Chapter 303: Chapter 303 Thorough Inspection (Seeking Subscription)
The soft breathing, the tender body, the teasing tone—all of it stirred Pei Yan’s heart. After a shiver ran through his body, he pushed Fu Rui away with a smirk and coughed twice, saying, "Right now, I’m only concerned about my sister’s safety. Besides, even if there was something good like that, this isn’t the place for it."
Seeing this, Fu Rui exchanged a knowing glance with Du Guangyuan. From Pei Yan’s heavy breathing earlier, they already had a grasp of the situation. What young man doesn’t love having a soft and fragrant beauty in his arms, especially after being cooped up for a year in an investigation office, he probably had been holding it in for too long.
Desire is good; the organization Shenyu never fears desire, only the lack thereof. As the saying goes, "If you have no desires, you are rigid." As long as you have desires, it indicates weaknesses. People with weaknesses are easily controlled.
Thinking of this, Pei Rui looked at Pei Yanzi, whose face was still flushed, and moved closer, giggling, "What are you thinking, little rascal? I’m just here to remove the disguise mark on you. But if you want, I can keep you company afterward."
"Disguise mark?" Pei Yan wasn’t interested in the latter half of Fu Rui’s words. He looked down at his chest in confusion, then with a sudden realization, he said, "Oh." He finally remembered that Ye Jiumu had mentioned at the dinner table about the hidden tracking mark in the disguise mark. He looked up at Fu Rui and teased, "I didn’t expect you guys from Shenyu to know so much about the investigation office. So, how do you plan to remove this mark?"
"We have our own methods, but it will be a bit painful. Are you ready?" Du Guangyuan chimed in.
"Ready, go ahead!" Pei Yan nodded thoughtfully, agreeing. He understood that these people wouldn’t be at ease until they thoroughly checked him inside and out.
Seeing Pei Yan’s agreement, Du Guangyuan signaled Wang Yiyi and Fu Rui. He moved behind Pei Yan and activated his ability to coagulate blood, binding his arms. Before he could react, Fu Rui quickly pulled out a small bottle from her bosom and poured four or five wriggling white worms onto Pei Yan’s chest under his astonished gaze. Then Wang Yiyi pressed a large bowl directly over them.
Feeling the cold sensation of worms wriggling on his chest, Pei Yan shouted, "What are you doing? What are those things?"
"Don’t worry, we won’t hurt you. You must believe in your own value. Our boss treasures you greatly," Fu Rui said, lightly tracing her finger along the edge of the bowl held by Wang Yiyi. She smiled, "Next, it might be a bit painful, so bear with it!"
As soon as the words were out, Pei Yan felt a sharp pain in his chest. Those few worms suddenly heated up, creating a strong burning sensation like a firebrand dragging across his skin.
"Impressive, young man, not even a whimper from such pain?" Du Guangyuan, expecting Pei Yan to make a fool of himself from pain, was genuinely impressed when he just slightly trembled but didn’t struggle further.
"I’ve endured things a hundred times more painful than this. This is nothing," Pei Yan exclaimed, trying to laugh through the discomfort. Indeed, the burning sensation on his chest was trivial compared to the previous injuries he had suffered.
Five minutes later, Wang Yiyi removed the large bowl from Pei Yan’s chest, and four or five dead, blackened worms fell to the ground. Pei Yan looked down to see where the disguise mark was inscribed, now a bloody mess with over a dozen deep charred scars.
Seeing Pei Yan displeased because his self-healing ability, slowed by the confinement ring, wasn’t functioning, Fu Rui applied a simple burn ointment to him while comforting, "Just endure it a bit longer. When we reach the base, there will be a professional healer to treat you."
"Enough! Can we go see my sister now?" Pei Yan, unfazed, abruptly pushed Fu Rui’s hand aside, his face cold as water.
Du Guangyuan, who was undoing the binding, crouched down to set up the Temporary Teleportation Array, responding casually, "We’ll have to wait a moment longer."
"Wait a moment longer for what?" Pei Yan turned his head, visibly displeased.
"You need to be transferred once more, where you’ll undergo high-tech equipment monitoring. Only after it’s proven that there’s no high-tech tracking device on you will we take you to see your sister."
Listening to Wang Yiyi’s explanation, Pei Yan wryly added, "You all sure are cautious."
"Better safe than sorry, especially after you exposed our ambush, causing us significant losses," Du Guangyuan replied.
Listening to Du Guangyuan, Pei Yan crouched down, looking at him with interest, "Oh, you know about it? Don’t you hate me?"
"Hate you for what? For setting up Zhao Liben and Wang Xishu?" Du Guangyuan and his group found their own comment amusing, laughing uncontrollably.
"We knew the worst outcome we could face before even launching the attack. Escaping is our own skill, but if we’re unable to escape, it’s their own stupidity!" Fu Rui said, placing her hand on Pei Yan’s shoulder. Smiling, she advised, "Since you’re joining Shenyu, as a senior, I’m kindly reminding you, whatever ideas about task priority and valuing lives you had in the investigation hall, discard them as far away as possible. In Shenyu, you live only for yourself, understand?"
"You talk so fancily, but aren’t you forced into carrying out these dangerous tasks?" Pei Yan mocked, tilting his head.
Wang Yiyi responded, putting his hands behind his head, "Can’t help it, they call it ’eating their food with a tied-up mouth and hands.’ But when it comes down to it, deciding if the task is more important than one’s life is your choice to make."
"Alright, enough nonsense. The teleportation array is set up. Let’s move quickly before the investigation hall catches up and this place becomes unsafe," Du Guangyuan clapped his hands, interrupting the conversation, urging them on.
Pei Yan said nothing more and stepped directly into the teleportation array. A flash of light later, their figures vanished.
Within the temporarily set-up investigation hall headquarters at the unit, Gu Shenghui and Elder Lin encountered Yuan Shaoqing’s group just as they returned to the camp, turning together into Mei Simiao’s ward.
"What’s the situation?" Gu Shenghui asked, frowning.
Yuan Shaoqing reported with a stern face, "Just as expected, the tracking mark on Pei Yan disappeared ten minutes ago."
"Where did it last disappear?" Mei Simiao, sitting in a wheelchair, asked urgently.
Listening to Yuan Shaoqing name a third-tier city in Jiangnan, Gu Shenghui sneered, "In the Jiangsu-Zhejiang area? Far from Sichuan, making a huge detour. Even now they’re throwing out smoke screens. These guys are certainly cautious. Have any other surveillance measures on Pei Yan been removed?"
"Not yet, the intelligence department is still monitoring. We injected two nano-tracking devices into him, but I..." Before Yuan Shaoqing could finish, his vibrating phone interrupted. After checking his messages, he shook his head, sighing, "Those devices were removed two minutes ago."
