"You say you don't, but your eyes were glued to it just now," Mu Anxiao stated directly.
The proprietress chuckled, "I did, a little, but it was poisoned. There's no point in eating it now, is there?"
"Even if it wasn't poisoned, you wouldn't dare eat it," the man in green interjected suddenly.
"I dare eat rabbit."
"It's a rabbit from a cultivation sect. Do you dare?" the man in green said in a chilling tone.
"Cult...cultivation sect?" The proprietress's face turned quite grim. "No way, aren't all rabbits from cultivation sects already spirits? How can there still be one?"
"I was just giving an example. Don't take it seriously," the man in green smiled.
The proprietress gave an embarrassed laugh and said, "You scared me half to death! I'll get you rooms right away." With that, she turned to the waiter, "Show our guests up."
"Right away, proprietress," the waiter readily agreed, smiling at Mu Anxiao.
Mu Anxiao narrowed her eyes at the waiter's expression and said, "You'd better not be looking at me."
However, the very next moment after Mu Anxiao said this, Feng Qishi stiffened, nudged Mu Anxiao's arm, and asked, "Do you have to be so narcissistic?"
"I didn't," the waiter replied sheepishly.
The proprietress looked at Mu Anxiao's face and smiled, "Miss, my waiter was just wondering if you were a woman. Don't scare him like that, he's timid."
"I'm timid too," Mu Anxiao said.
The proprietress gave an awkward laugh and said nothing.
The waiter swallowed and stepped forward, saying, "I'll take you upstairs."
After the previous incident, the waiter had lost the courage to look at Mu Anxiao.
"Let's go," the man in green broke the waiter's awkward silence.
Mu Anxiao glanced at the proprietress, held Hong Yan, and followed the waiter upstairs.
Minutes later...
"Later, I'll take him directly to my room. You can handle that guy," the man in green said, giving a thumbs-up over his shoulder as he pointed at Mu Anxiao walking behind them.
The waiter, walking beside the man in green, said, "Can't you wait to get the young lady a room before you leave?"
"Afraid of her?" Feng Qishi asked, following closely behind them.
"Then have her room opened next to this fellow's. That way, you won't have to be afraid," Feng Qishi pointed at the man in green.
"That works too," the man in green agreed.
"The room next to yours has a better environment and costs more. Think it over," the waiter reminded him.
The man in green smiled, "No problem. I'll stay in the new one, and she can have mine."
"That's a good plan," the waiter smiled.
Feng Qishi's lips twitched, speechless.
A moment later, Mu Anxiao entered the room the man in green usually stayed in and said, "Someone has stayed here before." She then turned to look at the waiter.
The waiter glanced at the man in green standing beside him and said, "Young master."
"You stay in mine, I'll stay in the new one, and I'll pay for the room," the man in green said generously.
Upon hearing that he was paying, Mu Anxiao readily relaxed and said, "Alright, I'll make do then."
"I'll get you bathwater."
"No..." Mu Anxiao was about to refuse, but seeing her attire, she reluctantly compromised, "Fine."
"There are clothes inside, change into them yourself," the man in green reminded her.
"Are they green too?" Mu Anxiao asked, looking at the man in green's clothes.
"Why else? I like green," the man in green said with a fake smile.
Mu Anxiao hesitated, then nodded, "Alright, green it is."
Seeing Mu Anxiao compromise, the waiter breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Then I'll go get the water for you."
"Wait, you go... get some hemostatic powder and bandages," Mu Anxiao said, her gaze occasionally flicking towards the man in green.
"Yes..."
Before the waiter could finish agreeing, the man in green asked, "You're not injured, why do you need those?"
"I'm injured," Mu Anxiao said, extending her hand stained with Hong Yan's blood.
Instantly, both the man in green and the waiter were startled.
"I'll go right away," the waiter quickly responded and ran off.
The man in green said, "Don't get Hong Yan's white fur dirty. She was just washed clean."
"You worry too much," Mu Anxiao said.
Feng Qishi, worried that the man in green might realize Hong Yan was injured, said, "Let's go."
"Can you manage yourself?" the man in green asked, looking at Mu Anxiao's hand.
"Yes, we're all people of the martial world, of course, I can handle this small injury," Mu Anxiao said, feigning a nonchalant tone.
"If you need anything, find me," the man in green said, turning and leaving the room with Feng Qishi.
Mu Anxiao stepped forward to close the door, then turned back to the table and placed Hong Yan on it, asking, "How do you feel?"
Hong Yan opened its eyes and said, "The young master who was with you just now injected immortal energy into my body. I feel much more comfortable."
"He..." Mu Anxiao uttered one word, recalling that Feng Qishi had indeed touched Hong Yan's head. "I didn't even know."
"Thank you for not telling him," Hong Yan said.
Mu Anxiao lowered her head and asked, "Why didn't you want me to tell him?"
"I got this injury protecting him. If he knew, he would feel bad," Hong Yan said calmly.
"When I first met you, I didn't realize you were so gentle," Mu Anxiao said, sitting down at the table.
Following that, there was a knock on the door.
"Miss, the hemostatic powder is ready."
Mu Anxiao tilted her head, stood up again, walked to the door, opened it, and said, "Just give it to me." After speaking, she took the tray with the hemostatic powder and bandages.
The waiter looked at Mu Anxiao's hand in astonishment and asked, "Doesn't it hurt?"
"Of course, it hurts," Mu Anxiao said, feigning a pained expression and stepping back.
"Miss, I can help you..." The waiter stopped midway through his sentence, remembering what Mu Anxiao had said downstairs, and swallowed the words that reached his lips. "I'll go boil bathwater for you. The water in the copper basin is clean, you can use it for now." After saying this, he pulled the door shut.
Mu Anxiao breathed a sigh of relief, took the tray, turned back to the table, and said, "I'll apply the medicine for you. It might hurt, so bear with it."
"Mmm," Hong Yan nodded.
Seeing Hong Yan's cooperation, Mu Anxiao smiled, then turned to the copper basin, looked down at the clean water, and said, "I'll clean your wound, and then wash off the bloodstains from your fur." Saying this, she picked up the copper basin and walked back to the table.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome," Mu Anxiao said, stopping and placing the copper basin on the table.
A quarter of an hour later...
Mu Anxiao sat at the table looking at the bandage on Hong Yan's leg and said, "As long as he doesn't hug you, no one will be able to tell."
"Thank you," Hong Yan said, looking at Mu Anxiao.
"Stop thanking me," Mu Anxiao reached out and supported Hong Yan's head. "It makes me feel embarrassed whenever I see you."
"I truly didn't expect you to be such a meticulous person," Hong Yan said, choked with emotion.
