A Chu looked at Mu Anxiao, who had frozen in place, and said angrily, "I told you to apologize to the young master, what are you doing?"
Upon hearing this, Mu Anxiao snapped back to reality, looked at A Chu, and said, "Just a moment, don't rush." As she spoke, she quietly moved to an empty stall nearby, glanced at A Chu, whose gaze was following her, gave a sheepish grin, circled around to the back of the stall, and bent down to put the food box away.
"What are you doing?" A Chu asked impatiently.
Song Xu, hearing A Chu's question, also turned his head, fixing his gaze on Mu Anxiao.
Behind the stall, after putting the food box down, Mu Anxiao straightened up, looked at A Chu and Song Xu, smiled, and said, "Nothing." With that, she walked around the stall and returned to stand before them.
Song Xu remained silent.
Instead, A Chu said, "Apologize to my young master." Her attitude turned cold.
Mu Anxiao gave a dry chuckle, looked at Song Xu, and said, "Hey, what I said to you earlier, that was my..." She stopped midway, staring at Song Xu's stunned face, and wondered, "Strange, why isn't he reacting at all? Could it be that what I said has shocked him into silence?" As she spoke, she reached out to pat Song Xu's face.
Before Mu Anxiao could touch Song Xu's face, A Chu suddenly reached out and intercepted her, "How can you touch the young master's face so casually?" After saying this, she roughly shook Mu Anxiao's hand away.
Mu Anxiao smiled, "No, don't you think he looks a bit blank, a bit strange?" she asked, her gaze returning to Song Xu's face.
"You don't need to worry about him," A Chu growled.
Immediately, Mu Anxiao took half a step back, lowered her eyes, and smiled, "Yes, you don't need to worry about him. Speaking of which," her attitude completely changed, and her gaze towards A Chu became cold, "what did you give him?"
"You..."
"You're a demon soul, aren't you?" Mu Anxiao said, no longer bothering to hide it.
A Chu's eyes widened when she heard this, "What do you mean by that?" She was clearly flustered.
Mu Anxiao's lips curved, "I mean, this rose scent on you," she said, leaning in to sniff, and continued, "it's not normal."
"You're talking nonsense," A Chu growled.
Mu Anxiao retorted, "You're the one talking nonsense. Tell me, why do you want to harm him?" As she spoke, she snapped her fingers towards Song Xu, "Or do you really like him?"
At the same moment, after Mu Anxiao's snap, Song Xu regained consciousness, "What happened to me?" he asked, looking up at Mu Anxiao.
Mu Anxiao glanced at A Chu and said, "Ask her."
"Ask..." Song Xu uttered the word, rubbing his head with one hand as he looked at A Chu, asking, "What happened to me?"
"She drugged you and was going to escape, but I stopped her," A Chu lied.
Mu Anxiao let out a cold laugh upon hearing A Chu's easy fabrication and remained silent.
Conversely, Song Xu turned to look at Mu Anxiao, "You're quite ruthless. Using drugs to confuse me, you..." He stopped midway, then lowered his head to look at Mu Anxiao's feet and asked, "Where's your food box?"
"You don't need to worry about it," Mu Anxiao said, stepping forward and taking Song Xu's arm.
Song Xu's body stiffened, and he asked, "What are you doing?"
"Get out of the way, lest you get hurt." With that, Mu Anxiao forcefully shoved Song Xu aside and stood in front of A Chu, "I can tell you don't want him to know."
A Chu's eyes darkened.
Beside them, Song Xu, as he stumbled forward, grabbed onto a pillar to steady himself.
Mu Anxiao continued, "It seems I guessed right."
"You don't need to worry about it," A Chu said softly.
Mu Anxiao knew A Chu wouldn't speak nicely, so she lowered her eyes and smiled, "I wasn't going to interfere, but I just..." She stopped midway, suddenly remembering the floral scent outside every room on the second floor. She thought further and realized that the inn was arranged by Ouyang Ye. This led her to believe that Ouyang Ye and the inn must have an unusual connection. Therefore, looking at A Chu, who possessed the demon soul, she decided not to act rashly and gave a sheepish grin.
Seeing Mu Anxiao like this, A Chu frowned, "What are you smiling about?"
"The floral scent on you is really strong," Mu Anxiao said, still smiling playfully at A Chu.
A Chu looked utterly confused, "Is there something wrong with your head?"
"I'm fine," Mu Anxiao said, casually glancing at Song Xu, who was clinging to the pillar, and added with a smile, "You asked me to apologize to him, and I listened to you. Apologies." With that, she turned towards Song Xu.
A Chu couldn't understand Mu Anxiao.
Song Xu also couldn't understand, "Why are you apologizing to me?" he asked, cautiously glancing at A Chu.
A Chu's face stiffened.
Mu Anxiao continued, "This young lady said I spoke rudely to you, so I'm here to apologize. I'm sorry." After saying this, she didn't forget to bow to Song Xu.
Seeing Mu Anxiao like this, Song Xu couldn't help but chuckle.
A Chu looked down at Mu Anxiao, whose attitude changed by the second. Recalling Mu Anxiao's earlier words about her being a 'demon soul,' she couldn't help but ask, "Who exactly are you?"
Mu Anxiao knew her previous words would definitely pique A Chu's curiosity.
As expected, A Chu had indeed asked.
"I'm human," she said, feigning composure.
"You're human," A Chu said, glancing at Song Xu, who was reluctant to let go of the pillar. She walked up to Mu Anxiao, met her eyes, and said softly, "Then how do you know about demon souls?"
"I..." Mu Anxiao feigned composure. "Do you know Ouyang Ye?" she guessed that the inn must be connected to Ouyang Ye, so she blurted out the name.
However, the moment Mu Anxiao spoke the name, A Chu tensed up, "What is your relationship with the master?"
Having been at the inn for so long, A Chu had never heard anyone mention Ouyang Ye's name. This made her curious about Mu Anxiao's relationship with Ouyang Ye.
Mu Anxiao had hoped to elicit such a response from A Chu. Initially, she thought A Chu would beat around the bush, and that the matter wouldn't proceed so smoothly. To her surprise, A Chu actually questioned her in return.
Hearing this, her heart fluttered, though she remained outwardly calm. "To be honest, he's my boss," she said, deliberately lowering her voice.
A Chu's eyes lit up, "You're not human."
"I am human, but I can see demon souls," Mu Anxiao said mysteriously. "Therefore, your identity was immediately revealed to me." She finished by glancing at Song Xu.
A Chu nodded, "So that's how it is." She now considered Mu Anxiao to be on her side.
Seeing the two of them whispering to each other, Song Xu became nervous.
