Chapter 52 Soul in Chains

“How would I know?” Mu Anxiao asked, puzzled.

“It’s just my guess,” the Yin Messenger said casually, pointing to the silver rope in Mu Anxiao’s hand. “Alright, I have a new task. I’ll leave this to you for now and come back later.” With that, he turned and vanished.

Mu Anxiao hadn't even begun to understand any of this. She stared in the direction the Yin Messenger had disappeared, sighed softly, and then looked down to see a green chain lying on the ground. “This must belong to the Yin Messenger.” Muttering to herself, she bent down to pick it up and then turned to calmly face Shen Yan, who was staring at her. “What are you looking at me for?”

“Come here,” Shen Yan beckoned.

Seeing Shen Yan’s haggard appearance, Mu Anxiao tucked the chain into her sleeve and stepped forward, handing the silver rope to Shen Yan. “Here.”

Shen Yan flicked his eyes sideways. “Tie him up.”

“I… I don’t dare,” Mu Anxiao retreated half a step.

“I can’t use this,” Shen Yan said, glancing at the vine spirit lying on the ground. “If you don’t go, then you’ll just have to wait for him to get up and get revenge on you.”

“Shouldn’t he be getting revenge on you?” Mu Anxiao blurted out.

“He only bullies the weakest. Who do you think is the weakest here?” Shen Yan waited for Mu Anxiao’s answer.

Mu Anxiao’s eyes flickered, and she pointed towards the self-absorbed girl who was trembling behind Ye Yin. “Of course, it’s her.”

“It’s not her,” Shen Yan shook his head.

“It’s definitely not me,” Mu Anxiao turned her face away.

“It’s you,” Shen Yan said, reaching out and pressing down on Mu Anxiao’s head. “If you don’t tie him up now, then I’ll have the honor of telling you that you’re heading for a dead end.”

“You’re still the same you,” Mu Anxiao met Shen Yan’s eyes and pouted.

“Stop talking nonsense and hurry up,” Shen Yan said, moving his hand away and making a path for Mu Anxiao.

Mu Anxiao’s shoulders hunched as she looked at the motionless vine spirit on the ground, thinking about what the vine spirit had just said to her. Her heart began to pound wildly.

“Hurry up,” Shen Yan reminded her.

Mu Anxiao jumped, her shoulders twitching involuntarily. She said with trembling lips, “Fine, I’ll go. Anyway, if I die, no one will be sad for me.” As she spoke, she gripped the silver rope tightly and approached the vine spirit step by step.

As Mu Anxiao stepped forward, Shen Yan looked down at his own hand holding the chain and thought, ‘It seems the soul of that true vine spirit is indeed sealed within this.’ With that thought, he clenched his fist, and the chain vanished.

The vine spirit, lying on the ground, slightly raised its head to look at the approaching Mu Anxiao and roared, “I’ll kill you.”

Mu Anxiao’s body trembled, and she immediately stopped.

Shen Yan looked at Mu Anxiao’s constantly shaking figure and said, “His magic is gone. If you tie him up with that rope, he will come out of that body.”

“Oh.” Mu Anxiao bit the bullet and agreed, taking a few more steps towards him, muttering in her heart, “Tie him, tie him.”

Suddenly, the silver rope flew out of her hand.

Mu Anxiao’s eyes widened, she swallowed and tried to shout one word, “Go.”

Instantly, the silver rope spread out in the air very cooperatively, then floated towards the vine spirit. In a short while, the vine spirit was tied up like a zongzi, curled up in place.

Mu Anxiao seemed to gain some momentum. She walked forward and became arrogant. “You just watch. Shall I kill you, or will you kill me?”
