Chapter 776: Chapter 776 Owed to Him
Chi Yue seemed too shocked, and for a moment she did not react at all.
While Chi Yue was still stunned, Fu Mianmian led Fu Rongyin into the room, and scurried off to the cloakroom to fetch pajamas for him, “Daddy, go take a shower.”
Fu Rongyin said nothing, ruffled Fu Mianmian’s hair, took the clothes, and entered the bathroom.
The sound of the closing door completely awakened Chi Yue.
Chi Yue pulled Fu Mianmian in front of her and asked in a low voice, “Mianmian, why did you bring him here?”
Meeting Fu Mianmian’s puzzled gaze, Chi Yue changed her words, “What I mean is, his leg is injured; you should have let him rest in the guest room downstairs.”
“But I want to sleep with you both, and Daddy agreed.”
Chi Yue: “…”
But no matter what, she would never again share the same bed with Fu Rongyin.
So she coaxed, “All right, let’s go to sleep first.”
Fu Mianmian happily lay down on the bed and thoughtfully left a space for Fu Rongyin.
Just as she was about to fall asleep, she suddenly opened her eyes again, “Mommy, can you not send Daddy away later, please?”
Chi Yue paused for a moment, guiltily nodded.
Fu Mianmian finally felt at ease and closed her eyes, falling asleep instantly.
After a while, Chi Yue shifted Fu Mianmian to the side, and the two occupied the entire bed, leaving no space for Fu Rongyin.
She did not want to face Fu Rongyin directly, so she lay down, closed her eyes, and forced herself to fall asleep.
With a man in the room, the more she wanted to fall asleep quickly, the more she could not fall asleep.
Just then, sounds of a shower curtain falling and the man’s muffled groan, followed by a sharp intake of breath, came from the bathroom.
Chi Yue’s heart tightened, and she reflexively stood up intending to walk toward the bathroom but stopped halfway and turned back.
Again, the man’s muffled groan came from the bathroom, making Chi Yue’s scalp tingle in the silent night.
She took a deep breath and headed resolutely toward the bathroom.
The moment she opened the door, the man quickly grabbed a towel around his waist, but Chi Yue still saw it.
Her face tightened even more as she thought about leaving, but eventually under his intense gaze, she reached out to him, “Don’t dirty my floor.”
Fu Rongyin was first stunned, then reached behind him, pulling himself up with her help.
The towel around his waist slid down without resistance and silkily fell to the floor.
Chi Yue instinctively turned around, opened the bathroom door, and walked out.
Accidentally using too much force, she slammed the bathroom door shut forcefully.
Chi Yue went downstairs and drank a large cup of water to cool down the heat on her face.
She soon felt she was being oversensitive. They had a child together; it wasn’t as if she hadn’t seen it before, so why feel shy?
After the heat on her face subsided, she recalled seeing his calf, the bandage soaked and marked with faint red stains.
She took a deep breath and muttered lowly, “It’s indeed his fault.”
Finding the first aid kit, Chi Yue headed back upstairs.
As she opened the door, Fu Rongyin was sitting on the sofa in the room, unwrapping his bandage.
“Don’t move!”
Chi Yue quickly walked over and slapped his hand away, then squatted in front of him, furrowing her brows intensely.
The bandage had been partly unwrapped, only the last layer stuck to his skin remained.
Chi Yue carefully peeled off the bandage, her already furrowed brows twisting into a “川” character.
She had never seen the wound on Fu Rongyin’s leg; when the twisted, stitched scar appeared in front of her, Chi Yue’s hand uncontrollably trembled.
No wonder he had been bedridden for so long, the wound was that extensive.
Thinking of the bloody scene of the car accident that day, Chi Yue’s motions became much gentler as she treated the wound, only realizing what she had just done when she finished.
Looking up, she met the man’s deep eyes, promptly avoiding his gaze and nonchalantly tidying up the items.
Suddenly, the man grasped her hand.
