Chapter 119: 84. Still need to come together

As soon as she heard the voice, it was a different story for others, but S’s arrogance quickly diminished, transforming from a ferocious tiger to a delicate kitten. With a "meow," she abandoned the crowd and rushed directly to the door: "Professor, what brings you here?"

She said this while flipping her long hair and standing on tiptoe on one side: "Could it be, the professor came to see me?"

His gaze, however, passed directly over S’s face and calmly settled on Shi Nian.

Shi Nian felt a strange itch in her throat and quickly lowered her head.

Wondering whether it was because she’d been talking too much earlier, straining her voice.

Only then did Tang Yanqing casually shift his attention and turned towards Sean: "Hi, I’m Prof. T, the department office should have briefed you in advance."

Sean hurriedly extended his hand to shake Tang Yanqing’s: "So Professor T has arrived. You’re so young, I mistook you for a student. Apologies for the oversight."

Seeing their hands clasped together, Shi Nian’s heart nearly stopped.

They had originally met at the scene of Zhou Guanghan’s murder. Shi Nian was very worried that Sean might recognize Tang Yanqing.

However, Sean’s reaction was very normal, without a trace of suspicion in his micro-expressions.

Tang Yanqing humbly said: "I decided on a whim to move in, hope it’s not a bother to you all."

Sean led Tang Yanqing to the room next to Zhong Kui’s.

is a four-room suite, with Shi Nian and Spicy Girl in one, S and Marina in the second, Zhong Kui and Jack in the third. Shi Nian had never seen anyone from the fourth room and thought it was temporarily vacant, only to find out it was always empty.

The roommates were somewhat surprised: "We didn’t expect the professor would choose to become our roommate!"

S’s face was bright with sunshine; standing at the door peering inside, she was so delighted she seemed to have completely forgotten about the diamond necklace.

University dormitories are standardized with existing furniture and mattresses, needing only some soft furnishings. Thus, after a short while, Tang Yanqing came out of the room. Glancing at S who still lingered and peered inside, he deliberately turned and closed the door.

The suite was bustling that night; teachers and students passing in the corridor all looked inside.

Tang Yanqing casually put his hands in his pants pockets and looked at Sean: "Though I don’t mind our dorm becoming the focus of the whole apartment, if the reason for it is just treating a minuscule matter as a major mystery, then I think it’s unnecessary."

"Sean, could you wrap it up in fifteen minutes, so everyone can disperse?"

Sean was taken aback: "Fifteen minutes? Wrap up?"

Tang Yanqing laughed: "Sean, you’re too modest. You don’t actually need fifteen minutes, you’ve already given the answer earlier."

Sean recalled what he had said before, hesitating: "...Three times lost over two years?"

Tang Yanqing laughed, leaning in to whisper in Sean’s ear: "Where were those three times found? You can still find it in similar places tonight."

Sean headed straight to S’s room, standing between the wardrobe and the bookcase.

Everyone curiously followed, Shi Nian lagging behind. Tang Yanqing leisurely approached her and whispered: "From Sean’s current position, can you guess where those three times were found?"

Shi Nian quietly took a deep breath: "Two are clear: wardrobe, bookcase. But the third, I haven’t figured it out yet."

He tucked his hand in his pocket and nodded casually: "You guessed this from Sean’s position; why not try a different perspective—think from the perspective of the person hiding things: why would they choose the wardrobe and the bookcase?"

Isn’t it because wardrobes and bookcases are the most common places in university dorms?

Almost blurting it out, but Shi Nian restrained herself and thought deeper.

"Because wardrobes contain clothes, and bookcases hold paper products. What they have in common, apart from both being cabinets, possessing a certain level of confidentiality, and commonly found in dorms, is that they are clean and organized inside, with a smooth or soft texture, thus preventing any dirt or damage to the diamond."

Tang Yanqing laughed, his gaze flashing with approval.

Though university dorms have wardrobes and bookcases, the facilities are not only those two. At least there’s also the bathroom and hidden corners like under beds. Those places might actually be more concealed for hiding things—but the person hiding them chose not to use those places because they’re either wet or dirty, which could damage the diamond necklace.
