On the day Fu Mianmian was discharged from the hospital, the woman who tried to kidnap her confessed, though even if she hadn’t, the result would have been the same.

Seeing that Chi Yue was unbudging, Chi Jianshan had no choice but to give up.
Chi Yue arranged a meeting with Chu Shuo.
No sooner had Chi Yue sat down than Chu Shuo asked her, “Are you sure you want to divorce him? This is the third appeal for divorce.”
“Yes, no matter how many times, as long as I can get divorced.”
“I still suggest you see him first.”
“There’s no need for that. Let’s begin,” she said to the lawyer beside her.
Chu Shuo still spoke up, “Fu Rongyin is not such an irresponsible man. Why don’t you try contacting him again?”
Chi Yue paused for a moment and said, “Chu Shuo, the man I love the most wasn’t there when I needed him the most. He even blocked my calls. Do you know that kind of despair? I admit that I forgot about those ten years he endured pains I know nothing about, but these past years I’ve also been working hard to make it up to him. I’ve given my all, and I don’t have the strength to keep going.”
Chu Shuo did not respond.
Over those ten years, he had watched as Fu Rongyin struggled to recover, but it was only a superficial recovery.

As Chi Yue talked with the lawyer, Chu Shuo listened in. Halfway through, he stood up and went out to smoke a cigarette.
In the haze of smoke, he saw Fu Rongyin’s face as if still suffering from a hangover, and ultimately, he took out his phone and dialed Fu Rongyin’s number.

He had not closed his eyes for three days, all for the sake of solving the problem and returning to Nancheng within a week.
“What is it?” he asked.
Hearing the exhaustion in his voice, Chu Shuo had initially wanted to joke around but, overtaken by compassion, informed him directly, “Your wife is discussing divorce matters with a lawyer, she’s insisting on divorcing you.”
There was silence for a long time on the other end before the response, “So are you making this call to mock me, or to help me strategize?”
“Neither,” Chu Shuo looked back inside, “I’m just giving you a heads-up. Her attitude towards the divorce is very firm; even if you come back, it wouldn’t help.”
