Chapter 82: Chapter 81: Review Papers, the Midterm Exam Begins
Isabella Xyler showed her adorable dimples, "Pom-Pom, do I really hold such a high regard in Olivia’s heart?"
Claire Green stared for a few seconds, a smirk lacing her eyes, "Nope, Pom-Pom’s just a little dumb."
"Hahaha."
John Sinclair and Sebastian Winn burst out laughing, feeling instantly balanced in their hearts.
Isabella Xyler’s smile froze, then she pouted disgruntledly at Claire Green.
"Oh, you guys are quite the lively bunch."
Just then, a warm voice chimed in playfully.
Isabella turned her head and saw Lawrence White standing by her desk with a stack of papers, looking at them with a faint smile.
"Whitey, what brings you here."
John Sinclair stretched lazily, speaking casually.
"It’s almost the midterm exam. I’m here to give Claire Green some papers to review."
Lawrence White shook the papers in his hand and placed them on someone’s desk.
These were papers he had compiled over the last couple of days, all annotated. Hopefully, they would be useful.
Claire Green lowered her eyes, slowly flipping through the papers, a soft laugh escaping, "Whitey does think of me."
At these words.
Lawrence White remained as gentle as a spring breeze, "You’re my student, it’s my duty to help you."
Claire Green looked up, her gaze slow and restrained at him for a few seconds, "Alright, I’ll take the papers."
"Do well in the exam," even though you’ll lose in the end, at least you’ve made an effort.
Lawrence White’s words circled in his mouth and finally, he just said three simple words.
...
"Olivia, you’d better seriously look at these papers," once Lawrence White left, Sebastian Winn immediately urged, glancing at her.
John Sinclair puckered his mouth, "I’ll bet a dollar that Olivia absolutely won’t look at them."
Claire Green raised an eyebrow, chuckling lightly, "You know me well, you guys take the papers and have a good look."
After saying that.
She distributed the papers on the desk to each one of them.
The trio looked bewildered holding the papers, weren’t they for you to review? We don’t need them.
Isabella Xyler still tried to salvage the situation, "Olivia, I feel like I don’t need these, considering my grades."
"Oh, really?" Claire Green’s lips curved into a smile, "I think you do."
Under her relaxed gaze, Isabella just felt a sense of danger and swallowed the rest of her words, immediately agreeing.
"You’re right, I definitely need them."
John Sinclair rolled his eyes, thinking Isabella had no principles at all.
"Now, go look at them!" Claire Green blinked lazily, scanning the room, saying softly.
Then, the three of them saw her lean back in her chair, long legs crossed on the desk edge.
The pose was lazy yet boss-like.
The familiar game sounds also emanated from her phone.
"Olivia really isn’t worried at all," John Sinclair muttered to himself, then lowered his head to look at the papers.
...
A week later, the midterm exams arrived as scheduled.
"Olivia, you got this," John Sinclair spent a long time thinking about what to say, finally clenching his fist in an encouraging gesture.
Claire Green, with a lazy tone, coolly said, "Idiot."
John Sinclair’s mouth twitched in response.
Olivia was being unfriendly.
It’s funny how they ended up seated together for this exam, just like the last one.
Even Isabella Xyler couldn’t help but tease, "Are you planning to be exam buddies till graduation?"
"Watch your words," Sebastian Winn’s voice was bright, "We call this ’sharing ups and downs’."
"Haha," Isabella burst out laughing.
As if!
John Sinclair had a forced smile as he glared at her, "Haven’t you gone to the exam hall yet?"
Isabella stuck her tongue out playfully at him, then hugged Claire Green, gentle and soft, "Sharing my luck with you, Olivia, do well on the test."
After speaking.
She stepped back, grabbed her stationery from the desk, and walked briskly out of the classroom.
The envy in John Sinclair’s eyes was fleeting as he sourly commented, "How come neither I nor fatty get hugs, guess we don’t need luck."
At these words.
Claire Green looked at him meaningfully, making John Sinclair feel a chill in his heart.
What did Olivia’s gaze mean?
And then.
He heard Claire Green’s clear voice teasingly say.
"If you want a hug, just say it, it’s not too late to go out and get one."
John Sinclair felt embarrassed as his thoughts were exposed.
He touched his nose, stubbornly saying, "I don’t want one, just grumbling because of her biased treatment."
Sebastian Winn gave him a knowing look, patting his shoulder, everything understood without words.
...
The teacher monitoring the Chinese exam stood at the podium, curiously watching Claire Green in the last row.
The whole school knew about her bet with Class 1, wondering if her grades had improved during this time.
Thinking this, the teacher involuntarily walked over to Claire Green’s side, looking down, and was stunned for a moment.
It was actually written out, and all correct.
Until the exam ended, the teacher was still a bit dazed.
She must be joking!
How quickly had her progress been made?
The reaction was seen by the students in the exam hall, sparking curiosity as they wondered what Claire Green had done to cause such surprise.
Over the period, they noticed all the invigilators displaying the same astonished expressions after seeing Claire Green’s paper.
For a moment, while everyone was working on their tests, they felt itchy with curiosity, wishing to throw away their paper and go see.
As the last exam ended, everyone breathed a sigh of relief whilst focusing on the person at the back.
John Sinclair and Sebastian Winn couldn’t hold back any longer and immediately huddled in front of Claire Green, smiling fawningly.
Claire Green wore a tired expression, her voice hoarse, "What’s up?"
"Olivia, can you describe the invigilators’ expressions?" Sebastian Winn leaned on the desk, asking.
"Probably because it’s all correct," Claire Green boldly stated.
At those words.
Sebastian Winn and John Sinclair froze in place.
Why did that sound familiar?
Upon thinking again, they realized, oh wow, it was just like last time when she came first in class.
John Sinclair stroked his chin, "Olivia, let’s tone it down a bit. You might as well just say you got first."
Suddenly.
Claire Green’s eyes offered a neutral gaze for a few seconds, a vague chuckle escaping her throat.
"Alright, first then."
John Sinclair was at a loss for words, unable to describe his feeling.
Big shots will always be big shots.
Even boasting comes without taking a breath.
"What are you guys chatting about?"
Isabella Xyler patted his shoulder, curiously leaning in.
"Chatting about whether your good luck could get Olivia an all-correct paper," John Sinclair muttered in a semi-joking manner.
Who would have thought.
Isabella touched her head, thinking for a moment before happily saying, "Though it’s not all-correct, she definitely got a good score."
"Tch," John Sinclair let out a dismissive sound, "You might as well not say it."
Claire Green watched the two amusingly, then pulled her school blazer from the desk, covering her head as she lay down and fell asleep.
Her series of actions led Sebastian to click his tongue in admiration, "Olivia’s truly calm, she’s even dozed off."
Now all they could hope for was Rae Zander to have an off day.
...
Because of the bet, the teachers started grading the midterm exam papers overnight.
Suddenly.
The teacher responsible for the Chinese exam cried out, "There’s a perfect score!"
Hearing this, the other teachers were skeptical.
"How can you get a perfect score in Chinese?"
"She didn’t lose any points on her essay, really?"
"What’s her name?"
The teacher pushed up his glasses, "It really is a perfect score, the essay had no deductive points whatsoever," he said, glancing at the student’s name, instantly stunned.
The others, seeing this, grew curious and urged him, "Come on, tell us!"
He snapped out of it, dumbfounded, "Claire Green."
