Jun Yelan stared at the painting, which depicted him with a slight smile just moments ago. Every stroke showed care, as if he could feel the artist's emotions poured into it.
He couldn't help but look away. This couldn't possibly be Lan Yan's work!
Lan Yan immediately crouched down, collecting the painting, and gave an embarrassed smile. "I just drew it casually, I didn't capture your true essence." Seeing Jun Yelan remain silent, she breathed a sigh of relief and went to put the painting in a nearby cabinet.
Jun Yelan, watching her retreating back, a flicker of astonishment in his eyes, asked, "Did you really draw this?"
Lan Yan: "..." Did she draw it so poorly that Jun Yelan couldn't believe she was the artist? Facing away, she couldn't see his expression and replied, "I'll draw better next time."
She closed the cabinet and turned to see Jun Yelan still standing in place. "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell again?" She moved closer, and this time Jun Yelan didn't pull away.
Still somewhat shocked, Jun Yelan instinctively stepped back as Lan Yan approached. "It's nothing, I'm going to rest." He turned and walked towards the bed.
Lan Yan, left standing there, watched him leave and sighed, "What a shame, I thought he wasn't avoiding me anymore." She let out another sigh and headed for the nearby couch to sleep.
Night fell, and the room fell silent.
In the darkness, a pair of eyes opened. Jun Yelan gazed at Lan Yan beside him, his confusion growing. "Who exactly are you, and why are you trying so hard to be good to me?"
He looked up at the bed curtains, unable to sleep the entire night.
The next morning, Lan Yan woke up and saw Jun Yelan was still asleep, unlike his usual habit. She walked over and, hearing his even breathing, finally relaxed.
Then she went out and said to Chun Tao, "Warm up the pastries I brought back last night for breakfast. Jun Yelan's health has improved significantly, so he needs to eat well now."
"Take out all the good things from the storeroom and cook a bowl every day."
"Yes, Miss." Chun Tao was no longer surprised; she simply obeyed her mistress's instructions.
Lan Yan nodded and went for a run in the courtyard.
After Chun Tao heated the pastries, she arranged them on the table. She saw Jun Yelan emerge and said, "Young Master Jun, this is the breakfast Miss ordered this morning, along with this bowl of tonic. This servant will take her leave."
She walked towards the door, then paused, remembering something. "Those pastries were made by Miss herself yesterday." With that, she withdrew.
Jun Yelan was left alone, staring at the pastries on the plate. He thought of the painting from last night, sat down, and picked up a white pastry shaped like a rabbit.
He took a bite; it was sweet but not cloying.
He then ate a second one. kuAiδugg
When Lan Yan entered, she saw Jun Yelan eating her pastries, a slight smile on his lips. The system's method was indeed effective. She sat down too, and seeing Jun Yelan's expression unchanged, she also ate one.
"It's a pity they're not freshly baked, otherwise they'd be even tastier," she said, her cheeks puffed out.
Jun Yelan looked at her, seeing her without her usual ferocity, displaying a touch of girlish charm. He suddenly realized Lan Yan was just a sixteen-year-old girl, albeit with a terrible disposition.
Being stared at, Lan Yan swallowed the last bite and asked, "What is it? Are they delicious?"
Jun Yelan looked at her again, at her sly and bright eyes, and was momentarily slow to respond.
