Chi Yue subconsciously tried to pull away, only to realize she couldn’t move at all. She glared at him furiously, “Let go.”
Fu Rongyin’s fingertips caressed her knuckles gently, “Tonight, I’ll sleep on the couch.”
Chi Yue: “…”
At least he was aware of himself; that was good, so she didn’t have to say it herself.
She withdrew her hand, carrying the medical kit as she left, “You sleep wherever you want.”
After placing the medical kit properly, Chi Yue stayed outside for a while before returning to the room.
Knowing he would sleep on the couch, she couldn’t help but glance towards it, only to find it empty. She panicked, instinctively looking towards the bed, and the next second, her pretty face grew incredibly long.
Chi Yue felt darkness before her eyes, and then she heard Fu Mianmian’s voice, “Mommy, why aren’t you coming to bed?”
“…”
Her body tensed up as she asked, “Why are you awake?”
Fu Mianmian rubbed her eyes and sat up, “I don’t know how I woke up. I didn’t see you guys when I got up, but I found daddy on the couch, so I called him over… Mommy, come over, let’s sleep.”
Chi Yue: “…”
Had she known earlier, she wouldn’t have gone to put away the medical kit and thus wouldn’t have given Fu Rongyin the opportunity to exploit the situation.
She resignedly walked over, lulled Fu Mianmian to sleep, and then planned to wake Fu Rongyin. But out of the corner of her eye, she saw Fu Mianmian clutching his hand tightly, and she felt a wave of helplessness wash over her.
Fu Rongyin seemed utterly exhausted; she stood by the bed for so long without eliciting any response from him, and his breathing was steady, indicating he had fallen into a deep sleep.
After standing for a moment, Chi Yue walked to the couch and lay down.
Forget it, just get through the day.
Turning off the floor lamp, Chi Yue covered herself with a small blanket and closed her eyes.
Unbeknownst to her, the man who should have been asleep suddenly opened his eyes after she closed hers.
He silently gazed at the figure curled up on the couch, his dark eyes shaded deeply, inscrutable.
After watching for a while, he closed his eyes again, appeased.

Chi Yue was awakened by Fu Mianmian’s laughter.
Upon opening her eyes, she found herself in bed, with Fu Mianmian’s voice coming from the bathroom.
“Mianmian?”
Fu Mianmian peeked out from the bathroom, “Mommy? You’re awake?”
“Are you… brushing your teeth?”
Chi Yue was astonished to see Fu Mianmian with a mouth full of foam.
She knew that Fu Mianmian loved candy and hated brushing her teeth. Every day, it took quite an effort to make her brush.
Fu Mianmian mumbled something unintelligible, and Chi Yue held her forehead, telling her to talk after finishing brushing her teeth.
She got out of bed, and upon remembering something, she suddenly paused and looked towards the couch.
Was it Fu Rongyin who carried her to the bed?
Thinking of his leg, Chi Yue’s expression darkened. He really didn’t take his own health seriously at all.
After changing her clothes, she entered the bathroom to find Fu Rongyin washing Fu Mianmian’s face with cautious tenderness that made Chi Yue feel inferior.
She knocked on the door, “Mianmian, you’re going to play with Grandpa today. Mommy has to go to work.”
Without looking back, Fu Mianmian waved, “Bye Mommy.”

Upon arriving at the studio, Dai Qiu followed her into the office and tiptoed to her side, speaking in a mysterious whisper, “Mr. Chi, something happened today when I was delivering results to a client for you!”
“What happened?”
Dai Qiu leaned closer and lowered her voice, “When I passed by a private room, the door wasn’t closed, and I happened to overhear someone mentioning you. Out of curiosity, I stopped to listen, and it turned out, they were discussing the car accident!
