Chapter 558 Distant Relatives

"Senior brother, you truly don't remember me," the man in green said, pointing at Feng Qishi.

"I don't," Feng Qishi shook his head.

A smile flickered across the man in green's lips. "That's great then."

"Hey, shouldn't you be lamenting or feeling sad at a time like this?" Feng Qishi asked the man in green, who instead of appearing sorrowful, seemed rather pleased.

"What is there to be sad about? As the saying goes, debts from a past life are repaid in this one. You bullied me quite a bit in your past life, and you owe me many favors, so," the man in green flashed a sinister grin, "repay them."

Feng Qishi frowned, feigning ignorance.

"I don't understand," the man in green stated.

Feng Qishi shook his head.

"In the past life, you always gave me your private jobs catching monsters, which exhausted me. In the end, I got no benefits. Now, I command you to go catch that rabbit spirit for me," the man in green said, pointing at Feng Qishi's face.

Feng Qishi couldn't help but clench his hands and said with a playful smile, "I know."

"Know what?" the man in green asked.

Feng Qishi took a step forward and said, "Were you just up there..." he pointed to the sky, "...chasing that black shadow?"

"Yes," the man in green nodded.

Hearing this, Mu Anxiao hurried to the man in green's side. "It's all your fault."

At her words, the man in green's expression stiffened. He turned his head and asked, "What did I do?"

"If it weren't for you, I would have already caught that rabbit spirit who transformed into an old woman," Mu Anxiao said, glaring at the man in green.

The man in green furrowed his brows. "No, I only knew of one. How... there's another?"

"Everyone is still alive."

Upon hearing this, the three of them looked down together at Hong Yan, who had stopped.

"Rabbit spirit," Feng Qishi exclaimed excitedly.

Mu Anxiao glanced at Hong Yan and said, "She's a good one." With that, she bent down and expertly picked her up.

"Are you alright?" the man in green asked, looking down at Hong Yan in Mu Anxiao's arms.

Hong Yan weakly shook her rabbit head.

Feng Qishi, noticing Hong Yan's peculiar expression, asked, "Are you injured?"

Hearing Feng Qishi's words, the man in green seized the opportunity to look at Hong Yan with feigned concern. "Did you just block something for me? Are you injured?"

"No," Hong Yan said, glancing at the sky. "At this time, I'm usually resting, so I'm sleepy."

"Then sleep well," the man in green said, patting Hong Yan's head.

Hong Yan nodded slightly and obediently closed her eyes.

At the same moment, Mu Anxiao suddenly felt something sticky on her hand and realized that Hong Yan was indeed injured.

"Where are we going?" Knowing that Hong Yan didn't want the man in green to know she was hurt, she asked in a seemingly relaxed tone.

"Where else? An inn, of course," the man in green replied casually.

"Let's go," Mu Anxiao said, holding Hong Yan tightly.

"Alright," the man in green nodded, then looked at Feng Qishi with a smile. "You and I will share a room, and she and Hong Yan will share another."

"Who is Hong Yan?" Feng Qishi asked coldly.

"Her," the man in green said, pointing to the rabbit in Mu Anxiao's arms.

Feng Qishi followed his gaze to Hong Yan, then looked back and asked, "Does the inn have buns?"

"Yes."

"Let's go," Feng Qishi said, stepping forward and pulling Mu Anxiao's arm.

Mu Anxiao glanced at Feng Qishi and walked forward with him.

The man in green watched their retreating backs and asked, "Do you know the way?"

Hearing this, they both stopped and simultaneously turned to look at the man in green. Feng Qishi asked, "Isn't it this way?"

"Of course not," the man in green said, turning around and walking in the opposite direction.

Mu Anxiao asked, "Do you have something to do?"

"I'll come to your room later. You go bandage her first," Feng Qishi said, stroking Hong Yan's head.

"You saw it," Mu Anxiao said, looking at the man in green's retreating figure. "That guy didn't."

"That guy is clearly a careless fellow," Feng Qishi sighed.

Mu Anxiao asked, "Are you familiar with him?"

"First meeting," Feng Qishi replied, then walked forward.

Mu Anxiao's lips curved, and she followed him.

In an instant, they arrived in front of the inn. Mu Anxiao looked at the two lanterns hanging outside the inn and said, "Are you sure this place is being run by someone?"

"This is where I frequent, so I know it better than you," the man in green said, walking up the steps and gently knocking on the door.

Then, a female voice from inside called out, "Password."

"The most beautiful flower, enchanting as the moon and shy as a falling bloom, please open the door."

The moment the man in green uttered these words, Mu Anxiao and Feng Qishi's arms broke out in goosebumps.

"That's truly disgusting," Mu Anxiao muttered.

Feng Qishi said, "Keep it to yourself. If he hears it, you'll have to pay."

Mu Anxiao glanced at Feng Qishi and nodded.

At the same time, the proprietress, dressed in floral clothes, with a hairpin in her hair and exaggerated makeup, opened the door. "You're back." As she was about to step aside, she saw Mu Anxiao and Feng Qishi.

"Why did you bring people here?" she asked, blocking the man in green.

The man in green looked down at the proprietress and said with a playful smile, "These two are my distant relatives."

"Your relatives, eh," the proprietress relaxed her guard and said.

"Move aside then," the man in green said.

The proprietress hesitated for a moment before stepping aside.

The man in green gestured to the side. "Come in, both of you."

"Oh," Feng Qishi responded, pulling Mu Anxiao's arm.

Mu Anxiao glanced at Feng Qishi and followed him across the threshold into the inn.

Immediately, the proprietress quickly closed the door and turned around. "How should we arrange things?"

"I'll share a room with him, and you get another one for her," the man in green said, pointing at Mu Anxiao.

"Why don't the three of you just squeeze in? Someone else might come in the latter half of the night," the proprietress suggested.

"She's a woman," the man in green directly informed the proprietress of Mu Anxiao's gender.

Mu Anxiao hadn't wanted too many people to realize she was a woman, and now, hearing the man in green reveal it so casually, she was speechless.

"A woman? Then we'll have to open another room," the proprietress said, walking up to Mu Anxiao and looking down at Hong Yan with a smile. "Oh, miss, you're too polite."

Mu Anxiao took a step back.

The proprietress's expression changed. Her gaze remained fixed on Hong Yan. "We... we haven't eaten rabbit meat in many years."

"Rabbit meat," Mu Anxiao repeated, looking down at Hong Yan, who began to tremble, and said, "This rabbit has potent poison inside. Are you sure you still want to eat it?"

Upon hearing Mu Anxiao's words, the proprietress quickly shook her head. "I didn't mean to eat it. Besides, even if I wanted to, someone would have to bring it to me."
