Chapter 795: 795: Cursing Oneself

Chapter 795: Chapter 795: Cursing Oneself

She had no intention of dealing with the person behind her and spoke again, “How could Mianmian know… how could she know…”

Chi Jianshan’s expression became even more pained, “I don’t know either, she suddenly asked me, before that she hadn’t said anything.”

If he had grabbed Fu Mianmian in time, she wouldn’t have run out, and wouldn’t have been hit by the passing vehicle.

The more he thought about it, the less Chi Jianshan could forgive himself.

Chi Yue’s gaze was dull, her mind empty, not knowing how much she had absorbed.

Just then, the emergency room door opened, and Chi Yue rushed over using her hands and feet, “Doctor, how is my daughter?”

The doctor said, “The child has rib fractures, a fractured lower leg, and there’s currently no life-threatening danger, her brain has sustained an impact, there are no evident signs of bleeding at the moment, but further observation is needed.”

Upon hearing this, Chi Yue became so agitated that she fainted again.

Fu Rongyin was standing right behind her, caught her the moment she fell, and immediately carried her toward the ward, “You all go handle Mianmian, I’ll take her back to the ward.”

Qi Hongwen sighed repeatedly by the side, “What is all this trouble about, it really is… alas~”

Chi Jianshan’s attention was all on the emergency room, waiting for Fu Mianmian to be brought out.

Soon, Fu Mianmian was wheeled out, to be taken to the intensive care unit for observation.

He silently watched his child, whose face was devoid of color, his heart clenched tightly.

Qi Hongwen could see how genuinely pained he was and comforted him, “Don’t blame yourself anymore, we’ve already passed the toughest hurdle. Mianmian is our Qi family’s blood, her vitality is definitely strong. Stay here, and I’ll find out who caused this; I’ll make sure that person faces the appropriate punishment!”

Chi Jianshan was uninspired, “Then I appreciate your efforts.”

Qi Hongwen said, “We’re family, no need for such formality.”

In a daze, Chi Yue heard someone talking; she tried hard to open her eyes, but couldn’t manage to open them at all.

The person’s voice became clearer; she recognized it—it was Fu Rongyin’s voice.

“There’s surveillance at the Chi family’s gate; go over the footage carefully to see when she started planning, and also, how she managed to get in touch with Mianmian. All of these must be thoroughly investigated.”

Investigate who?

Is it the person who caused the accident?

Chi Yue wanted to open her eyes, but her eyelids felt as heavy as if they weighed a thousand pounds, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t open them.

Fu Rongyin spoke again, “Stop all collaboration with him until he hands over the person.”

Who’s “he”?

Hand over whom?

Chi Yue didn’t hear the rest as she drifted back into deep sleep.

When she awoke again, her ward was empty, and the infusion had already finished.

She tried getting out of bed; fortunately, she had regained much of her strength.

Just as she walked out of the ward, she saw Fu Rongyin coming towards her, his tall, lean figure capturing many gazes.

Chi Yue turned to walk away, but Fu Rongyin quickened his steps and caught up to her, sweeping her off her feet without a word.

Chi Yue glared at him, “Put me down!”

Fu Rongyin, with a stern face, carried her back to the ward, “The doctor said your body is too weak, you need to rest in bed.”

“I won’t! Let go of me, I want to go find Mianmian.”

With his long strides, Fu Rongyin was back in the ward quickly and imprisoned her on the hospital bed. Then he blocked her with his hands propped on either side of the bed.

Chi Yue was so angry that her eyes turned red, “I want to see my daughter, why won’t you let me see my daughter?”

Fu Rongyin sighed, raising his hand to tidy the stray hair at her forehead, “Mianmian is fine, resting in the ICU, and after one day of observation, she can be moved to a regular ward.”

“I want to go see her!”

“Not for now, you would disturb her rest.”

Chi Yue suddenly stopped moving as she looked at him.

He was always like this—the more extreme she got, the calmer he became.

It was the same now.

Chi Yue’s eyes turned vicious, “Mianmian is your biological daughter, don’t you care about her at all? Or is it that you already knew something would happen, that’s why you’re so calm?”

Fu Rongyin’s deep black eyes instantly turned profound, “Chi Yue, she’s my own child, not my enemy.”

“Someone like you, who can even curse yourself, considers a child just a tool to be used whenever convenient, don’t they? Fu Rongyin, I really misjudged you!”

Fu Rongyin’s eyebrows suddenly knitted together, “When have I ever cursed myself?”
