Chapter 1219: Working prototype

Chapter 1219: Working prototype

Since Lin Fan knew what he wanted, he didn’t waste any time in making sure that the strange noble got his money.

No, it wasn’t the strange noble anymore since he learned his name.

That noble was actually a duke with the surname Rosewood.

Then again, if he hadn’t been a duke, it would have been unlikely that the nobles would have left him alone for so long. He was someone that didn’t get along with any other nobles, so they would have ganged up on him a long time ago.

According to Haku, he was the descendant of one of the people that had helped her when she first built up this Laver Empire.

That was why even though he didn’t have any achievements to call his own, he had been allowed to keep his title. In fact, it was all because of his ancestors that he was allowed to do a thing like mess around with magic items like he was currently doing.

Though seeing that Rokuko was interested in his magic items stirred Haku as well.

If it was something that Rokuko was interested in, that meant that Haku was interested in it as well. Or it was better to say that Haku was interested in getting it first so she could give it to Rokuko.

But in the end, she just couldn’t see the same thing as Lin Fan since she had never seen the robots that these magic items resembled.

So even if she wanted to do something, her subordinates didn’t allow her to do anything. After all, there was something else that she had to focus on since the Laver Empire was currently working on taking down the Kalos Empire.

It wasn’t as if they could just allow Haku to mess around.

That was how Lin Fan was able to get the funding that he wanted to Duke Rosewood.

Though this time, he made sure to go through Agnus instead of Haku to avoid causing a mess.

Since everyone was still busy with the Kalos Empire, that meant that Lin Fan and Rokuko were even able to pay a trip to Duke Rosewood’s territory to see his experiments.

It had been two weeks since the banquet, so Lin Fan was even looking forward to the results a bit.

This was a genius that even he recognized, so he hoped that there would be something to show for all of the investment that he gave.

After all, it wasn’t a small amount that he had invested.

Lin Fan thought that it would be cheap, but that wasn’t the case. This was even more so when he learned that the other side was a duke that had a large territory in the first place.

Even with the large amount of income that was generated from this large territory, it wasn’t enough to support the expenses of the research that he did.

That meant that this wasn’t a small amount for him to invest.

If it wasn’t for the fact that Yue Lan had a large business, then he most certainly wouldn’t have been able to afford this. Though there was still the fact that he had to convert all of the money from the cultivation continent to money from the magic continent.

Agnus played a role in this since she knew that this would distract Haku.

So in the end, the money reached Duke Rosewood and he was able to continue his research. Or it was better to say that he wasn’t just able to continue his research, he was able to go in a completely new direction.

At the same time, Lin Fan made sure to send some materials that he had that he was certain would help.

Even if he didn’t fully understand everything about the magic tools, he still had some understanding.

It was just that when they arrived in Duke Rosewood’s territory, they certainly didn’t expect to see what they saw. Though it wasn’t as if it was a bad thing that there was this thing that was flying at them.

"Out of the way! Out of the way!"

Lin Fan didn’t move out of the way in the end and just simply raised his hand to create a large ball of water that he pointed at the thing flying at them.

The thing flying at them seemed to recognize that it was about to slam into a giant ball of water, it was just that it wasn’t able to move out of the way in time to dodge this. So in the end, that thing slammed right into the ball of water and was stopped.

Once it was stopped, that was when Lin Fan released the ball of water and dropped that thing to the ground.

When it was on the ground, he got a better look at it.

This was a humanoid thing, but it seemed to be made of metal.

This was the robot suit...the magic item suit that Duke Rosewood said that he would develop.

It seemed like Lin Fan had underestimated the genius of Duke Rosewood, he had been able to develop this suit even sooner than Lin Fan thought. But it wasn’t as if this was a bad thing.

"Ke, ke, ke." The sounds of someone coughing came from the magic item suit, as if they were recovering from drowning.

Lin Fan had already expected that someone would be in this suit since they were testing it, but he was surprised to see who exactly it was that was inside. After all, he never thought that Duke Rosewood would be testing it himself.

But after thinking about it, he realized that this was only the natural conclusion.

Duke Rosewood was someone that was obsessed with his research and his hobby, so if there was a chance to test out this magic item suit, there was no way that he would give that opportunity to someone else.

However, there was something that Lin Fan really wanted to say when he saw Duke Rosewood come out of the magic item suit.

He waited for Duke Rosewood to recover from his coughing before coming forward to help him up. While he was helping him off the ground, Lin Fan suddenly said, "Can I take it for a spin."

Duke Rosewood revealed a bitter smile when he heard this and he even seemed a bit hurt that this was all that Lin Fan wanted, but that look soon disappeared. It was soon replaced by a look that made it seem like he saw Lin Fan as an ally.

After all, Lin Fan was the only one that had supported him in his research and had even invested in him. That was why Lin Fan was worthy of his respect...but that was a completely different topic.

It wasn’t as if Duke Rosewood was done testing this thing yet.

This was his masterpiece, so he wanted to take it for another spin.

At the same time, Rokuko looked like she wanted to take this magic item suit for herself as well.

It was just that Lin Fan had an excuse that made them unable to say anything.

"I think it would be better if I test it since I’ll be able to use it better than either of you. I think that you’ll be able to get better data that way."

The two of them looked at his body and then their own bodies before revealing wry smiles.

They couldn’t refute this since there was that difference in physique in the first place.

Duke Rosewood was a magic researcher, so it wasn’t as if he trained his body.

As for Rokuko, she was a dungeon core that didn’t need to train her power at all. She was someone that relied on DP to make herself stronger, so she had actually never trained a day in her life.

As such, she was even less suited for testing this magic item suit.

Lin Fan was a cultivator who had trained his physique, so his body was certainly better than theirs. It was the perfect build to pilot this magic item suit since he would be able to control it better than they could.

In the end, both of them had no choice but to yield this chance to Lin Fan.

Lin Fan had his turn with the suit and he admitted that Duke Rosewood was without a doubt a genius.

The only thing that he had to add was...

"Is it possible to add an AI system to help control the suit?"

"AI?" Duke Rosewood asked in a confused voice when he heard this.

With a cough, Lin Fan corrected himself by saying, "An artifact spirit. After all, if anything happens to the one that’s piloting the suit, the artifact spirit would be able to provide them support."

Duke Rosewood tilted his head as if he was thinking about it before slowly giving a nod and saying, "Right, I never thought of that. Even if it’s several magic items combining, it forms a complete system once it comes together. It’s definitely possible to have an artifact spirit to help the user control the suit."

Right after he said this, he pulled out some paper and started scribbling on it.

Lin Fan and Rokuko didn’t really understand what it was since it was covered in magic arrays.

When it came to magic research, this was the equivalent to writing code.

So neither of them bothered Duke Rosewood while he was doing this.

Instead, they just took this time to properly admire the suit that he had made.

"He really is a genius." Lin Fan had to say this one more time.
