The detective team, office of Team One, Yang Su and a few others were discussing the case.

Perhaps the burglary was the murderer’s intentional disguise—he wanted to use this method to cover his true motive, so I think we need to thoroughly investigate the deceased’s social network." Yang Su shook his head and said seriously.
"The group leader is right. Group leader, how do you suggest we start the investigation?" Xia Zheng asked.
Upon hearing Xia Zheng’s question, Yang Su furrowed his brows, deep in thought, then turned to Wang Lei and the others and asked, "What do you think? Where should we start the investigation?"
Instantly, Wang Lei and Xia Zheng looked at each other, unsure of what to suggest.
At this moment, Yang Su couldn’t help but miss Luo Fei; if Luo Fei were here, he’d likely offer some good advice.
Just as Yang Su was about to speak, his phone on the desk started ringing.
It was Zhao Donglai calling.
"Zhao, is there anything you need?" Yang Su inquired.
But the next moment, upon hearing Zhao Donglai’s words, Yang Su was stunned.
Luo Fei and his team had caught the murderer.
"Group leader, what did Zhao say? What’s the matter?" Wang Lei asked, seeing Yang Su frozen.
"Luo Fei and his team caught the murderer." Yang Su glanced at Wang Lei and the others and said plainly.
"This..." Wang Lei was dumbfounded, mouth slightly agape, his facial expression suddenly frozen.
"So quickly? Luo Fei solved the case again? Isn’t this too exaggerated? Why does it feel like Luo Fei is cracking all the cases in the detective team?" Xia Zheng expressed his disbelief.
Seeing his team members’ expressions, Yang Su wasn’t surprised at all.
On Luo Fei’s side, after confirming Cao Dong wasn’t the suspect, he immediately brought Lin Gang back to the detective team.
Team leader Zhao Donglai was waiting at the entrance of the team headquarters for Luo Fei to bring Lin Gang back.
Upon receiving Luo Fei’s call saying they caught the murderer, Zhao Donglai increasingly felt grateful for his wise decision to recruit Luo Fei from the police station to the detective team.
When Luo Fei brought Lin Gang back to the team, Zhao Donglai had Luo Fei interrogate Lin Gang immediately.
In the interrogation room
Lin Gang was handcuffed, his face displaying shock, finally realizing fear and dread as he was captured and brought into the interrogation room.
Luo Fei was in charge of the interrogation, with Sun Jun assisting by documenting.
"Speak. How did you kill Cheng Zhiyou?" Luo Fei asked sternly, his voice cold, seizing on Lin Gang’s panicked emotional state. He gave Lin Gang no chance to collect his thoughts, as Luo Fei decided to press on to break Lin Gang’s psychological defenses.
"I... I didn’t kill him. I only stole money; I didn’t kill him," Lin Gang stammered nervously.
"Lin Gang, I advise you to honestly confess. At this point, do you think denial is meaningful? If I were in your shoes, I’d focus on confessing proactively and seeking lenient treatment instead of making excuses," Luo Fei said coldly.
"I really only stole money, I really didn’t kill anyone," Lin Gang said, somewhat lacking confidence.
"Stealing money? Then what’s with the knife in your hand? Do you think we, the police, are fools?" Luo Fei scolded.
"That knife... that knife..." Lin Gang grasped for a reason, but he was so panicked that his mind went blank, unable to think of anything.
"That’s enough. Stop trying to deceive. We have concrete evidence. Denial is useless," Luo Fei interrupted loudly, cutting off Lin Gang.
Lin Gang was startled, his face growing increasingly pale.
Subsequently, Lin Gang hung his head and said dejectedly, "I’ll talk, I’ll tell you everything. Cheng Zhiyou is the one I killed. But I really didn’t plan on killing him; I was only trying to steal money. I don’t know why Cheng Zhiyou unexpectedly returned home, despite Cheng Wei saying he wouldn’t."
Then Lin Gang disclosed all the details of the case. On the night Cheng Zhiyou won the lottery and got a prize of one hundred thousand yuan, Cheng Wei, Lin Gang, and Cao Dong gathered for a celebration. During which, they discussed Cheng Wei’s father winning the prize. Lin Gang felt envious and jealous, wishing he’d won it himself. He even told Cheng Wei that if he’d won such money, he’d buy a car.
After the gathering ended, Lin Gang and Cao Dong parted ways with Cheng Wei to head home. Upon getting to Sun District and parting with Cao Dong, Lin Gang immediately received a call from Cheng Wei.
Cheng Wei told Lin Gang he was outside their neighborhood and had something to discuss. Without much thought, Lin Gang went out and met Cheng Wei at Sun District’s entrance.
Cheng Wei asked Lin Gang if he wanted to get rich. Lin Gang found it puzzling and thought Cheng Wei was joking. Of course, who wouldn’t want to be rich?
However, Cheng Wei then said his father had placed the prize money at home, suggesting Lin Gang steal it so they could split the money.
