Chapter 2022 The Mysterious Thatched Hut

Mu Anxiao merely smiled, remaining silent.

At that moment, the instant Mu Anxiao uttered Ouyang Ye's name, Ah Chu began to regard Mu Anxiao as one of them. She looked at Mu Anxiao with a curious expression, "Did he mention me?"

"Who?" Ah Chu's question bewildered Mu Anxiao.

Ah Chu: "Ouyang Ye. Did he, in front of you..."

"I haven't known him long. Just now," Mu Anxiao, fearing Ah Chu might ask more questions she couldn't answer, fabricated an explanation. "I was guessing if you knew Ouyang Ye. Because, well, Ouyang Ye is quite formidable here, naturally, his demon souls must be incredibly powerful too. And I, from observing you, saw that powerful aura." With that, she smiled.

Although Mu Anxiao's words were a bit exaggerated, Ah Chu found them delightful. Looking at Mu Anxiao, Ah Chu also smiled, "You know, I really am quite powerful," she said, glancing at the stall. "Speaking of which, Ouyang Ye sent you, didn't he?"

"Yes." Mu Anxiao nodded, seeing no need to hide it.

Ah Chu: "He asked you to deliver food to the people by the city wall."

People?

From the moment she accepted Ouyang Ye's mission, she only knew she had to deliver food to that unfamiliar place, but she didn't know to whom. Unexpectedly, without any effort, a casual chat with Ah Chu revealed such useful information.

Upon hearing this, a smug feeling bubbled up inside her. "Yes, but..." she lowered her voice.

Ah Chu looked puzzled. "What's wrong? Did you encounter any difficulties?" she asked, displaying a helpful demeanor.

Seeing this, Mu Anxiao smiled. "I have encountered a difficulty. To be honest," she said, glancing around, "I can't find the way. I've never been to the city wall."

"That's all?" Ah Chu chuckled.

Conversely, Mu Anxiao didn't find her question amusing and became a little displeased. "What are you laughing at?"

"You dared to accept Ouyang Ye's mission without even knowing the location? You're truly brave."

"It's a mission from the boss, so I must complete it properly. Besides," Mu Anxiao grew serious, "I just don't know the way for now. With my intelligent brain and agile limbs, I'm sure I can quickly find the place."

"Your self-praise is quite remarkable," Ah Chu remarked, pointing towards the stall. "Go get the food box."

"What are you going to do?" Mu Anxiao asked, confused.

Ah Chu: "What else? I'll accompany you. Finding the way can be quite time-consuming."

"That's so kind," Mu Anxiao feigned surprise.

Ah Chu smiled. "Since you know I'm kind, help me pull him back a little," she said, glancing at Song Xu, who was still clinging to the pillar. "That guy is mine, no matter what."

"There are plenty of fish in the sea, why you insist on liking someone like that, you're truly crazy," Mu Anxiao said. She walked past Song Xu, skirted around the stall, and bent down to pick up the food box.

After hearing Mu Anxiao's words, Ah Chu chuckled and covered her mouth with her hand. Then, she stepped forward and stood in front of Song Xu. "It's not strange for a man to have multiple wives and concubines, but remember this: if you dare not marry me, I'll cling to you until you die. Not only that," she reached out and placed her hands on Song Xu's shoulders, "I'll be the main wife."

"Are you insane?" Song Xu stammered, his voice trembling.

Hearing Song Xu's words and glancing at Ah Chu, who was poised to explode at any moment, Mu Anxiao quickly interjected, "Marrying such a virtuous and beautiful woman is your good fortune." She walked to stand opposite Song Xu. "When we get back, I'll deliver this good news to Shen Moyun."

"You wouldn't dare," Song Xu said, flustered.

Mu Anxiao smiled. "I am Shen Moyun's friend. We're wearing the same clothes, so what is there that I wouldn't dare to do? Oh, right," she smiled at Song Xu, "remember my name. I am Cao Gen."

"Cao Gen?" Song Xu repeated casually.

Upon hearing this, Mu Anxiao's face immediately fell. "My surname is Cao, not Cao (grass). If you say one more wrong word, don't blame me for cutting out your tongue."

"You wouldn't dare."

"I dare," Mu Anxiao echoed, looking at Ah Chu beside her. "That's right, I wouldn't dare. But she might."

"I won't do that," Ah Chu naively undermined Mu Anxiao.

Mu Anxiao froze at Ah Chu's words.

Seeing Ah Chu completely unwilling to cooperate with Mu Anxiao, Song Xu couldn't help but laugh heartily.

Mu Anxiao heard this and, freeing one hand, lightly slapped Song Xu's face. "Shut up. Now, you hurry back and prepare the betrothal gifts." With that, she quickly grabbed the food box again and looked at Ah Chu. "Please lead the way."

Song Xu stared at Mu Anxiao, utterly bewildered. "Cao Gen, you just wait." He then turned and walked away without even glancing at Ah Chu.

Seeing Song Xu leave, Ah Chu made to follow him.

At this, Mu Anxiao quickly said, "He's going to prepare the betrothal gifts."

Hearing this, Ah Chu stopped her advancing steps, turned to look at Mu Anxiao, and asked, "Really?"

"Men and women have different ways of thinking. From my many years of experience as a man, he actually likes you very much but is just too shy to express it. He's," Mu Anxiao said, glancing in Song Xu's direction, then turning back to Ah Chu, "going to prepare a surprise for you."

"That's good then," Ah Chu said with relief and a smile.

Mu Anxiao also smiled. "So, don't worry," she said, looking around. "Which way should we go?"

Hearing Mu Anxiao's question, Ah Chu smiled, turned around, and walked in the opposite direction of Song Xu.

Subsequently, Mu Anxiao let out a sigh of relief and followed Ah Chu.

A short while later.

Mu Anxiao followed Ah Chu to a thatched hut. Ah Chu said, "This is it." As she spoke, she pointed to a half-door made of bamboo.

Mu Anxiao exclaimed in surprise, "There's actually such a courtyard here."

"Yes, but ordinary people cannot see it," Ah Chu said plainly.

Hearing Ah Chu's words, Mu Anxiao smiled. "Are you kidding me? I'm an ordinary person too, and I can see it. How can..."

"It seems you weren't lying to me," Ah Chu suddenly said.

Mu Anxiao gave a wry smile upon hearing Ah Chu's words. "What do you mean by that?"

Ah Chu, afraid of offending Mu Anxiao, said, "Some things require verification to get an answer. I..."

"You don't trust me," Mu Anxiao interrupted.

"I just..."

"You've hurt my feelings so much," Mu Anxiao said deliberately. She suddenly felt an urge to find clues from Ah Chu.

Upon hearing this, Ah Chu quickly said, "I didn't mean to. I'm sorry." The moment she learned Mu Anxiao could see this place, she had felt a pang of guilt, so hearing Mu Anxiao's words now brought her a sense of relief.

Mu Anxiao deliberately remained silent.
