"I..." Ma Yan was speechless.
Ma Yan pushed herself up, her gaze still fixed on Ma Yan, and shouted, "Are you sick?"
"Sister, I..."
"Have you forgotten that I hired someone to beat you that day? Are you brainless," Ma Yan stepped past Hu Yuan and in front of Ma Yan, "Or do you not have a brain at all?" She shoved Ma Yan's head hard.
Mu Anxiao watched Ma Yan's overly aggressive behavior, clenching her fists.
Hu Yuan glanced at Mu Anxiao and said, "People like you should die." As he spoke, he reached out and grabbed Ma Yan's collar from behind.
Ma Yan's eyes widened: "No."
"Ma Yan, you were beaten so badly, yet you wouldn't tell anyone she did it, even claiming you fell yourself. Back then, I thought you were just covering for her. Now I know," Hu Yuan glared at Ma Yan, "you're simply foolish."
"Indeed foolish," Feng Qishi agreed.
Mu Anxiao looked at Ma Yan's retreating back and the fear on Ma Yan's face, saying, "It seems things are not as simple as they appear."
"If things were as simple as you thought," Hu Yuan turned to look at Mu Anxiao, "then they wouldn't be considered things at all."
Ma Yan heard Hu Yuan's voice, her body stiffened, and she asked without turning her head, "Who are you talking to?"
"Someone you caused to die," Hu Yuan replied.
"What?" Ma Yan's eyes widened in horror.
Mu Anxiao looked at Ma Yan's back and said, "You really know how to pin crimes on her."
"Show yourself if you have the guts," Hu Yuan said provocatively.
Mu Anxiao glanced at the sky, then at Hu Yuan's demeanor, took a deep breath, walked past them, and ran out the door.
Hu Yuan frowned.
Feng Qishi's lips curled as he lowered his head.
Moments later, Mu Anxiao appeared outside, pushed open the door, and feigning surprise, looked at the scene before her, asking, "What are you all doing here?"
Hu Yuan looked at Mu Anxiao's disingenuous expression, his lips twitching.
As Ma Yan turned her head to look at Mu Anxiao, she was startled.
Ma Yan looked at Mu Anxiao and asked, "Why are you everywhere?"
Mu Anxiao ignored Ma Yan and turned directly to Feng Qishi, "What business do you have here?" she said, walking over to Feng Qishi's side.
Feng Qishi played along, "I just wanted to get some air here. What's it to you?"
At the time, when Ma Yan was in danger, she hadn't noticed how Feng Qishi had appeared.
"I didn't say it was any of my business either," Mu Anxiao replied, glancing at Hu Yuan, "Has your body recovered?"
Hu Yuan looked at Mu Anxiao, who was feigning ignorance, sighed, and released his grip on Ma Yan's collar, saying, "Do you want to know the truth of the matter?"
"What truth?" Mu Anxiao's eyes flickered.
"My suffering," Hu Yuan stated earnestly.
Ma Yan's face darkened.
Ma Yan cautiously glanced at Ma Yan and stepped forward, saying, "I'm sorry, it's all my fault."
Hu Yuan's brow furrowed, and he looked down at Ma Yan, asking, "What does this have to do with you?"
"We grew up together, you know. That year in junior high when I said I liked you, if I hadn't said I liked you," Ma Yan pursed her lips, "my sister wouldn't have treated you so outrageously. I'm sorry, it's all my fault. If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have suffered so much. I'm sorry, if I hadn't made a bet with my sister back then, I wouldn't have pulled the needle. I'm sorry... I'm sorry." Tears slowly welled up in her eyes.
Mu Anxiao and Feng Qishi had never expected the situation to be so complicated. Their gazes met, and Feng Qishi gestured towards Hu Yuan.
Mu Anxiao followed Feng Qishi's pointed finger towards Hu Yuan, who stood there with a stunned expression, and said, "Um, there must be some misunderstanding here, don't..."
"What do you know?" Hu Yuan suddenly interjected, pushing Ma Yan aside and stepping up to Ma Yan, "So, in other words, my suffering was caused by you and your sister together. How wonderful."
"Wonderful what?" Mu Anxiao asked.
Hu Yuan didn't even glance at Mu Anxiao and said, "In that case, I'll let her take you to see what you've done."
"Don't drag me into this with her," Ma Yan said coldly.
Mu Anxiao's face turned ashen.
"Well, you're done for," Feng Qishi muttered.
Mu Anxiao gave Feng Qishi a sidelong glance and said, "I don't understand what you're saying."
"It's your problem if you don't understand. In any case, you have to do as I say now, or I'll let them both die," Hu Yuan said sternly.
Mu Anxiao looked at Hu Yuan's expression and thought of the wolf demon still dormant within him. She closed her eyes in resignation and said, "To what time?"
"Pulling the needle," Hu Yuan stated simply.
Mu Anxiao's face was filled with complex difficulty.
Feng Qishi, worried that Mu Anxiao might abandon him, stepped forward and took her arm.
Mu Anxiao looked at Feng Qishi, then at the three people before her, and said, "If you can say it, then you must have a way to cooperate with me to let them visually see their actions." With that, she pulled away Feng Qishi's hand.
Feng Qishi took half a step back and remained silent.
Hu Yuan looked at the two individuals who were unaware of the situation and said, "I don't have the ability you mentioned. Take us to see the past."
"I've already used it once, and I can't use it again today. Besides, why don't you just narrate your suffering? Going back to see it," Mu Anxiao glanced uncomfortably at Ma Yan and Ma Yan, "don't you think it's too troublesome?"
"I don't think so," Hu Yuan insisted.
Mu Anxiao didn't want mortals to know her identity, but seeing Hu Yuan's persistence, she was truly at a loss.
"You'll erase their memories anyway," Feng Qishi stepped forward and whispered into Mu Anxiao's ear.
Mu Anxiao pursed her lips and said mentally, *Do you think my magic just blows in with the wind? You'd better shut up.*
Feng Qishi smiled and said, "Your magic really did blow in with the wind."
Hearing Feng Qishi's words, Mu Anxiao widened her eyes in response.
"Alright, stop being difficult. Do you really want to see," Feng Qishi deliberately glanced towards Hu Yuan, "him kill someone?"
*He wouldn't do that,* Mu Anxiao thought mentally.
Feng Qishi chuckled softly in Mu Anxiao's ear and said, "Suppressed suffering eventually erupts. If you want to witness a tragedy, then don't cooperate with that madman." He tightly pressed on Mu Anxiao's shoulders, "Sometimes listening can save a life, you silly Mu."
Mu Anxiao squinted at Feng Qishi's arrogant gaze and said mentally, *Feng Qishi, don't push it too far.*
"No, I'm just reminding you," Feng Qishi said softly, then stood up and smiled at Mu Anxiao.
Mu Anxiao looked up at Feng Qishi's expression, her eyes narrowing into slits, and she pursed her lips, thinking mentally, *Have you ever heard the saying, curiosity killed the cat?*
