Chapter 74: Chapter 74: Shiv - The Basketball Team Captain (Bonus Chapter)

At that moment, a tall boy in pant and shirt walked over with a confident smile on his face and greeted them.

"Priyanshi, I didn’t expect to see you here too at the market. What a coincidence," said the stranger his voice was pleasant to the ear.

Priyanshi looked up at the newcomer frowning slightly after recognising the stranger.

The boy in front of her was none other than her college time pursuer, Shiv, captain of their university basketball team of her year.

He has a height 189 m, broad-shouldered, with long limbs and a neatly styled haircut.

He had always carried himself with an air of confidence that brought inferiority on the people passing.

He was also the one who had been pursuing Priyanshi relentlessly before she ended things with him with a great, "No."

Yet seeing her again just like a shameless leech that refused to be ignored, Shiv flashed with what he thought was his most charming smile.

"I heard from classmates that you both have been doing internships lately? Is that True?

Especially you, Priyanshi someone told me a company hired you to work for a few months even before graduation. That’s really impressive.

Are you still interning there?"

Priyanshi’s expression tightened. "My work is not any of your business, stay out of it."

Not wanting the conversation to turn sour, Navya her friend, who was standing beside her stepped in to smooth things out.

"Priyanshi is currently working as a translator at Khapar Law Associates, and yes, she’s still interning but changed places. I’m also going interviewing for a position there soon."

At the mention of the firm’s name, Shiv’s eyes lit up as if he had stumbled upon an opportunity.

"Khapar Law Associates is a top-tier firm. Once they take up a case, I heard their record is nearly flawless.

And they are widely known for looking for people with strong English skills, no beginners allowed in their field of work."

Navya nodded. "Exactly. They’ve expanded into international cases, so they are keen on graduates with a background in strong English language for better communications."

Shiv smirked. "Priyanshi must have been really capable to fought her way through to land that spot as an intern."

"Yes, Even I have to clear the first three rounds myself. If I pass the final interview too, which I am sure I will, I will be joining as an intern soon," Navya added in between.

"The competition must be brutal," Shiv replied.

"It is," Navya admitted with a dramatic sigh. "It’s tough to land a good job in today’s world after all."

Priyanshi couldn’t help but sigh as well, it is not really easy for her at that time, there was no one as her backer, she has come this far on her own.

Though their university was among the top in the country, graduates from other prestigious colleges were also vying for the same positions in the Firm.

Landing an offer from Khapar Law Associates was notoriously difficult.

"Hee, hee."

A smile tugged at the corner of Shiv’s lips.

When he looked at Priyanshi, there was a strange glint in his eyes determination, eagerness, and the feeling that his moment is finally going to arrive.

He knew it.

This was his chance.

Ever since freshman year, he had carried a quiet obsession with her.

For him Priyanshi was not just another girl in the Law department, she was a true first-class beauty.

Everyone agreed she was the most beautiful student in their year.

But beauty was not all she had.

She carried herself with a natural elegance that set her apart from everyone else.

And then, during the school’s anniversary celebration, she performed a song, her voice so clear and ethereal that it seemed to enchant the entire hall and his heart too.

Every boy in the audience fell under her spell.

One after another, they had tried to win her heart.

One after another, they were rejected.

Shiv was among them.

His confession, just like all the others, had been turned down without hesitation.

But unlike the rest, he did not let it go.

He doubled down his efforts to woo her trying every trick he knew to get close to her.

Yet, no matter how hard he tried, she only responded with polite indifference to her advances.

It stung at her heart.

It made him restless.

And now, now he thought fate had handed him a chance to turn things around.

Because his father had just bought him a graduation gift: a sleek, black Mercedes-Benz.

It was perfect.

The timing.

The car.

Everything.

Today, he will show her for sure that he was not just another nameless boy.

Putting on his most casual smile, he asked, "You’re heading to the Khapar Law Firm office for your internship later, right?

I drove here, why don’t, I give you a lift?"

.....

They all came to the car parking after buying the fruits.

"Wow," Navya exclaimed at the sight of Mercedes-Benz. "Not only did you have a car already before graduation? But a Mercedes-Benz at that, Your family must be doing really well, Shiv."

Shiv face bloomed at that compliment.

Yes, praise more, I like that.

Priyanshi, however, frowned slightly.

She could already sense what Shiv was trying to do, and she disliked how blatantly he was showing off his new car.

Unbothered by the look on Priyanshi face, Shiv leaned onto his car.

"It’s a graduation gift from my dad. Cost him about 400 grand. I thought it was a little over the top, but he said it was fine as long as I liked it.

Honestly, he’s always been that good to me."

He let out a sigh, though the smugness in his tone betrayed him.

Four years of waiting.

Four years of trying and failing.

Finally—was this the moment he’d been waiting for?

What they didn’t know was that Shiv had begged and pleaded for weeks until his father finally gave in and fulfilled his wish for the car.

Sigh.. It’s not really easy being a Father.
