those curses?”
Fu Rongyin was momentarily at a loss for words.
He certainly couldn’t say that this was a bad idea conceived just to keep her, could he?
Chi Yue took advantage of his momentary distraction, pushed him hard, and walked out again, “If you dare to stop me again, I’ll accuse you of fabricating evidence!”
Fu Rongyin had just stepped forward but withdrew his long leg and stood still, “You won’t be able to see Mianmian if you go now.”
“If I can’t see her, I’ll just wait.”
Even a distant glance would be better.
Fu Rongyin wanted to say something else, but Chi Yue had already left the hospital room.
Helplessly, he made a call to have some food delivered and followed her closely.
At the entrance of the ICU, Chi Jianshan stood, exhausted, at the closest spot to the door, straining his neck to look inside each time the door opened.
Chi Yue walked up to him, “You go rest. I’ll watch.”
The sudden voice startled Chi Jianshan, but after he saw Chi Yue, he took a deep breath, “Why are you here again? Go rest, I’ll stay here.”
“I’m fine. How is Mianmian?” Chi Yue tried to look inside, but she couldn’t see anything.
“Mianmian is fine. The doctor just said her condition is stable. After she wakes up, they’ll do an examination. If there’s no problem, she can move to a general ward.”
Chi Yue’s heart tightened, “Did you see when she was moved out of the room? How was it? How serious was it?”
Chi Jianshan remembered that pale little face, and though he wanted to say “It’s not serious,” he couldn’t bring himself to say it. He wiped his face. “She just had surgery. It’s hard to tell.”
Seeing the guilt in his eyes, Chi Yue gradually calmed down and asked, “What happened at the time? Did you see anything?”
Chi Jianshan shook his head, “When I went out, Mianmian was already on the ground, and the car responsible had long gone… It’s my fault. If not for me, she wouldn’t be in this state. My poor child…”
Chi Yue thought of the surveillance camera outside her home and decided to make a trip back.
After instructing Chi Jianshan for a bit, Chi Yue hurriedly left.
At the elevator entrance, Fu Rongyin saw Chi Yue rushing over and followed her into the elevator.
Chi Yue was preoccupied thinking about the surveillance, wondering if anyone had tampered with it during this period.
If it was an accident, she would feel somewhat better, but if it was intentional, who could it be?
Zhan Youyou is still in custody, so it couldn’t be her. Mr. Qi, despite being ruthless, would never harm his own granddaughter…
Chi Yue fell into deep thought.
Stepping out of the elevator, Chi Yue, with her eyes downcast, walked out. Halfway through, she suddenly sensed something was wrong.
She stopped and turned around, and sure enough, she saw Fu Rongyin following behind her.
Chi Yue watched him for a while, then turned her head and continued walking, eventually stopping at the road to wait for a car.
When the person behind her didn’t catch up, Chi Yue took a deep breath of relief but couldn’t help feeling disappointed.
She couldn’t end the marriage, nor could she accept him again—either way was painful.
She would find an opportunity to have a serious discussion with him once Mianmian’s issue was resolved.
As she was thinking, a familiar car stopped in front of her. In the driver’s seat, Fu Rongyin looked at her, “Get in.”
Chi Yue pondered for a moment, opened the car door, and sat in, “Take me home, thank you.”
He might be able to help with the surveillance matter.
But only when she reached home did Chi Yue realize how out of control things had gotten.
The surveillance only captured Fu Mianmian running out of the house and didn’t catch a trace of the car, not even a single frame, followed by Chi Jianshan rushing out in a hurry.
Chi Yue turned pale, “Impossible, how could there be nothing?”
