Chapter 302: Chapter 302 Foreplay (Subscription Request)
As Fu Rui’s large red curtain descended from the heavens and gradually obscured Pei Yan’s vision, his heart sank deeper and deeper. He had no time to ponder whether he had successfully deceived the opponent; he was more concerned about Xia Yu’s safety.
Leaving Xia Yu to perform the final act was a meticulously considered decision by the department. Everything, from the confrontation with the Shenyu visitors to being hurt by Pei Yan, was calculated. Only by creating a sense of urgency could the enemy be forced not to care about the authenticity of the corpses. A truly skilled investigator being seriously injured before them would utterly dispel any doubts.
This was something Jiang Feiyang’s abilities couldn’t achieve. Although he forcibly transformed soldiers to resemble humans with the equipment department’s help, he still couldn’t perform supernatural abilities as authentically as the originals. Pretending to be a corpse was already his limit.
Combined with Xia Yu’s superior self-healing ability and Pei Yan’s precise calculation to minimize damage, only such a combination could conclude the scene perfectly. Even so, Pei Yan was worried about Xia Yu’s safety; despite controlling the power to merely pierce the skin, how could it end up penetrating her body directly?
Looking at Pei Yan’s complex expression as he lowered his head silently, under the red curtain, Wang Yiyi smiled teasingly, "I didn’t expect you to be so ruthless to your former companions. Tsk, tsk, tsk, one had a broken leg, and the other was pierced through the waist without the slightest sense of mercy."
"Isn’t this what you all hoped for? Shut up and leave here quickly before I change my mind." Pei Yan looked up with a gaze full of hatred and disdain, urging coldly.
Seeing this, Wang Yiyi knew the other’s emotions were fluctuating and that it was unwise to provoke him further. He had to retreat, shrugging his shoulders, signaling Fu Rui to activate the ability to transfer everyone.
Five minutes after the group of four disappeared wrapped in the large red cloth, police cars and ambulances sped by, and soon the entire scene was cordoned off. The core area was layered with protective arrays, forbidding any unrelated persons from entering.
Gu Shenghui’s face was gloomy as water, and Elder Lin looked extremely uncomfortable. After ordering the team previously frightened by this sudden tragedy to take away the squad that captured the Devouring Demon for questioning, they entered the center of the battlefield where everything had been cleared. All scattered corpse fragments were thoroughly checked by the Three Pristine Department, placed in body bags, and securely guarded before being transferred out.
The team members who had previously hidden in the Jiezhi Space now emerged, gathering around Elder Lin as he checked Xia Yu’s injuries. Ye Jiumu looked at the sweaty Xia Yu, grumbling discontentedly, "Pei Yan is really ruthless, Elder Lin, Xia Yu wouldn’t be in trouble, right?"
Before Elder Lin could speak, Xia Yu shifted her body and spoke first, "I’m fine! The wound in the abdomen, Pei Yan had already controlled the strength. It looks serious, but it was actually self-inflicted."
"Are you crazy!" Ye Jiumu bent down, helping her wipe the continuously seeping sweat, reprimanding.
"Don’t worry, with me here, she won’t have any issues. Hold her down!" As Elder Lin spoke, his hands moved quickly, swiftly pulling out the spear lodged in Xia Yu’s abdomen. As the spear withdrew, releasing a stream of blood, Xia Yu’s body couldn’t help but convulse severely from the pain. Ye Jiumu quickly held her down as Elder Lin’s inner source began to heal her wound.
"Oh, is this the benefit after conversion? Even the speed of wound healing is much faster than before?" Elder Lin looked down at Xia Yu’s wound, witnessing the rapid healing effect thanks to his ability combined with her self-healing effect, commenting sincerely.
"Xia Yu’s actions, though risky, completely dispelled the enemy’s doubts. Our opening act is complete. Now it’s up to Pei Yan to continue the play."
Listening to Gu Shenghui’s words, Wang Wenze, sitting on the ground smoking, looked up and asked, "Gu Chu, so what do we do next?"
"Soon, someone will secretly send you out. Before the mission begins, you are deemed deceased, except for Xia Yu. You must not contact the outside world or expose your whereabouts."
Liang Qian sighed upon hearing this, "So we can’t inform other members of the team either?"
"That’s right, we can’t. Everything that happened here is top secret until the mission begins." Gu Shenghui refused sternly.
Although knowing the outcome was inevitable, after hearing the definite answer, Liang Qian leaned against the car door, sighed, "Ah, hearing this news, Buli will be stricken with sorrow."
While Elder Lin handled the aftermath at the investigation office, Pei Yan was also enduring great pain. After Fu Rui activated her ability, and the group vanished in a flash of red light, Pei Yan regained consciousness to find himself in a vast, old warehouse.
"Is this your hideout? Where’s my sister? Has Shenyu fallen to such a state?" Pei Yan glanced around, the musty air forcing him to cover his nose, as he kicked an empty bottle left by some vagrant, mocking.
"Mr. Pei, you don’t think we’ll take you back to headquarters without any inspections, do you?" Du Guangyuan looked at the young man before him, laughing.
Pei Yan raised his eyebrows, tilting his neck and counter-questioning, "What do you mean?"
"It’s nothing else. Mr. Pei’s abilities have been heard of before you came; your existence is practically a mobile signal transmitter, for security reasons." Wang Yiyi said, as he fished out three confinement rings from his spatial ring and shook them in his hand, "It’s better to temporarily confine your abilities, is it not, Mr. Pei?"
"What opinions can I have? You’ve severed all routes. Bring it on; I just hope you keep your promise." Pei Yan snorted coldly, helplessly shaking his head as he raised his hands with a bitter smile.
Wang Yiyi fitted the confinement rings on Pei Yan, beaming, "Rest assured, our Shenyu always keeps its promises!"
Experiencing the humiliation of having his abilities restrained once more, yet forced to maintain a façade of cheerfulness, Pei Yan’s heart simmered with resentment. After Wang Yiyi completed all this, he grumbled, "Alright now?"
"Still need to wait!" Fu Rui chimed in from the side, as she approached, slowly reaching into Pei Yan’s collar, undoing his shirt button by button.
"Hey, hey, hey! What does this mean? A honey trap?" Feeling her soft, boneless skin brush past his chest, Pei Yan felt an urge rise as his body leaned back questioning.
"Hehe!" Fu Rui laughed charmingly, her seductive eyes provoking Pei Yan with a glance, as she fell into his arms, whispering by his ear, "If it is a honey trap, can you withstand it?"
