Chapter 420: Chapter 420 Disheveled Clothing
Nan Qiao got up and saw Li Yehan walking in, his face full of helplessness.
“Li Yehan, I’ve already told you, my brother checked the home’s surveillance system. Aren’t you afraid he’ll discover you?”
“I hacked your surveillance. There won’t be any problems.”
Nan Qiao: “…”
Li Yehan carried a bag and placed it on the table.
Nan Qiao walked over, and Li Yehan said to her, “See if you like it.”
Nan Qiao assumed it was some late-night snacks. When she opened it, she froze in shock.
“Li Yehan, you used a plastic bag to pack all this jewelry and accessories?”
“A plastic bag can hold it, it’s sturdy, and it makes climbing over walls more convenient.”
Li Yehan had brought some over; the rest he planned to include in the future betrothal gifts.
Nan Qiao stared at the pile of items, but she had no intention of accepting them.
“I already have plenty of jewelry at home, more than I can even wear. Take these back with you.”
Li Yehan pulled Nan Qiao over and sat her on his lap.
At such close distance, his cool scent surrounded her, and Nan Qiao suddenly remembered the fiery moments from last night.
Nan Qiao’s ears flushed red, and Li Yehan teased her, “Qiaoqiao, what are you thinking about?”
“Nothing at all.”
Nan Qiao tried to get up, but Li Yehan held her tightly, refusing to let her leave.
“Giving you gifts has no hidden meaning. I just want to pamper you as much as I can, to love you, Qiaoqiao. I’ve said it before: what’s mine is yours. I’ve never forgotten those words.”
Nan Qiao tilted her head slightly, locking eyes with Li Yehan.
“But there’s no need to keep giving gifts all the time.”
Li Yehan smiled and said, “I’ve already bought them. If I don’t give them to you, they’ll just sit around and become outdated.”
Nan Qiao couldn’t help laughing. Li Yehan certainly had a knack for giving gifts.
“Did Mo Shaolin go abroad?”
“Yes, he left. Staying in Jing City would only bring more trouble to Huo Siyu. Even though he knows he made mistakes, whether he’s forgiven or not depends on Huo Siyu, not him.”
Nan Qiao agreed with Li Yehan’s words.
If apologies were enough, why would we need the police?
Li Yehan brought up Li Xia having called Mo Shaolin, sharing everything openly with Nan Qiao without holding back.
“Jiang Ningzhu is just ridiculous. Now she’s running to ask Mo Shaolin, isn’t it because he’s ignoring her? Is she afraid her backup plan’ll slip away?”
“Very likely. My Qiaoqiao truly is smart, sharp and straight to the point.”
“I’m telling you, Li Xia didn’t initially accept Mo Shaolin and pretended not to know he liked her. But now, since Mo Shaolin isn’t chasing after her anymore, she’s the one feeling uncomfortable.”
“Mo Shaolin has poor eyesight. I told him to get an eye exam while he’s abroad.”
Nan Qiao burst out laughing; Li Yehan had such a funny way of speaking.
Li Yehan said confidently, “My judgment is still the best.”
Nan Qiao laughed helplessly and playfully pushed Li Yehan. “Hurry up and go home.”
Li Yehan leaned closer to her and asked softly, “Are you afraid of me?”
“I’m tired and want to sleep. You should go now.”
Nan Qiao lay down on the bed, pulled up the blanket, and yawned.
Li Yehan took off his jacket and pants. When Nan Qiao saw this, she sat up in fright.
“Li Yehan, what are you doing?”
“Sleeping.”
Nan Qiao: “I can’t do this anymore, I’m afraid I’ll just drop dead.”
The thought of last night immediately reminded Nan Qiao of Li Yehan’s impressive stamina.
Li Yehan lay beside her, turned to face her, his gaze gentle and filled with affection as he looked at Nan Qiao. “Qiaoqiao, I just want to sleep beside you, not sleep with you. What were you thinking?”
