Chapter 802: Stopping the Battle
"Let’s stop this." Clovis raised his hand.
"!!!" Brian was startled, but he didn’t stop. He smashed Clovis from above while shouting, "Do you think people will stop just because you say so?"
Clovis jumped away, but Brian chased after him. When Brian was about to punch him one more time, a shout suddenly came from another direction. "Watch out."
Brian shifted his gaze to the side and found Jay and Erwin almost reaching him, with Eid and Nart following behind.
"Kh." Brian raised both arms and twisted his body. However, Jay utilized all his strength and even his beast soul, while Erwin punched Brian’s stomach. Even Eid and Nart didn’t expect that Jay and Erwin would suddenly turn around and aim for Brian instead.
Still, they followed closely. The moment Jay and Erwin attacked Brian, they also attacked them.
Unfortunately for them, Aileen’s presence could finally be sensed again.
"Tsk." Eid turned around and slashed at the presence, but that slash was blocked by a dagger. At the same time, Nart swung his sword, dividing that slash into two.
Yet, Clovis’ sword caught both of them and knocked Nart down.
The situation changed completely. With Brian getting injured, they would have a hard time winning, but why would Jay and Erwin suddenly turn around?
The answer was Melody. She obviously transmitted everything from Clovis.
The moment they heard Clovis wanting to end this fight, they tried to regroup with him. They just handled the opponent’s reaction accordingly.
"You bastard." Eid gritted his teeth. As one of the direct disciples, this was the first time he had been humiliated like this.
"This is annoying. They don’t even realize the game is already over." Clovis sighed while taking out his Skyphone. It had been vibrating the whole time. Obviously, the caller was none other than Rin.
"What did you say?" Eid raised his sword, planning to cut him this time.
Jay, Erwin, and Aileen immediately raised their stances, getting ready to fight them.
Clovis, on the other hand, picked up the call.
Rin’s annoyed voice instantly came out. "How long are you going to make me wait just for a single phone call? I’ve told you to treat me as a chef, not your errand girl!"
"Ahahaha. So, have you gotten it?"
"Yeah. Everything has been settled." Rin clicked her tongue. "You’d better pay me overtime for this."
"I know, I know. There is an ice cream you might be curious about."
"Fine. I have sent everything to your phone. Just show it to the staff, and it will be processed immediately."
"Thank you." Clovis smirked. "Let’s go back. The mission is over."
"!!!" Eid and Nart widened their eyes in shock. They were originally meant to stop Jay and the others until their team managed to clear the mission. If they somehow secured it, they could trade it for the information from Clovis’ team.
However, it looked like Clovis was one step ahead. There was one more member who had been helping them, and they didn’t know about her. In fact, they didn’t even know Clovis was already in the city.
This was a massive blunder. In addition, the strength Clovis showed earlier was beyond his level. If they truly had an all-out brawl, even if they could win, they would pay a huge price.
Clovis raised one finger. "So, why don’t we go back together? I know what you’re planning. Rather than negotiating with a knife at each other’s throats, why not do it during the meal?"
Eid, still hot-blooded, wanted to reject the idea, but it looked like Nart was able to regain his composure much faster.
"Let’s do that!" Nart raised his hand, blocking Eid.
"Young Master?" Brian widened his eyes in shock.
"Nart!" Eid glared at him.
"Look at the situation, Eid. Even if we are able to win this, we will have a bigger problem ahead. The information is in his hands. If he brings it back... no, if he just sends this information to his team in the association, he doesn’t even need us to stop because the mission is already over.
"However, the fact that he’s planning to open a negotiation table..." Nart squinted his eyes, observing Clovis. "What are you planning to do?"
Clovis smiled but didn’t say anything.
"Tsk." Nart clicked his tongue. He really didn’t plan to reveal anything.
Clovis simply walked away in the direction of the association. It was clearly not a bluff. If he just used this chance to buy time, he could do other tricks to be in a better position.
"What are they doing?" Stefany and Vina were stupefied. They had heard everything, so the conclusion was confusing.
Vina wanted Clovis to give her the information right now so that she could finish the battle.
On the other hand, Stefany was trying to figure out Clovis’ scheme. She might have to send out other agents to find the information.
In fact, what exactly did they have to find?
While walking back, Clovis grabbed some bottles from the plastic bags and a bag of skewers and offered them to Nart. "Want some?"
Nart frowned. "Are you going to poison us?"
"Do I even need to? Well, if you don’t want them, we’ll be the ones to eat them." Clovis shrugged.
"Jay, Erwin. Get some. They’re delicious."
"Really?" Erwin raised his eyebrows. "When did you arrive in the city? And what have you been up to, Captain?"
"I am getting a chef, of course." Clovis shrugged. "Don’t you know a man known as the master of all ingredients?"
"Huh? I don’t think there are a lot of people who don’t know about them." Erwin tilted his head in confusion.
"I got this from him. Since they don’t want it, let’s share it with—!" Clovis stopped when a pair of hands snatched the bag of skewers from his hands. Clovis turned around and found that Nart was the culprit. He had even put one skewer in his mouth. "Hey..."
"I only asked if it’s poisoned or not, not saying I’m rejecting it."
"Nart!" Eid also glared at Nart, as he couldn’t believe what Nart had done.
It looked like the name was so famous that even Nart had recognized it and hadn’t even hesitated to snatch it from him.
Clovis chuckled as if everything had gone according to his plan. Clovis asked, "Say... Why are you fighting with us?"
