Chapter 113: His Guest!
Stepping into his home, Hiroshi was quick to notice the new things placed in the room. They were not there when he left and even his father didn’t know his password and the cleaning lady couldn’t be the person.
Haruki.
The sound of that name caused his heart to race. He was exhausted but more than anything he wanted to see the face of the man he loved. He had taken time to find out the best way to have cyber-sex just in time for Haruki to quit answering his phone calls.
He wanted to tell Haruki the night he called to inform him of the extension of his leave but Haruki had hung up before he got the chance to tell the man that his prolonged stay did not mean the end of their contracted relationship.
After several times of having his calls go unanswered, Hiroshi could not ease the feeling that he might have lost his opportunity to be with Haruki in this lifetime.
If he goes to find Haruki only to discover the man had replaced him, he knew there was no way he would be able to get over the man just like how he had given up so much of his principles to be with the man.
He would most likely grovel before the man until he was forgiven and welcomed back into his arms. He tried not to overthink things. He had to resume work on Monday and the weekend seemed to be the only time he would have to fully pursue Haruki uninterruptedly.
However there was no way he would have stayed calmly while knowing his brother was sick. Aki was back in the country with his father. He had enough emotional support and he could finally feel assured of his safety.
It took Aki a while to clear things up in the country before he could leave. He had a lot to settle both in his private life and his work. He also took the opportunity to handle some of his private affairs with the firm handling his assets.
He went into his bathroom and everywhere in the house seemed to have been marked with Haruki’s presence. If he had stayed back in the country during the past few weeks that he was away, he would have gotten a lot closer to Haruki.
Haruki had considered his home his personal space enough for him to bring in workout equipment as though he planned to stay there a lot longer. Haruki loved his home, wanted to stay longer but he had to leave because he was not around.
He ran his fingers through his hair as he looked at his reflection in the mirror. His eyes looked downcast. With a sigh, he turned and walked to the shower cubicle.
He had lost so much time and he had no intention of losing anymore. If he is going to Haruki means a confirmation of what he feared the most, then he would still go there to know of the present situation early enough to do something about it.
He called Kiyoshi when he was done dressing up to go find the person he missed the most in the country.
"Where is he?" Hiroshi asked as soon as they were done exchanging a few perfunctory things.
"At the main house," Kiyoshi sighed in his response. He hated to admit it but he was happy that Hiroshi was back. Perhaps Haruki would have someone to vent on enough to stop doing the dangerous things that seemed to have made his new hobby.
"Oh . . . do you think it is okay for me to come?" Hiroshi asked seriously. He took note of the sigh in Kiyoshi’s voice making him worry a bit.
"I think you can come but brace yourself well before you do," Kiyoshi responded with hesitation.
"Who was that?" Ren’s voice came from behind Kiyoshi who had just ended the call with Hiroshi.
"None of your business," Kiyoshi did not hesitate to respond. It was no news that two tigers could not live in a mountain.
Although they tried to be as harmonious as they could be because at the end of the day, all they wanted was Haruki’s well-being but their approaches differed and with their interests conflicting a bit, it was impossible for them not to have disagreements.
Ren’s cold eyes met the gaze of the man slightly shorter than himself. He was the one who brought the man to Haruki’s side. He decided not to push it or force himself into the man’s mountain, they both had different duties in the family and it was best to stick to it.
"I see," Ren smiled coldly before turning to leave.
Kiyoshi watched his departing back and he could not hold back a sigh of relief. There was a reason why the man was Haruki’s mentor. He was so cold it made Kiyoshi feel like shivering but Kiyoshi knowing he was also not a saint, smiled before walking to Haruki’s study.
Whenever they had to discuss Haruki, they became best of friends as though they were inseparable but moments like this were just almost as frequent.
He knocked slightly on the door of Haruki’s study and opened the door when Haruki responded. He walked in remembering how Ren had enforced the need for Haruki to remain cold-hearted and that Haruki was not sick.
Only yesterday, they discovered Haruki was fighting frequently in an underground fighting club where his presence had become a bit sensational. No one knew what he looked like but with a bit of effort, they could find out. He even saw a video.
He had Ren try to talk things out. Haruki’s action was wrong because he chose a ring far from their underworld territory, one Ren had no control over but Haruki was not remorseful. He didn’t even offer them an explanation.
Ren was not against the underworld fighting but he wanted Haruki to do it within his territory while Kiyoshi was completely against. He didn’t want Haruki to try to get himself hurt in such a place without rules. He didn’t know when Haruki would decide to take a knife coming at him.
This was the first time Haruki was doing something like this and it was impossible for them to be worried. He tried to talk about things too but he made no progress. Perhaps with the doctor around, things will change, right?
That’s if Haruki doesn’t kill the doctor first after all he had been ignoring the man for a while. "Dr. Yamamoto has returned to the country," Kiyoshi told Haruki as soon as he got to Haruki. "He said he would pay you a visit."
Haruki raised his head from the book he was reading. He wore a bored expression. He could still remember the doctor’s face and his smile and fearless warm gaze but there was something cold.
Perhaps that coldness would have become frozen enough to ignore the existence of the man enough for him to move on to another lover if the man had stayed away from the country long enough.
He neutrally flipped to the next page before raising his head to look at the man before him. Haruki thought carefully of what he would say. Saying anything against the man’s visit might make him appear to be petty and an overly nonchalant response might appear fake.
Images of what would happen when the man came flooded his mind and he could not keep his lips frozen as they lifted slightly into a curve. "Don’t forget we have a party later tonight," he had to remind the person who was supposed to manage his schedule.
"You’re right. Do you think the doctor should come with you instead of your secretary?" Kiyoshi asked.
"No," Haruki replied without hesitation. The doctor was away long enough for him to choose to attend a party with his secretary so he had no reason to suddenly give the man a place by his side on a formal occasion. "It’s a formal occasion."
Haruki told Kiyoshi to inform the kitchen that he was expecting a guest. He wondered when the doctor would come but unless the doctor was not abstinent, there was no way he would not come over soon enough and it was almost lunchtime.
Kiyoshi walked out of the study with his mind at ease. He could not put his finger on it but he knew something about the doctor’s plan to visit changed something in Haruki.
He was almost certain that as long as the doctor didn’t offend Haruki, he wouldn’t have to worry about Haruki going back to the fighting club.