Nan Qiao: “…”
It wasn’t her imagination—it was Li Yehan who acted too terrifying.
Li Yehan pulled Nan Qiao into his embrace. “Alright, sleep now.”
Nan Qiao, already exhausted, quickly fell asleep.
…
At five in the morning, Li Yehan woke up.
He gazed at Nan Qiao, still asleep, leaned down to kiss her forehead, then climbed out the window to leave.
He headed back to a nearby house.
Outside the door, Li Yehan saw a woman standing there, pressing the doorbell.
As he approached and saw who it was, his eyes turned icy cold.
Li Xia sensed someone behind her, turned around, and saw Li Yehan holding his coat, the collar slightly messy.
Li Yehan was disheveled early in the morning—where had he been?
Li Xia didn’t need to think too hard; she could already guess he had been at Nan Qiao’s place!
Li Xia put on an innocent smile and stepped forward by two steps.
She moved forward, and Li Yehan moved back.
Li Xia stopped in her tracks, intimidated from stepping closer.
“Brother Ye Han, I’m so happy you’re still willing to talk to me.”
Li Yehan said coldly and harshly, “You’re blocking my entrance. Otherwise, do you think I’d want to talk to you?”
Li Xia’s smile instantly vanished.
Li Yehan added, “Get out.”
Li Xia: “…”
Li Yehan remained as unfeeling and heartless as ever.
As Li Xia prepared to reply, Li Yehan stepped past her, opened the door, and shut it—executing the whole process in one seamless motion.
Without sparing her a glance, Li Yehan walked inside, leaving Li Xia outside shouting in vain.
Li Xia stood at the doorway, still unable to accept Li Yehan’s utter coldness.
“Li Yehan!” Li Xia dropped her pretense and yelled loudly outside the door.
“Miss, are you an owner in this building? You’re shouting here so early in the morning, you’ve startled the neighbor’s dog. The owner is furious and plans to sue you because his dog got frightened stupid.”
Li Xia turned her head and saw a security guard.
Li Xia snapped angrily, “I’m here for my brother—what does this have to do with the property owner?”
“It’s 5:10 AM. The noise you’re making violates our community rules and is disturbing other residents’ rest. If you have any complaints, take it up with the police.”
Li Xia: “…”
Already irate, Li Xia was further aggravated by the security guard, making her anger boil over.
“If people are so afraid of noise, they should buy a mansion! With enough land, no amount of yelling would disturb them!”
Fuming, Li Xia stormed off.
The security guard scratched his head. “Is she mentally unstable?”
…
Li Xia returned home and told Jiang Linyu what had happened.
“Li Yehan is just like before—impervious and heartless. Mom, no matter what I do, he still doesn’t care about me.”
Jiang Linyu mused, “I thought that now that Li Yehan is in a relationship, he’d have softened emotionally. But it turns out he’s still so much of a straight man.”
“Mom, why doesn’t he like me? What does Nan Qiao have that I don’t? Li Ye is practically invisible at work, and nobody dares support him. If we don’t win over Li Yehan now, what’s going to happen in the future?”
Li Xia was anxious and unsettled.
Jiang Linyu was deeply troubled too; their plans failing left her worried.
“Old Lu drove Ren Yongshi’s family out, and now he’s suing them over Hua Liuyun’s marital assets. One setback after another—it’s maddening.”
Jiang Linyu stood up and paced back and forth.
Ever since regaining her ability to walk, she made a point of walking excessively each day, terrified of ending up back in a wheelchair.
“Let’s do this, Xiaxia; listen to me…”
Jiang Linyu leaned in and whispered instructions into Li Xia’s ear.
After hearing the plan, Li Xia looked conflicted.
“Do we really need to do this? Is it even possible?”
Jiang Linyu patted her hand comfortingly. “Would I ever mislead you? Trust me—follow my instructions and you’ll surely win over Li Yehan.”
