Chapter 1805: Chapter 1805: Such an Old-Fashioned Way to Ask a Girl Out!
Robin Matthews handed Carson Flores over to Aden Matthews and then turned to leave.
"Follow him, do as you’re told, and you’ll benefit. Otherwise, your life might be at stake."
Carson appeared meek and obedient, keeping his head down, seemingly afraid to make eye contact. In reality, he was worried they would see through him. Despite his outward fear, he felt no fear internally.
"Come with me."
Aden Matthews spoke kindly to Robin but showed no kindness to Carson, giving a low command as he led the way.
Carson followed behind Aden, eyeing his unguarded back. He secretly wondered that if he unleashed a Black Dragon Wave, this guy might not even have a speck left of him.
Aden Matthews led Carson through the city to the waterfall cascading from the Nine Heavens.
In front of the waterfall were rows of pavilions, mostly two stories high. They weren’t large, but each was exquisitely built, with a beautiful surrounding that seemed like a fairyland, shrouded in white mist.
"Answer whatever the noble asks you, do not lie."
Carson softly replied, "Okay!"
Aden warned, "Remember, you are now a captive, a slave. If you speak recklessly, I will kill you immediately. Here, no one can save you!"
"Yes."
Aden glanced at Carson twice before leading him to the pavilion closest to the waterfall, with the best position and most beautiful scenery.
At the pavilion’s entrance, two guards stopped Aden.
Aden bowed and said, "Miss Matthews wanted to chat with some human captives. We captured a few, so I’m here to deliver one."
After the guard communicated this, he replied, "Leave him and you may leave."
Aden felt a surge of anger. After all, he was the son of the Puddington Tribe Chief and practically the host here. But Callie Matthews, as the favored granddaughter of the Clan Leader, was treating him like this on Puddington grounds—wasn’t this a bit much?
Aden raised his voice, "Aden Matthews seeks a private audience with Miss Matthews."
The guard frowned, looking displeased, about to rebuke him, when a crisp, lazy female voice came from inside.
"Come in."
Aden breathed a sigh of relief. If she hadn’t even given him a chance to meet privately, he definitely would have had no opportunity left.
Aden composed himself before leading Carson into the pavilion.
The first floor was a spacious living room, and outside was a sizeable viewing platform directly facing the waterfall.
On the platform sat a young woman in a soft chair. She was very beautiful, with an undeniable air of arrogance between her brows.
Aden bowed slightly, "Miss Matthews!"
Callie Matthews glanced over Aden and paused momentarily when her eyes fell on Carson.
"Why did you want to see me?"
Aden smiled, "Miss Matthews has come from afar as a guest. As the host, I have a duty to properly entertain and take care of you. I came to ask if there’s anything you need assistance with, so I can arrange it."
Callie responded calmly, "Thank you for the concern. I’m living well, and if I need anything, I will certainly speak up."
Callie’s calm tone left Aden unsure how to continue. Gritting his teeth, he decided to offer an invitation directly.
"Miss Matthews, beyond our Puddington Tribe lies Dragon Valley, a place of stunning beauty. If you don’t mind, I could serve as your guide and show you around."
Keeping his head down, Carson almost laughed at Aden’s words.
Such an old-fashioned way of inviting a lady.
Why don’t you say your cat can do backflips too?
Carson clenched his jaw, suppressing his laughter entirely, not daring to show any hint of amusement. Yet, despite this, it still drew Callie’s attention since Carson, standing slightly behind Aden, was still within her direct sight.
Callie narrowed her eyes slightly, returning her gaze to Aden. "Thank you, Mr. Matthews, but I’m quite lazy. I don’t like moving around, nor am I interested in scenic views, so there’s no need to trouble you."
Aden was bluntly rejected, feeling extremely frustrated inside. "No trouble at all, it’s my duty."
Callie looked at Aden, remaining silent for two seconds before suddenly speaking, "Mr. Matthews, I have heard some rumors. However, my visit this time is solely to use the Spirit Vein for some training, and nothing more."
Aden was momentarily stunned, unable to hide his disappointment in his eyes.
Callie’s words were a clear rejection, meaning she had no interest in him and that he shouldn’t overthink things since her visit was purely for training, unrelated to him.
Even though Aden felt disheartened, he managed to maintain his composure as the host, "Understood, Miss Matthews. I won’t disturb you further regarding the Spirit Vein negotiations with Hundred Tribulations Gate. I’ll inform you of the outcome at the earliest opportunity."
Callie smiled, "Thank you!"
Callie’s smile was beautiful, yet Aden knew it was purely polite, having nothing to do with him.
Aden turned and pointed to Carson, "This human was just captured by my tribe. I brought him here..."
